Nope
5:53 that was the funniest thing I saw in afl it was so funny how he got pushed
5:44 Ayyyy, good video by the way Cardy, it’s unbelievable how much this game has changed since the start, can’t wait for more
No worries mate thanks for making the video lol
@@CARDMAN22 haha all good
This is an amazing, very in depth and well explained. More AFL History videos would be a good idea since this video was amazing!
Thanks for the comment mate! Glad you found it enjoyable
Finally someone gets it right. It's Australian Rules Football, not AFL ! Well done Cardman 22
Cheers mate
@Michael Rogers (from the WWW). Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground.
One of the Best AFL vids I’ve ever seen 👏 worst rule is probably having to stand on the mark and most significant taking a mark
I really appreciate the comment mate! Glad you enjoyed it
@@CARDMAN22 that’s alright Cardy
Stand on the mark rule makes the game faster flowing
Cardy the editing is just superb! So clean and smooth, awesome work.
The reduction in game time in 1994 was offset by stopping the clock for throw-ins. Before then the clock kept running down when the ball went out of bounds.
Good fix... Yes, so the game time was the same, but it was a good move...
There's so much missing in this video... Only the Mickey Mouse rules have been high lighted !!!
Im surprised you didnt talk about the second up ruck rule that was changed. I personally think that the play on from the goal square kick to yourself should still be around, i think it just is a traditional thing that didnt really needed to be removed and it is a skill with the ball that is just nice to have in the game.
I didn’t really want to include every rule particularly all the silly rules that have been changed as of late but I do agree
This is really well put together
Cheers Cam!
As a pom who came to Aus in 2008 I have loved following my local team, Geelong. What I love to tell football fans back in the UK is that their game was first codified in 1863, some 4 years after AFL!
Haha that’s awesome
4 years after Aussie Rules you mean. Please call the sport by it's proper name, it's become rampant calling it AFL when that is the name of the league NOT the sport.
@@harrydavies311mate, its the popular abreviation nowadays...
I left some spelling mistakes to keep you occupied...
Very interesting cardy love the video and made me learn a lot more about the game
Bloody legendary video mate.
Cheers mate
5:53 that runner lol 😂
Bahahahahahaha 🤣🤣🤣
Lol
This is a great vid Cardy. Pity they didn’t add the deliberate behind rule 3 years before.🥺
Are 3 flags not enough for you 😂
@@CARDMAN22 10 would’ve been better.🤣
Great video, thanks for making and sharing it.
Cheers Chris
Footy is becoming more and more frustrating to watch with the AFL constantly introducing rules which make the game more complicated for no actual benefit. You could abolish all of the rules from the last 10 years and the game would be better.
💯🙌
Not really
So stop watching it Philip.
Love mum
@@Rob-Angus I doubt Phil would think that believing footy's gone from being the best thing to watch by a mile to being the best thing to watch by half a mile is a reason to stop watching it.
Pretty much
Thanks for the shoutout will be a great watch
Great video cardy including lots of changes from 1858-2022
This is a great video idea and a good video. You can tell you put a lot of work into this.
Legend! Cheers mate
Bro I don't know how you make all of these videos, your insane keep it up
*_Finally, an afl history video!_*
Really good vid that would of taken awhile most of the rules that were changed where good so I don’t really know witch one was the best
Hey Cardy, great video!
Great vid cardy
Great vid cardy! Must say the afl has changed a lot in the last 20-30 years.keep up the great content 👍
Wow, didn’t know how much it changed
Fantastic Video Cardman 22! I’m shocked how wide the gaps between the goalposts used to be!!!
Yeah same they were huge
Thanks mate
5:53 that runner lmao
2:54 That's actually not well known about time on, even I didn't know that until recently.
4:52 This is different to the SANFL 'last disposal' currently - it was last touch, although, players could not shepherd the ball over the line to get the free.
8:36 Time on was added for ball-ups from 2006 onwards
Good summary of the game's development. Well done.
Great video cardy. This was really interesting. Really enjoyed this video.
Cheers! Appreciate it Lenny
This video deserves a million views!
Hi love the vids mate
great stuff cardy i really enjoyed and could see the effort that went into this! id say the most significant would be the stand rule or the 6-6-6. great video cardy!!
The 50m arc was first used in an Emu Export cup WAFL match in Perth in 1983. They also had a 25m arc too.
That’s a pretty interesting fact
Geez great video and unbelievable editing
Cheers Harry!
Finally a rules video love it cardy
I think the abolishing of the 3rd man up rule would've been worth a mention
You put so much work in this
Great video I can imagine there was a bit of research for this vid
3:48 happy to see my Norwood in this video ❤️ 💙
Cardy sorry I couldn’t get on those 2 streams that you did I was out all but really sad how strikers lost like that now where not in the grand final
Cool video idea!
The 6-6-6 rule changed Melbourne in 2019 because in 2018 we always started the game with 1 extra person back to stop momentum for the opposition
Awesome video cardy!
Great video
@CARDMAN about the Football (Footy) Codes all of Australian Rules Football, Rugby League Football, Rugby Union Football & finally Soccer (Football), which are,
For those who DISLIKE &/or HATE any Football (Footy) Code/s with a real passion would &/or will say these,
(1 One) Australian Rules Football, is referred as Aerial Ping Pong Football,
(2 Two) Rugby League Football, is referred as Thugby League Football,
(3 Three) Rugby Union Football, is referred as Thugby Union, &/or Rugby Yawnnion,
(4 Four) Football (Soccer), is referred as Wog Ball and also both Fairies &/or Queenies Game.
