i find it sad that bobby isn't considered a disney legend like any other legends after so many years. he deserves the credit of making everyone's childhood and his hard work, he deserved better than what he had to go through alone.
Agree! Everyone keeps talking about finding/exhuming his body and giving him a “proper burial”… I think a far more important thing for them to do to finally respect his talent and place within Disney film history would be to make him a Disney Legend already! I cannot believe this has not been done. And then to trash him so blatantly in that new (very strange looking) Chip n’ Dale movie… not a good look, Disney.
Bobby Driscoll deserves justice. He deserves a proper burial. And deserves to get recognized for all he has done. Disney shouldn't have screwed him over. Somebody please give him justice and a proper funeral.
Jed Hawkins ☝🏼I believe that Bobby will be vindicated. He was likely an MKUltra victim, as a special pet of Walt himself, dismissed when Walt was done with him. Evil will be exposed. Soon. Disney Corp will not ever recover. Stay tuned.
It's sad when you grow up watching someone's movies then you want to know how they are now to then find out they lived a tragic life before passing away. Rest in Peace, Bobby.
When I saw him I immediately recognized him as peter pan. I hadnt thought about peter pan in a long time and i see him and I just knew. When I learned what happened to him I started crying because he was so talented and wasn't appreciated for how special and amazing he was.
not Disney, per se. It was the new owner, if I remember reading because Walt died And it was actually bc he hated child actors in general, especially him
@@IronycheinPain Walt was still alive, Bobby did go to the Disneyland opening and Walt was very well alive then. I do think it was a mix of reasons. One, as you mentioned the new owner of RKO (i think) studios, which also controlled the money for Disney Studios, was Howard Hughes and he did hate child stars and didn't seem to think much of Driscoll as an actor, the film he did under loan for RKO was released a year later because Hughes found it mediocre and Bobby's acting unimpressive. Two, I think it was also the board of directors choice, I think Walt still wanted him for like other roles or something, but he did grow up, he had his salary raised but he wasn't getting jobs, so the board probably decided 'they were paying this boy salary and he getting no job, boot it'. In the end, it's just sad how it all panned out to be.
This is easily one of the worst cases of child star abuse ever. He was basically the male version of Judy Garland: overworked and manipulated to death, even with their own "mother" throwing them to the wolves for a quick buck. Such a tragedy. RIP
Parents were vile .they didn't last long .good riddance .as an aside Bobby is a lookalike for British actor TV personality Ray Quinn.always thought it.just read his mother was looking for him when he died as his father was dying so maybe I've been somewhat harsh
Nonsense. He was not 'overworked and manipulated', though you seem to think this dramatic description was real. Garland worked on more than one picture at a time, had pills to wake her up and to make her sleep, she was starved and only given chicken soup at the studio to keep her weight down. SHE WAS overworked. I bet you couldn't list two dozen things Driscoll did in his whole career. His story is sad but let's not thrown the baby out with the bathwater.
@@juliethompson5301 How exactIy were his parents viIe? It's sad that nowadays peopIe take no responsibiIity for their own faiIings in life and bIame everyone eIse instead
I think that Bobby Driscoll's life should be bought into the light because Bobby meant so much to so many kid's when he was making all of those Disney films. I remember hearing on Entertainment Tonight that Bobby's boyhood friend Russ Tamblyn was going to write a book on Bobby Driscoll. Russ actually thought that Bobby may have murdered .
Disney sure did chew him up and spit him out. You'd think that if Walt Disney were really such a genius, he'd have figured out how to put Bobby in voice roles until his acne cleared up. He was such an expressive actor, his voice alone conveyed emotion. Instead, Disney cheated him out of 3 years of his contract. So much for Disney's sentimentality. Apparently, it went right out the window when money was on the line. I don't know how Disney did that, legally. I guess they had all the clauses in their favor.
It's funny- some people got the kid glove send-off like Hayley Mills did, and some got absolutely screwed over like Bobby Driscoll did. Hayley Mills was lucky though that she came from a stable family that emphasized her finishing her education. It makes me wonder what Disney would have done to Kurt Russell if he had lived out into the 70's.
@@jeremyud Kurt Russell already had work experiences, and his dad was one of those 50 Bucks a Day guys you see in TV shows- those guys you recognize but never know who they are. Besides, from what I understand, his dream was to play baseball, so his working in films as a kid was probably like the rest of us cleaning up our parent's markets, or delivering newspapers.
