Ershad (the dictator) had to step down in the face of protest by Hasina and Khaleda in the early 90s. Then in the 2000s Khaleda had to step down for the interim govt for election. The problem is, AL thinks they have elevated themselves since to the owner of the country (democratic dictatorship if you will). And they don't want to give up what's theirs.
