1:08 - “The first VFL/AFL game to be played outside of Australia”……I wasn’t aware the SGC was located outside Australia 😅😅😅
Playing interstate doesn’t mean playing outside Australia
Nice video. A few corrections: Corio is pronounced with the emphasis on the i and Manuka is pronounced with the emphasis on the first syllable. Australian states outside Victoria are not "outside of Australia" (much as we Victorians would like to think that the only decent things in Australia are in Victoria - hence the "National" Gallery of Victoria). The Shane Warne Stand is the new name of the Great Southern Stand, not the replaced Ponsford, Members and Olympic Stands that were built for the 2006 Commonwealth games.
Spot on. You’d think when you title a video the history of VFL/AFL stadiums you would 1) check what they called and how they were pronounced 2) fact check what you are saying and 3) watch the video yourself and listen to what you are saying especially when referring to games outside Victoria as outside Australia. I didn’t even watch the rest of the video. Crap video
Great video, great information but didn’t know Sydney was out of Australia 😂 1:08 , but still overall amazing work cardy
Literally the only mistake ffs lol
@@CARDMAN22 it was still an amazing video cardy, you clearly done your research and I think we all knew what you meant it was just a bit funny to hear that sentence
@@CARDMAN22 You used footage from the infamous "thirteen" game for Bellerive oval when that was from York Park.
@@CARDMAN22you also misnamed the redeveloped Ponsford/Members/Olympic Stands as the Shane Warne Stand. The Great Southern Stand got renamed after Warne.
Good video though.
love these kind of videos make more🔥🔥🔥
Thanks mate
My favourite child could stadium has to be Glenferrie oval (although now it’s obviously the G)
Great video Cardy as always. Wish the suburban grounds could be used for a couple of rounds each year again.
Great one Cardy
Optus Stadium is the best and that's a fact
what about north hobart ov
Vfl park was the best
Hello thanks for All amazing awesome vlogs could I please be all
All your best friend ever
Adelaide Oval best stadium in the world
like the content, but a lot of errors in here.
Shane Warne stand is the southern stand, you are wrong again, get your facts right
Geez mate no need to be a wanker about it
I’d hate be harsh but…
Check your scripting, you made some big mistakes.
You stated the the first game at the SCG to be the first game to be played outside Australia (read Victoria).
The old Ponsford stand was replaced by the new Ponsford stand, not the Warne Stand. That’s just the Southern Stand renamed.
You also said the Northern Stand was replaced by the Olympic stand (correct) but then carried on to say it was the new Northern Stand???
But by far the Biggest blunder is your pronunciation of Corio it’s not Co-ri-o it’s Cor-ī-o. You also stuffed up Albury which is Aul-bree not Al-Bery.
You also somehow slaughtered the word relocate as railocate.
You failed to mention that Fitzroy spent any time at the Junction oval until you advised they left it.
You also skipped over Richmond leaving Punt Road. We all know they went to the MCG, but anyone form overseas may assume they dropped out existence.
One could also point out you missed the sad but undeniably real existence of University
I usually like your videos but the errors here are annoying.
Geez sorry man thought I gave this vid a good crack, I’ll keep this in mind for next time
The East Melbourne Cricket Ground was not only used by Essendon but also the home ground for University Football Club when they were in the VFL between 1908 to 1914.
University Football Club also used the MCG for their home games too on a few occasions during their short history.
East Melbourne Cricket Ground (1908 - 1910) , Melbourne Cricket Ground (1911 - 1914).
Don’t Richmond exist. No mention of them.
The 1900 grand final was played there
After you’ve watched the vid, please give you thoughts down below! Would you want a video similar to this in the next couple weeks?
Yes Please!
Nice video
When Australian Football was first established in 1858, the Melbourne Cricket Club prohibited any games on the MCG because they feared it would damage the turf.
So there you go.
Yes
Good video but why do you keep saying outside of Australia when it should be outside of Victoria ?
As an Eagles fan it was fascinating to play at the WACA. A small venue it would be packed to the rafters. Ground was extremely quick and hard leading to exciting night matches. Our 8 WAFL grounds didn't have cricket pitches and Perth is based on sand, so to suddenly see AFL on a muddy WACA pitch felt quite bizarre.
Tin spaghetti
Thanks for the input blake
ABSOLUTELY CLASS!!!!! Waited to see a video like this for so long, keep up the elite work Cardy! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Glad you loved it Sirens!!
This was unbelievable mate, fantastic video
Cheers a ton mate!