If I knew Bobby Driscoll I would want to help him and support him and look after him. I am 33 now so I am older than what he was when he passed away. I was born in 1989 long after he died but I do feel sorry for him. He deserved so much better in life.
It time disney honor bobby driscoll for all he did for them and make a statue of him at disney land ! A shining star people will never forget ! He will always be peter pan !
Lifelong fan of Bobby Driscoll here. I saw him in Treasure Island in the original release as a very small boy. He held his own against the very big presence of Robert Newton. A great talent. So sad.
Stop blaming everyone else for his own choices in life. Sad that today no one takes any personaI responsibiIity for their own decisions & actions. It's NOT Disney's fauIt or his mom's, it's Bobby's fauIt and no one eIse's. Furthermore, he wasnt "passed around". Stop implying conspiracies u have zero proof of.
Nah... the higher ups didnt pass him around... Howard Hughes took control of Disney at the time. He did not like Bobby Driscolls acting so he gave him the boot.
Bobby Driscoll's story makes you wonder what other former child-actors, turned addicts, might have become if they hadn't been lost to their tragedies... RIP Bobby...
“Something”?! It’s no mystery...Hollywood is one big pedophile ring and it’s an OPEN SECRET. They hide behind and donate to BOTH PARTIES. That’s a lot of money...a lot of POWER. I hate Hollywood.
Probably more nonces in the music and film industry than anywhere. Dumb parents who only care about money push their kids into the arms of men and women they know nothing about. Allow them to be sexualised etc same with pageants..
Bobby, like so many Golden Age child stars, deserved better. They were basically used for their looks & talent & then dumped like trash when they weren't considered useful anymore. Disney released Song of the South to make more money off the film but didn't bother to help Bobby until he was already dead & buried. I feel so bad for his family. Hopefully one day they can get his remains & have a proper burial. Bobby Driscoll is an Oscar winning actor with a star on the Walk of Fame. He totally deserves better. Peter Pan is one of my favorite films ever & I'll never forget the sound of his voice & how it can still soothe me to sleep even as a grown woman when I watch the film at night.
Now some weeks qgo here in Deutschland i have purchased the DVD "Treasure Island" - synchronized in German language. The final of that movie is unsatisfactorily but kid actor Bobby was/is outstanding...:) By the way:Since a very long time I have a tv-recording of "The Window" (black/white) - also synchronized. (Das unheimliche Fenster).
When the studio system comes back after Congress breaks up big tech leading to the second Golden Age, child stars will get what they deserve but instead of the old "chew-em-up-and-spit-em-out" schtick of the past it will be the "break-em-down-and-rebuild-them" like the military. There will be loyalty to stars no matter what and stars will be treated as soldiers. "This is my talent! There are many like it but this one is mine!" That is how it will be after I take over Disney and sign actors to contracts to only make movies for Disney.
stanfordite Just like in the military, if you don’t continue to make the grade... you’re out. Same in Hollywood. There really is no studio system in place today, like in the 40-50s. Today most films are produced by independent companies, and only distributed by traditional studio divisions. Only a small percentage of films are produced and financed by the studios, with a possible exception of Disney, who has a very controlled distribution of products created by its independent units, Marvel, Industrial light, Fox studios, Pixar and Walt Disney productions. Each acts as an independent profit center. Also it’s commendable that you’d nurture past talent, once they outgrow their popularity, but that’s just unrealistic. Hollywood is a gig to gig environment. Actors, directors, crew and the millions of names now listed as you watch the credits roll, are all on a “freelance” basis. Even animators at all the studios know that when the latest cartoon is winding up, its time to begin looking for a new job. Child actors are protected, and hopefully are educated that this part of their life is privileged but fragile. Anyway... maybe you were being sarcastic or idealistic. Fact is Hollywood is not all what it appears to be. It’s an environment that can be very unforgiving. And todays Hollywood is global... it’s core strengths are ... Canada ... Atlanta,... United Kingdom... New Zealand and dozens of other countries. All thanks to the advent of digital technologies.
