      Not quite the full story.
He got Acne, and after years of being touted as one of the greatest child actors, by Walt Disney personally, he was canned. Disney didn’t even bother to tell him.
In a statement, later, Disney said that he was good for nothing but riffraff and gangsters.
Yeah, he had trouble trying to adjust after that.

Beautiful theme song written by Victor Young titled "Blue Star." Young wrote many great songs and film scores, his last work was Around the World in 80 Days. The title song became a standard.
This was Richard Boone before he starred as Paladin in the well-received Have Gun Will Travel.
Bobby Driscoll had starred in Disney's Song of the South. He received a special Juvenile Oscar for his work in two 1949 films: So Dear to My Heart and The Window which was about a boy that lied and when he really witnessed a murder, no one believed him -- except the killer. He did other work for Disney. He was Jim Hawkins in Treasure Island which was filmed in England, Disney's first fully live action movie. He was the model for Disney's Peter Pan and provided the voice in the film. He died just after his 31st birthday forgotten, alone and unrecognized after a life riddled with alcohol and drugs. Found dead in an abandoned building he was buried in a pauper's unmarked grave. He wasn't identified until long after. A tragic life gone wrong after Hollywood discarded him when he wasn't young and cute anymore.

This was before the full reality of Driscoll's fading career had sunk in. Walt Disney was a complete prick for telling the world how much he loved Driscoll as his own son, then cut him loose without so much as a thank you, goodbye or even warning. Even while his last blockbuster movie was being promoted worldwide, Disney actually told Disney executives he had no further plans to use the kid, due to his acne. While Driscoll was actively promoting the movie at foreign premieres! No softening of the blow, no suggestion about developing other skills. Very cold-blooded, cut-throad and reptilian on Disney's part, certainly a stark contrast to Tom Hanks portrayal. Important to remember, however, that by his mother's and his own admission, Bobby didn't help his chances at a comeback, developing a cocky attitude and not accepting the help of those who reached out to him. By the early 1960's, his hotheaded and reckless personality had Driscoll getting into fights, passing bad checks, using heroin, etc. No one owed Driscoll a job, much less a career, before, during or after his Disney heyday, the responsibility for making a living was on him like everyone else. But the bad luck of having so much, so soon as a child actor certainly made things painful.

More and more, Mr. Disney reminds me of the character Curtis from the play Dreamgirls. When confronted for his heinous actions, the character states he had a dream to create something new and special. But his wife remarks that in his efforts to pursue his dreams, he trampled over the dreams of others.

Bobby was purposely manipulated and used up by the Disney Corporation. When your mind is manipulated so early in life and you have no foundation, you will get into trouble. We've seen it happen so often. Turning a mere child into a "star," pretending to care about him, then unceremoniously dumping him is going to destroy his spirit. Bobby didn't stand a chance because he didn't have the skills to make sound decisions and no support towards developing such skills.

Came here for Bobby Driscoll. Am shocked how educational medical shows were like back in the day, this was actually really interesting and educational at the same time.
I wish medical shows were like this now, all they care about is the drama now though. No education involved
I remember one of the first reasons I began to hate Neil Patrick Harris was that commercial where he said TV doctors don't know a lot about medicine but know a lot about drama. Why are you priding yourself on that? It's making the medical shows purely drama that ruined them.