I think my Mt Barker friends arn't going to be too happy about you calling their home the middle of nowhere.
in 1903, the first game to be played outside of Australia (WTF) and they had to travel by....train.. seems technology had been going backwards since then.. BTW, when the NATIONAL R.8 in 1952 was once again played outside of Australia - Albury, Yallourn, Euroa, Brisbane, Sydney and Hobart - did they again go by train? South Melbourne did not relocate to Sydney Swans, the team moved to Sydney and bacame the Sydney Swans. Lakeside oval 'no longer came into use'. Passion is a beautiful thing, alas this oxymoron does it for me..
Hi
I can report that Sydney is actually in Australia (1:09). In fact, the Australian accent you speak with comes from Sydney.
Do you think that Victoria is “Australia”? It wouldn’t surprise me……
10:21 just a small correction, the southern stand is now the Shane Warne stand. Brilliant video otherwise 😊
5:52 saw the what
Love these ideas
Good video, but a couple of points.
Bellerive was not Tasmania's second VFL/AFL ground, but the third after North Hobart Oval (the national round, and then a few Fitzroy games in the early 90s) and York Park. And I think the footage when talking about Bellerive was actually York Park.
Nice video, did you also know that North moved to Coburg in 1965 but it only lasted one season
The ground in the Hills ins't "in the middle of nowhere" its in a big town called Mt Barker which has a population of 39,627 people.
Last time I checked Sydney is part of Australia
Adelaide hills stadium isn't in the middle of nowhere! It's in a town called Mount Barker, its literally comes off the freeway to Melbourne, or back. Lots of towns nearby, car/cruise clubs love going around there, and Hahndorf has the best German food ever! If that's not your thing then there's lots of other fancy food places around, and good booze. It's closer to Adelaide CBD than Ballarat is the Melbourne, and not too cold for you guys, either!
It's 33 kms from the Adelaide cbd.. isn't it part of the metro area still?
Such good quality. Catching up to Footy A2Z in that quality. Amazing ❤❤❤
Cheers mate
I think AFL should put more of an effort into guaranteeing AFL in NZ at Wellington and in the future Auckland. I think promotes more support in NZ and I'm sure NZ govt would support to a certain extent if it added to tourism. I'd be fascinated to see practice match in Singapore (which I think has moveable stands) even if crowds are minimal. The video hammered home the point that Nowhereroos have messed up and turned their backs on Gold Coast, Canberra and Tasmania, only to return half hearted.
Amazing Video Cardy! I wish I could get this much comments on my videos. But this is such good editing it deserves it! I rate it 10/10! Keep it up and hopefully you will get the 24k!
Cheers mate
All good mate! Hopefully will try to attend your goal kicking challenge this year!
W
Gabba is the best stadium soon to be biggest
People can’t complain about GMHBA being a ground that favours Geelong. Most likely, your club parted ways with your home ground and now you share a ground with nothing permanently representing your team, just posters on the wall that are taken down after every game.
Amazing video cardy!
Looks like it would take a while to make this! Great job 😊😊
So hyped for footy season to start!
Great video???? Refers to to interstate stadiums as outside Australia and can’t even pronounce some correctly. The biggest one was referring to the new ponsford stand as the Shane Warne Stand. But hey let’s not being accurate get in the way of pumping out a video
This is class Cardy, really turned out well
Cheers Chappy
Hey Cardman22, how about a video on forwards who starred for only 1 or 2 seasons ? ? ?
Such as Jason Heatley 1997, Danny Delre 1992, Ross Ditchburn 1982 and Peter Bosustow 1981 & 82 and Warren Ralph 1984, Mark Williams (Hawks) 2005 & 06 and Jeff Farmer 2000 ? ? ?
18 02 2023
People who think if the grand final isn’t played at the mcg are idiots. It probably won’t be in the distant future. It’s be great to play at a venue that is bigger, isn’t named after cricket and doesn’t give tickets to members of a cricket club
Prior to 1987 Subiaco Oval WASN'T being used for AFL games. This is simply impossible. Subiaco Oval was used for WAFL games.
Outside of Australia?
So let me get this straight Playing a VFL game in Sydney means you played it outside of Australia?
Shut the front door. Get out of here.
3:00 The Miget
I think that’s a kid 😂
5:56 saw you mentioned that all Friday night games between 1984-1986 'strangely' only feature North Melbourne. North pioneered the whole concept.
The name of the Geelong district is CO-RI-O (CO-R(EYE)-O not CORRY-O. Albury is pronounced ALL-BURY not AL-BURY, and I did not know Sydney and Brisbane were outside Australia otherwise very informative video.....🏉🏉🏉🏉🏉🏉
Great Video Cardy, i reckon each club should play at least 1 game at a suburban ground for a smaller game because it would be interesting having a game at a suburban ground and it will definetely be interesting to see a game in Adelaide Hills!