@@clurkroberts2650 Well the studio system will be coming back and Hollywood will be sent back to the 1930s and 40s. Congress is breaking up big tech and will tell the movie studios to learn their place. Comcast is going to be reduced back to nothing but a cable company while some companies like Google, RUclips, Facebook, AT&T will become government property with AT&T being reduced to nothing but a telephone service again. Disney will learn its place as nothing but an animation studio with some theme parks and all Disney will have left is their homegrown assets (Animation, Walt Disney Pictures, theme parks, Disney Cruise line, Disney Channel, Disney Theatrical, etc.). All movie stars are going back under contract to one studio at a time and one of the side effects of that will be the return of MGM to its former glory with "more stars than there are in the heavens" again like Clark Gable, Mickey Rooney, Lana Turner, Spencer Tracy, Ava Gardner, and Judy Garland. Keeping stars under contract to one studio at a time is no different than sports athletes signing contracts with their teams and signing with MGM is like signing with the New York Yankees. There is also nothing wrong or unrealistic with nurturing past talent out of loyalty. Tell that to Derek Jeter, John Stockton, John Elway, and Eli Manning.
That was really done. I have never been a fan of Disney especially after Walt, because they used up a lot of people and dumped them like trash as Driscoll stated. If it wasn't for the drugs, I think he could have continued with acting. He was a great actor and a handsome guy later on.
No one knew he had died until his mother contacted the Disney Company about a where-are-they-now feature about the Song of the South cast in the late '70s.
This was made years ago but I just learned about Bobby’s story like a week ago because I got into Peter Pan again. This guy deserved so much better. He touched many people around the world as Peter Pan and an actor. All he was doing was living life and doing his job and life just decided to be mean to him. All I can say is thank you for making this video. You put a lot of effort the interviews, and all the source material. I tried looking for Bobby’s artwork online but I find no sources whatsoever. The fact you included them in this video is beautiful. You saved history and have brought light to Bobby’s story.
@@figmentswild Thank you for making this. What a beautiful, heartfelt tribute to Bobby Driscoll! After all the joy he brought to people, it's especially heartbreaking that he met such a sad end, dying so young, lost and alone. The song that plays at the end of this documentary is beautiful. I can't find it anywhere, not even using a lyrics search engine. What's the title of the song, and who's the artist? You couldn't have chosen a more perfect song!
@MyEmeraldIsle The song is by the wonderful Alex Sherman . He is the grand son of the famous Robert Sherman of Disney fame. And the song is called "Give Me a Smile".
Elaine Evans He brought every character to life - in all his movies. From Sunday Dinner For ASoldier, to the Party Crashers. ( check out: When I Grow Up.)
Rest in peace, Sunshine. You will live on as one of the best child actors there ever was. Thank you for brightening people's lives with your passion and presence.
This film touches everyone who has grown up with narcissistic, greedy adults. It captures much more than his story, but for all the prodigious young people dealing with the mass mind of the untalented and inept. Rest in peace, darling Bobby. You are not forgotten.😢❤
Ya probably would not of made it this far, even if he hadn't drank himself to death. He played a hell of a peter pan though. I loved that movie as a kid.
The moment of truth for Bobby was when Walt Disney let him go. It devastated Bobby because there was nothing he could do to get his career back. During filming of Treasure Island, Bobby's acne made it first appearance. He was about 13 and developed a very bad case. Unhappiness became tragedy when his Mom made him continue to audition for roles he had no chance of getting. It must have devastated Bobby to get rejected over and over again. On his own, he found a job he loved. He began working at his buddy and classmate at University High School Lester Ferguson's Dad's Service Station in Pacific Palisades. He loved cars and racing. Again Mom made him quit, she felt the work was beneath him and the fact that both boys were experimenting with marijuana and got in some minor scrapes, even getting arrested for firing pee shooters at girls in Westwood.. Lester never developed a drug problem, he drank too much on occasion.
And I think had he been allowed to do a job he loved and work with someone he really liked. He might have been like Lester, smoking weed on occasion, drinking too much on occasion and maybe never becoming the drug addict which destroyed him.
that a very very silly reason to fire someone all teens especially youngs teenagers boys its call puberty that's part of being a human being that just not right the dector was wrong about that its actually wrong of the person they should keep him because he such a awesome actor
@@ashleybohnert250 Well, look at Jackie Cooper- when he went through puberty they punished him as well by firing him basically (not allowing him to have any more roles).
The movie The Window brought me here ... I was intrigued after seeing such an accomplished young actor in such an adult themed movie and what an amazing job he did. Such a tragic ending to an incredible talent. Sadly not that uncommon when it comes to many child actors.