(NOTE) Aerial Ping-Pong
A jocular (and frequently derisive) name for Australian Rules Football (or Aussie Rules as it is popularly called). The term derives from the fact that the play in this game is characterised by frequent exchanges of long and high kicks.
The term is used largely by people from States both of Queensland & New South Wales in which Rugby League Football and NOT Aussie Rules (Footy) Football as &/or is the major football code. This interstate and code rivalry is often found in evidence for the term, including the early evidence from the 1940s.
1947 West Australian (Perth) 22 April: In 1941 he enlisted in the A.I.F. and joined a unit which fostered rugby football. Renfrey did not join in the &oq;mud bath&cq; and did not play 'aerial ping-pong', as the rugby exponents in the army termed the Australian game, until 1946.
1973 J. Dunn, How to Play Football: Sydneysiders like to call Australian Rules 'Aerial Ping-Pong'.
But on the other hand, for those and including myself who actually do LIKE &/or LOVE any Football (Footy) Code/s with a real passion would &/or will say these, which are,
(1 One) Australian Rules Football, is referred as the real Australian Football (Footy) Code of Australia,
(2 Two) Rugby League Football, is referred as the Greatest Game of All,
(3 Three) Rugby Union Football, is referred the Game that they do Play in Heaven,
(4 Four) Football (Soccer), is referred as the Beautiful Game & the World Game & also the Real Football Code of course.
Great video idea
Great video Cardy!
Good Video Mate!
great video man
The worse rule change was I reckon the stand on the mark rule and the best is possibly the 50m rule
The last rule you mentioned bout the standing rule is the worst one
Great vid Cardy brilliant
Great video cardy, 0:33shocked me
Great video Cardy
Best rule change, a goal is now 6 points instead of 1
Worst rule change only 1 person can be on the mark instead of multiple people
This video is going well so far
Awesome idea Cardy
Thanks, great vid
5:57 lol that runner
Actually it originated from my culter the aboriginal ppl and it was called marngrook footy back then
Can’t wait to watch
Great video. Thanks.
No mention of Marngrook?
Great video though really enjoyed it.
Cheers mate and I wanted to make the video as short as it could be, because if I went in to detail about everything it would’ve been much longer
Back in the day , maybe the 1990's they started trialing rule changes in the pre-season games. They'd trial 'em for up to 3 years before introducing them to the season proper . I thought that was an excellent system but the pre-season itself seems to have disappeared . Or maybe it's just that I'm living in Qld.
When will the AFL stop tinkering with the rules?
Nice idea
Great stuff
I think scoring is getting better but definitely not like it was 10 years ago. I think it’s moving back in the right direction though
I always thought the game was brought to Australia by the Irish as the GAA football game is very similar.
How can you possibly say the stand rule hasn't helped to speed up the play? Or the 6-6-6 rule has not had an impact? Why do you all of sudden start editorialising in the last couple of years anyway?
Hey Cardman22, how about doing a video on those strange AFLX pre season games from a few years ago ? ? ? 😶
29 01 2022
Not complete , but excellent, non the less , best rule ,must bounce within 15 meters , this means you can't tuck the ball under your arm and run. while being sheapherd , it placed the onus on the team involvment to aquire a handball ,and kick to possie , making it more team oriented, you for got the drop kick, which i loved the dropstab kick ,class ,and yuk the place kick , but cudos i liked it , GO BLUES... RARARA
Good stuff!
it's ever evolving, the place kick , why it's different to all other sports, it's constantly evolving. GO BLUES RARARA
That was great Eric 👍
Some of those past rule changes were needed and were important to Australian football history but these latest rules fucked up the fun a-bit.
I like the afl history videos they are pretty Intrestkng
I'd love to see a rule change where you can't take a mark within 15 meters of where the player kicking the ball just marked. I hate seeing players mark the ball then walk back 20 odd meters and kick to another player who ended up marking just a few meters from where the 1st mark was taken. Its a waste of time, and its an easy mark kicking into the area around where the firsts mark was as defenders etc run up field, and the man on the mark can't move.
Hey here from the Stream!
Guess who was the honour former AFL umpire of this year Australia Day honour?
Nice idea!
back in the day you could punch people in the face and not like nowadays we cant
Don’t forget “insufficient intent” lol
POV: Your typing in the comment section without even watching the full video
Good job
Gonna be great
5:55 what did he get thrown at him?
Good vid
I got a 50 meters against just for giving the ball to the other team when they were supposed to have it . Should that have happened?
The stand rule isn’t too bad if I’m honest
The 666 rule has definitely worked, not sure why that's the only rule you felt you had to comment on?
Very good cardy
5:57 Did they actually do this? 😂😂😂
What’s up with the text at 0:10
Bit of a rendering issue with after effects lol
Worst rule change was the stand
Great!
5:58 haha
Personally, (& I admit to a certain bias) I think that the so called Primus rule was the worst...
It stated that if a ruckman took possession of the ball from a restart and was tackled, the umpire should immediately award a free kick to the opposition team because too many ruckmen were dominating the play by doing so.
(Too many amounted to one... Matt Primus had mastered the grab of the ball and play on... The powers that be didn't like it and so attempted to restrict his influence on the match)
*After Primus retired, the rule was abolished!*
Same with what I call the "Buddy Rule" which was the running around on the mark. Was changed to having to take a straight run up or else it was play on.
Funnily enough this led to players getting surrounded while taking their kick by people waiting for the play on call. Which is why they brought in the stupid protected zone.
So they made a rule to stop a bloke kicking goals, then brought in a rule to fix the issues caused by the aforementioned rule
The 1955 bro 😂😂😂😂
