I remember stories with Uncle Remus, Brer Rabbit, Brer Bear and Brer Fox, the briar patch, the tar baby. I loved the song and I just watched the movie Song Of The South. It was great. I saw Aunt Jimama and remebered the pan cakes. I was saddened to read of Bobby Driscoll's death. He was a gifted child actor. I loved Treasure Island also.
I had no idea he was in Treasure Island. And the voice of Peter Pan, which I did know, showed how talented and versatile he really was. It's so sad what he went thru. Thank you friends. 🙏❤️🕊️
Child actors should be taught and expect that when they grow up, their career will very likely end, if not slow down considerably. Only a few, like Natalie Wood and Jackie Cooper, was able to made the transition to become adult actors. Some, like Shirley Temple and the Olsen Twins, moved on to other things. Fame is a fleeting thing for so many adults, it is even worse for children.
I know in later years, some legislation and controls were put on the hollywood "child actor" incomes. Several child stars had money stolen and were abused. Sounds like Disney worked him hard and then threw him away. I hope todays young actors get a lot more support and consideration. Such a tragic loss. Also Tim's voice and demeanor on his narrations are always wonderful. Thanks TIM!!
He was excellent in some of the early television programs like Loretta Young, etc. So sad that he wasn’t properly mentored and guided in his teenage years. So many child stars ended up poorly from that era like Chet Allen, long forgotten. Bobby was buried in NYC’s Potter’s Field and his remains were never found after that.

So sorry Bobby... people can be so disgusting and he said it perfectly when he said that he was thrown out just like garbage.. I haven't forgotten you Bobby Driscoll and I never will...
Ya know, I don't care what anyone says, Song Of The South is still a good movie. Don't look at the stereo typing, look at the stories it's telling. Just like Aseop's Fables.
@@garycarpenter2980 You may have a tough time finding it. As far as I know, "Song Of The South" is only available on video Laser Discs made by a Japanese company.
It wasn’t just “Disney Execs.” Walt Disney himself later said that Bobby wasn’t good for anything except “gangsters and riffraff “. After touting Bobby around, and doting on him like a grandfather, this was extremely harsh❗️ Bobby looked up to “Uncle Walt”. Bobby was, by all accounts, a very sensitive person. Imagine how this crushed him. ((If Walt Disney really gave a flip, all he needed to do was to announce that Bobby was available , and that he would be an asset to any studio who would consider hiring him. But Walt himself, did Bobby dirty. “ I was carried on a silver platter, then dumped into the garbage .” [ BOBBY DRISCOLL]. I have 11 of his movies. He was OUTSTANDING in all his roles. Very versatile. And very convincing. When they found him dead, no one knew who he was. It was a year after, that they learned who he was. He was also quite an artist. Many of his Collages were highly praised. 📻😢
I didn't know Bobby Sherman became a paramedic after his teen idol days were "over." That's kind of like how Ken Osmond, the actor who played the mean Eddie Haskell on "Leave It To Beaver," gave up show business as an adult and became a California Highway Patrol officer, complete with a motorcycle.
Bobby Driscoll should have been cast as Chekov on Star Trek. No offense to Walter Koenig tho. I mean, if Gene Roddenberry helped Bobby at the time, his drug habit would have been gone.
Yea, Disney is what happened to him. So what he had acne he was a teen, teens get acne. I know they had it when they were teens also. But it is a shame that he couldn't go and talk to someone that could have kept him away from drugs. And it is a shame all these kids that know what drugs can do to you and they still choose to take them and most end up dead.
🤔 The Disney company were no different from any other 🎥 movie studios. When any actor was no longer any use, or too old etc, they would soon find themselves out on the street. Nothing personal, just business !. 😢
"Nothing personal, just business." That's a line from the movie "The Godfather." Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) says it when he agrees to kill mobster Virgil Salotzo (I think that's how it's spelled) and his crooked cop bodyguard, Captain McCluskey, as revenge for the attempted murder of Michael's father, Don Vito "Godfather" Corleone (Marlon Brando). Towards the end of the film, the line is repeated by Sal Tessio (Abe Vigoda) when he realizes that he's going to be "rubbed out" (killed) for plotting with a rival mob to assassinate Michael.
I just watched Peter Pan on Disney+ yesterday. It does have an outdated cultural depiction of Native Americans however, which would be considered offensive.
In regards to all the commenters on this thread who apparently aren't bothered by movies or TV shows depicting certain ethnic groups in a stereotypically negative way, I have a few questions for them. Would you or would you not be disturbed by, for example, the old silent film "The Birth Of A Nation" (1915), directed by D.W. Griffith, which portrayed black people as lust-crazed brutes persecuting the innocent white people of the Post-Civil War South, and depicted the Ku Klux Klan as HEROES? What about the Anti-Semitic films made by the Nazis in Germany before and during World War Two, like "The Eternal Jew" and "Jud Suss," which showed the Jewish people as dirty and wicked "parasites" who are only interested in making money, even by dishonest ways, and who spread evil and corruption throughout the entire world? Would you be okay with them, or would you be repulsed and disgusted by such hatemongering propaganda?
@@michaelpalmieri7335 You can choose to be paranoid about every detail of literary and theatrical content if that makes you feel better. All ethnic differences have been portrayed in some way or another throughout the ages and we’re somehow still here. What about the immigrants of the past like the Italians, Irish, German, Asian? Are they all still complaining about all the stereotypical portrayals of the past? Time to get over this crap and start living our lives the best we can. Stop the virtue signaling!

I remember him in the movie “Song Of The South”. He was such a cute little boy. I didn’t know that he was the voice of Peter Pan. That’s awesome
He was great in Treasure Island 🏝️

Many ended up not performing but as producers and directors. There should be an effort by production companies to help in such a transition.

Not all child actors mess up. Look at Mayim Bialik, Jason Bateman, Natalie Portman and Hilary Duff.
Unbelievable what happened to Bobby Driscoll. Such a talented actor.

I felt very bad for Bobby. When he was let go by Disney, he began the spiraling downward of his life and career. RIP.
Sad !!!
Why is "Kookie" Edd Byrnes shown in this video? 🤔 8:16
I was going to ask the same question, because they were showing it when they were talking about Bobby Driscoll's teenage years.
Too bad he did not have family and friend support to seek another career like another Bobby...Sherman...he became a paramedic after being a teen idol

I don’t understand how family or friends or even Disney would allow him to be buried in Potters Field! That’s the greatest insult of all! Shame!