He was The Peter Pan. He was the face of Pan. Bobby played Pan and went to heaven Robbie Williams played an adult peter pan and went to heaven. Now they both can finally meet
There's more to the connection to Disney than growing older and developing acne leading to his dismissal. Bobby's life after Disney sounds like a survivor of abuse unable to deal with his pain alone and finding 'relief' in drug abuse
How sad Hollywood didn't come to his rescue, or at least keep him from being buried at Potter's Field. They say that a Star that shines brightest in the beginning, burns out the quickest. I love Paul Petersen for doing the work he's been doing for the child stars of the past. He needs more support from Hollywood and all those type of people that carried Bobbie Driscoll on a Silver Tray and years later dumped him in the trash. RIP Bobby. You were something !💙🙏
My god this is heartbreaking. Child actors should all have their own advocate, separate from the parents or the studio and should be paid for by the studio. This poor poor baby. 😢
I hope that they one day make an accurate, blunt and honest movie or drama series about Bobby's life. Outline just how tough and cruel the world of showbiz can be.
I hope it would be a comfort to Bobby to know that he’s brought joy to generations of kids. He was amazing. I only know him from “Peter Pan”, so it’s interesting for me to see him younger.
Pisses me off how some others have done so little on Disney and are legends but he was the first kid on Disney and had made a mark for classic films that are iconic even now like So Dear to My Heart and Peter Pan
I always knew about Bobby's story because I love looking up voice actors, especially old ones. I wasn't all that surprised about his passing. Unfortunately there's a lot of stories like his. But it would be nice for Disney to give him a little more recognition. He's one of Classic Disney's most recognizable voices.
@@quaydcorbridge8426 I was GOING to watch it but then I heard about that and I just can't anymore. I get that it's supposed to be a generic "burned out child star" joke, but did nobody fact check that? He's one of the most iconic Disney voices. He deserves more respect than that.
I just watched Song of the South again. Bobby has always been a favorite of mine. I did not realize he was the voice of Peter Pan though. Mind blown. What an absolutely tragic life he lead. I'm so sad. 💔
Bobby Driscoll said, "he was dropped like garbage when I was no longer a cute little kid, and I didn't appeal to Walt anymore." I sadly think that something very wicked, vile, nefarious, and even criminal happened in the life of Bobby Driscoll? Most notably between him and his very questionable relationship with Walt Disney. Jane Wyman said herself that she felt very uncomfortable by how close Walt Disney's relationship was with the young Bobby Driscoll, and his blatant obsession with the young, child actor. And, that she witnessed Disney on several occasions touching Bobby inappropriately, and even kissing him on the mouth in clear view of other people. I am sure many of you have heard these rumours. If you have not you can read about it on several sites, where they don't shy away from in detail what could have been going on between Walt Disney and the young Bobby Driscoll. I shutter to even use the word. But, perhaps Disney isn't as wholesome an industry as it appears to be? And, most especially not the founder himself, Walt Disney. A lot of questions, and very few answers and closure on the matter of the loss of such a promising, young actor at the early age of just 31. Dear Lord, that is the beginning of life for some people. How completely tragic and heartbreaking. God Bless Bobby Driscoll, and may his great talent, legacy, films, and the love and joy he provided and gave so many never be forgotten. .
Walt was a mason. He was all into the occult world and being a mason, exploiting children this way is in their playbook. He was anything but wholesome.
This doesn't surprise me. I have a friend whose dad worked in the industry (and has various celebrity connections) and she told me many years ago about how child stars are abused in Hollywood and that the Disney studio was the worst offender. Kids are regularly passed around like a blunt between executives and others. It's no wonder former child stars are often screwed up.
@@wildflower815 This is from the Bobby Driscoll archive: Ruth Warrick Co-Star “This [Disney Executive] gave Bobby a kiss. It wasn’t on the cheek. It was a wet one, real sloppy, that lingered far too long. It seemed inappropriate” - Ruth Warrick, played Bobby’s mother in Song of the South.
That’s so sad to hear , that perhaps something inappropriate was going on & MR DISNEY was not who we thought , what kind of a world is this that we live in ? Yes they used & abuse these children in movies , & maybe parents once were very naive .Poor BOBBY DRISCOLL , just let your kids be kids keep them safe from stardom they don’t need it .