Yeah that would be really cool
Perth stadium
Interstate games are not outside of Australia, wrong scoreboard was shown when talking about MCG, no mention of Kardinia Park Upgrades, part of why they left the WACA because Subiaco got light towers. Shane Warne Stand was the renamed Southern stand not the new stand built in 2006. Great potential video but a lot of errors for only 10 minutes
North Hobart Oval was used for 4 games by Fitzroy in 1991-92, and also another in the 1950's, pre-dating both York Park and Bellerive.
Hey mate none of the cities you named are outside of Australia.
Outside of Victoria yes.
Appreciate the effort you'v put in, but your research and fact-checking is disappointing.
You have the basis of a good video, but as many others have pointed out, there are corrections necessary.
I'd also suggest leaking some gaps in your narration so it seems less of a barrage of information.
Overall, a good draft version, but further work required.
Why do you keep referring to games played interstate as outside Australia?
Mate what about the redevelopment of Kardinia Park from roughly 2004 or 5 to 2024? Or is this another ‘Geelong a backwater complex thing.’?
Stadiums That Are No Longer In The Afl And New AFL Stadiums
IN
Norwood Oval
Adelaide Hills
OUT
Stadium Australia
Cazalys Stadium
The WACA isn't a crap place to watch footy - actually is a pretty good place to watch footy.
Outside of Australia??? Don’t you mean Victoria. Last time I looked the SCG was part of Australia as much as us Victorians wish it wasn’t
The best stadium was Waverly. Shame they never built a rain link there
Great Video! Optus stadium in Perth is absolutely insane but nothing beats some footy at the MCG
I live like 5 minutes from Waverley but I’m a cats man so my favourite ground is GMHBA
OPTUS STADIUM
Bruce Stadium in Canberra hosted a West Coast - Fitzroy game in 1995 too.
In 1925 the Western Bulldogs were Footscray.
Optus stadium
Quite a number of errors to correct here, pronunciations etc but the main one being the Shane Warne Stand, which is actually the Southern Stand, not the new Northern Stand as you stated.
Where’s Freo
I love Princes Park Carlton and TIO Stadium on Darwin, love the MCG too
Got a few errors in there, such as the "outside Australia" for outside Victoria and incorrectly referring to a few teams as other teams. Cool old pictures and footage, though.
Great to see you calling AAMI Stadium as it's former name, Football Park
kinda sucks football park is no longer used for afl games, it would have been great for gather round. but it is what it is
Great video…it’s sad that the clubs can’t play at individual stadiums
Lol can you do this for rugby league …nuhhh
I don't know why it's called the MCG ( Melbourne Cricket Ground ). It should be called AFL Stadium, since AFL Football pays 99% of the bills there.
It’s named the MCG because it was a solely a cricket ground originally
@@CARDMAN22 Cool. Very good video too. ✅
It's owned by the Melbourne Cricket Club, they are the ones who pay the bills, not the AFL. I am a member of that club.
Korrio Oval??? It's pronounced Koh Rye Oh if you are referring to Corio!
And please don’t hate this guy he’s prob only been to the GMBHA like me only the Adelaide oval
Sandy Creek Oval Near Wodonga Is The MCG Of The Bush!
Lake side Stadium is a Football pitch and soccer pitch in home to South Melbourne FC
What about riverway stadium in Townsville. Pretty sure there has been afl games there
Please pronounce Albury and Manuka correctly, it scratches my brain!
Sydney, Albury, etc are all in Australia.... what are you saying?
Incredible video Cardy, It was well made
Thanks a lot mate
Wait wait wait wait, your saying that a ground that I play footy on was played on by afl players 💀
Souping know Sydney, Brisbane and Hobart are part of Australia
I love in Albury! They sometimes play at Lavington Oval
Great video
Townsville wasn't mentiothere was a game there 2019
This is amazing. I'm going to the gather round but only to the Adelaide Oval games. The other games would be interesting but watching 5 games in 3 days should be fun!
Cor 'I' 'O', nor Cor 'E' 'O'. Pronounced like "Core Eye Oh", not "Cor E Oh". lol
Awsome vid Cardy
Keep up the great work
Kardina park is currently undergoing renovations to increase capacity
W!
Do you know why so many games are going to be played in Adelaide in a single round
Missed Riverway Stadium in Townsville.
wow great video, very good editing
The good old days when Melbourne teams had their own home grounds.