Ive always had a special place in my heart for BOBBY...that darling little boy.who was such a wonderful actor...it breaks my heart how Hollywood threw him away....l pray God gathered you up in His arms and took him home....WALK WITH THE ANGELS SWEET BOY
This is naive…especially if you haven’t had to deal with an addict at this level. He was in a bad way. His own mother didn’t start to look for him until 1969 when his father was dying from a terminal illness!
Old comment, but I think you kinda have to put this in the perspective of the times. First of all, no social media or nearly as much TV and star publicity in the late 50s/60s when this went down. So when people disappeared from the spotlight, they really disappeared. Second, drug addiction was much less understood. Prior to the 70s, Americans were much more conservative and addiction was less prevalent. Things like this just weren’t talked about outside the home. Like you always hear about children of the 60s who grew up with raging alcoholic parents but nobody outside the household knew. Keeping up with the Jones and appearances was much more important in this church going, traditional America. Also, the trend of watching celebrities crash and burn in the media for entertainment really didn’t start happening until the late 70s. The 50’s and 60’s were more interested in just talking about happy, glamorous stories about celebrities. If the media knew everyone in their 20s/early 30s favorite childhood role model was majorly f*cking up, they weren’t going to say anything about it. If they had known, I’m sure they would have cared and maybe he could have gotten help before it was too late.
Really like the way you humanized him at the end of the doc. Great note to end on. Signed the petition as well. Give credit where credit is due, Disney! The least you can do is properly pay tribute to his accomplishments. And remember, he was like 7 when he was in song of the south. He should be immune to the wrath of the court of public opinion on that one.
I have 11 of his movies, including “Song Of The South “, And 3 TV episodes. What an incredible actor.....( and what a tragic story). Bobby Driscoll is missing from almost every list that he should be on. It’s like “ people” want to erase him from memory. Thanks for posting this. 📻🙂
Unfortunately in the stupid chip and dale movie they made Peter Pan a villain, which is very wrong because Peter Pan was a good person and he was never a villain no matter how hard they tried
Unfortunately I never knew much about Bobby Driscoll until watching 👀 this documentary a while back, have watched it several times and I break down everytime at the end, maybe I see 👀 a lot in him that i have seen in me over the years, this is pure gold and it I am glad that Bobby isn't forgeten. Bobby deserves his story to be told to everyone... The song at the end is priceless.
WHAT A WONDERFUL FILM. Well produced and edited. He does deserve to be a Disney ledged! I'm 70 and saw Peter Pan in first run. also Treasure island and have never forgotten his performance. R.I.P. Mr. Driscoll.
I want bobby driscoll to be Disney's legends please I love his performances in everything he did if he get in disney legends I be so happy for him he deserves it I'm a big bobby driscoll fan he's so funny in those movies
It's called, "show business" not "show friends". It's not right, but that's the biz for you. Even regular jobs are increasingly treating us as disposable. The factthat he fell into drugs and couldn't "navigate adult life" was his parents' fault. His mother obviously kept pushing him into the biz even when he started questioning it and wanted to try something else. She thought it was beneath him. It's also his fault he chose to use drugs. Unfortunately, Bobby's story isn't the only sad story in Hollywood for child stars. Many former kid actors for one reason or another crash and burn unless they have stable families and are able to find a different way to live after their acting career ends.
And here we are where the people behind the Disney logo can just casually make fun of your death and make you seem like the villain in the story. What a time to be alive...
@@Finn_River yep and I have a theory they just hate him after everything he has done for them. I mean look at what they did. Song of the south is band Peter Pan has a warning on Disney+ next thing you know they’re gonna band that movie too. They already took down splash Mountain ever since Walt and his family didn’t own the company anymore, it has gone down the drain and all they care about is money and they always put politics, which is only one side in shows and movies and that’s ridiculous they don’t even put Walt Disney in their shows and parades at Disney World or Disneyland because they don’t want conservative views, I can just go on and on it’s a love-hate relationship that we all have I think with Disney

Hearing this now is just tragically sad I grew up watching Peter Pan and love that Peter Pan character and I always wondered where the actor would be but hearing what happened to him is just tragic and just sad Rest In Peace Bobby
Everyone has the choice whether or not to do drugs, but Bobby did NOT deserve this. Disney is cold and heartless, makes me lose admiration for the man himself, Walt. Bobby’s life story needs to be told in a brutally honest way. Someone pick up the BIOPIC!!!
Of course I am one to come from the Chip and dale movie, but right before I was introduced of the backstory of Peter Pan my twin told me about what happened. After listening and watching what had happened I wanted to know more and found this video.
As a lifelong fan of Bobby's work with Disney, it's only when I learned more about his personal life throughout the years, the more I discovered, the sadder I became. I own the original press photo seen at 31:50, taken at one of his court hearings, and I've seen his collage work as well as photos of him during his days as a beatnik. As others have said, he ultimately made the decisions that led to his demise, but like a few stars I have read about, Bobby Driscoll is definitely one that really never stood a chance. Lost boy indeed.
It’s very sad and tragic what happened to Bobby Driscoll. As a matter of fact, his whole story was used as the villain backstory for Peter Pan in the Disney+ movie “chip and Dale rescue Rangers“. And frankly, I find their take on this tragic story to be highly insensitive and offensive.
His performance as a young teenager in The Happy Time is really worth seeing if you can. He plays a boy in a loving French Canadian home. It also stars Louis Jourdan and Charles Boyer and is a lovely story. Bobby's performance is perfection. He did deserve more opportunities. Rest in peace, Bobby,
Thanks so much for the effort put into keeping his story alive. I have tried for years to learn all I can about Bobby Driscoll but the information is just so limited. Enjoyed the film.
I've just come across this video and it moved me tears. I've always loved Peter Pan as a child. I knew the Bobby Driscoll story and I never forgot it. Thank you for making this and showing Bobby Driscoll's story. Only wish Disney cared this much.
he was always a good actor, ironically i think what was his advantage as a child is what ended up working against him when he started to grow up.. he was getting too old to remain a 'child star', but his face remained too childlike to transition to 'leading man' roles, so hollywood just didn't know what to do with him, regardless of his talent.
Such a sad ending. Hollywood chews ‘em up and spits em out ! Sad life of many child stars before and since So many lost to drugs and alcohol and crime. Sad sad :(
Jordan, I wasn't 'knowingly' familiar with Bobby Driscoll until I saw he was Peter Pan - and that's huge! His life was sweet until it wasn't. It's sad and unfortunate the ride he was on. Thanking YOU for feeling his story was worth documenting. Thank YOU for the time and energy into this piece of work. And although nothing is ever perfect to - and no one can please - everybody - YOU turned out an informative depiction of his young man through adulthood's life. Kudos to YOU! Be proud.
This is the third time I watched a telling of his story(this was the better of them.) And each time it didn't make me cry but something worse... Feel a sort of cold emptiness that people treat others like this
I literally teared his way of speaking seem gentle and sweet , if i was his friend I'll go out of my way to help him His role as peter pan has a special place in my heart as well as my dad's favorite movie. This documentary makes me want to check on my loved ones with even more observation, care and compassion Continue on resting Bobby. Peter pan and Bobby is the real reason why i am a child at heart.
I agree The Window would be my favorite movie pick for Mr. Driscoll. Sad that the Disney organization is too powerful to challenge on legal issues pertaining to certain abuses I was informed of by a lawyer. I was just a toddler when Disneyland opened in 1954. My family were invited guests due to the fact that my aunt worked for one of the companies involved in the building of Disneyland. So very sad all around.
He was probably the most talented child actor in American cinema. None of the phony cloying mugging of most young actors his age. He came across as a real kid. Life is not fair.
i find it sad that bobby isn't considered a disney legend like any other legends after so many years. he deserves the credit of making everyone's childhood and his hard work, he deserved better than what he had to go through alone.

I hope, I really hope that one day someone will make a movie about Driscoll.
How could you even cast someone to play a kid with such a distinctive face? Never-mind his adult counterpart!
Yeah me too
@@Spiderman7Bob7 Disney will never let it happen
I hope that one day someone will make a film about Walt Disney and his prey on children 😢
@@jeremyud Kurt Russell is still alive.
Just goes to show that if you're on top of the world & earning well & people tell you they love you, don't believe a word.
@@twistoffate4791 I meant wondering how Walt Disney would have treated Kurt if Walt had been alive out to 1975 to see Kurt finish his contract.

There are many like it but this one is mine!" That is how it will be after I take over Disney and sign actors to contracts to only make movies for Disney.
stanfordite
Just like in the military, if you don’t continue to make the grade...
RIP

(1937-1968)

He would be 87 years old this year…..😢😪😪😪🖤🖤
Ya probably would not of made it this far, even if he hadn't drank himself to death.
Disney cancelled his contract because he got acne.
Treasure Island was filmed in England in the summer of 1949 when Bobby was 12 years old and released the following year.

There's more to the connection to Disney than growing older and developing acne leading to his dismissal. Bobby's life after Disney sounds like a survivor of abuse unable to deal with his pain alone and finding 'relief' in drug abuse
Hollywood and disney never treated their stars like they deserved. Still don't.

How sad Hollywood didn't come to his rescue, or at least keep him from being buried at Potter's Field. They say that a Star that shines brightest in the beginning, burns out the quickest. Bobby Driscoll said, "he was dropped like garbage when I was no longer a cute little kid, and I didn't appeal to Walt anymore."
I sadly think that something very wicked, vile, nefarious, and even criminal happened in the life of Bobby Driscoll?
God Bless Bobby Driscoll, and may his great talent, legacy, films, and the love and joy he provided and gave so many never be forgotten.
.
Can you prove Jane Wyman said those things?
Walt was a mason. He was all into the occult world and being a mason, exploiting children this way is in their playbook. He was anything but wholesome.
This doesn't surprise me. I have a friend whose dad worked in the industry (and has various celebrity connections) and she told me many years ago about how child stars are abused in Hollywood and that the Disney studio was the worst offender. Kids are regularly passed around like a blunt between executives and others. It's no wonder former child stars are often screwed up.

Funny how suddenly everyone cares when he died. No one tried to lend a hand to help when he was alive and suffering. RIP Bobby.
Exactly
That's usually how it works. We take life for granted.
Nice virtue signaling over a grave.
Classy.
(sarcasm)^^^
Really like the way you humanized him at the end of the doc. Great note to end on. Signed the petition as well. Give credit where credit is due, Disney! How Bobby could just be abandoned by Disney after all the work he did for them is staggering. Did not seem to have the guidance to navigate adult life
Happens all thr time even recently

I've just come across this video and it moved me tears. I've always loved Peter Pan as a child. I knew the Bobby Driscoll story and I never forgot it. Thank you for making this and showing Bobby Driscoll's story. Only wish Disney cared this much.
RIP to a Disney Legend of his time who sadly died tragically Johnny,Jeremiah Kincaid,Jim Hawkins & Peter Pan (1937-1968)
I wasn't really a fan of the movies he was in but i do know that he deserved better! May he Rest In Peace.. and always be remembered 🕊
I love peter pan and song of the South
he was always a good actor, ironically i think what was his advantage as a child is what ended up working against him when he started to grow up.. he was getting too old to remain a 'child star', but his face remained too childlike to transition to 'leading man' roles, so hollywood just didn't know what to do with him, regardless of his talent.
Such a sad ending. Hollywood chews ‘em up and spits em out !
Sad life of many child stars before and since
So many lost to drugs and alcohol and crime.
Sad sad :(
Jordan, I wasn't 'knowingly' familiar with Bobby Driscoll until I saw he was Peter Pan - and that's huge!
Be proud.
Either way. This is an amazing video. Thank you for making this. You did Bobby justice here.
Bobby's parents both outlived him... Where where they when their son who they made all kinds of money off of their son????
Exactly. Horrible selfish people.
This is the third time I watched a telling of his story(this was the better of them.) And each time it didn't make me cry but something worse... Feel a sort of cold emptiness that people treat others like this
I literally teared his way of speaking seem gentle and sweet , if i was his friend I'll go out of my way to help him
His role as peter pan has a special place in my heart as well as my dad's favorite movie.
This documentary makes me want to check on my loved ones with even more observation, care and compassion
Continue on resting Bobby.
Peter pan and Bobby is the real reason why i am a child at heart.
I believe that The Window was his greatest performance-so damn sad that he died the way he did-and even sadder where he is buried. .RIP forever Bobby!
That and So Dear to My Heart
He was probably the most talented child actor in American cinema. None of the phony cloying mugging of most young actors his age. He came across as a real kid. Life is not fair.
I agree, I just watched the movie the window and he did a very convincing job. He was a natural actor.
Treasure Island is my favourite Bobby Driscoll movie.
