Yes. The same thing happened before WWII. Germany's academic left tried to run the country but couldn't create enough jobs, economic security, and food for everyone under the harsh punishments of the Versailles Treaty. This allowed the far right to make wild promises that got them elected for a government takeover. They spent a year or two making most Germans happy with lots of government jobs to work on their country's infrastructure and creating a lot of patriotic national pride while they rebuilt their military. @micky_d_designer: AFD is primarily an anti-immigrantion party, particularly vocal against Islamization of Germany. However, it has support of funding from Russia through back channels to align and support it policies and interests. When Russia gas money was flowing into Germany, they used some of that money on influential leaders, to garner it's support for its political interests. But Russia is also using media channels to sow discord and disinformation to elect political parties that hold it favourably, that includes Robert fico in Slovakia, Trump in USA, Orban in Germany, Mary la Pen in France, and other far-right parties in EU countries. There is another pseudo website world's socialist web that masquerade as a grouping of socialists leaning individuals but is rather a loudspeaker of anti NATO and anti -EU media channel.

It's so funny that you're trying to pass off these analysts from places like Hudson Institute and Carnegie as "independent observers". The Carnegie Endowment was literally headed by a former CIA director, William Burns just a few years ago. These organizations are anything but independent, they are deeply entrenched in Permanent Washington or what many people call "The Swamp". And make no mistake, they do have vastly different interests from the German people or any other nation in Europe. Troll. I heard every word just fine. Maybe you couldn't hear the words over your own internal biased voice saying "no! It's not Nazism on the rise again!"
Let's get this straight: AFD wants Europe to develop its own defenses, rather than rely on the US. According to DW that's bad. Non-intervention in sovereign states, which is the official United Nations policy, is... bad? Why? Because China supports it. German policies have led to massive inflation, massive budget expenditures on energy reconfiguration, and massive expenditures on sending arms to a warzone. That violates Germany's own policies which are to avoid supporting sides in warzones. But apparently DW thinks that these new German policies are good, and shouldn't be changed. Honestly, the scary music is not enough to convince me that Germany should escalate conflict with Russia, rather than seek peace. How can DW be on the side of military buildup, German subordination to US interests, and against peace??
@@axell964 You should have a look at what Russia (Putin) said the last 20 years. He wanted to grow with the west and got time and again slapped in the face. This new tone regarding war terminology isn't that wrong either. A whole lot of western countries support the defensis capability of Ukrain, crossing one red line after the next. Now it's even ok to use clusterbombs.
How can a party claim "non-intervension in sovereign states" and refuse to defend this principle when someone (Russia) comes and breaks it? Seeking peace? If not for russian aggression there would be peace. In an ideal world everyone would play by the rules. But what happens when someone breaks them? If you aren't ready to defend the right to sovereignity, then there is no right to sovereignity.
This so-called journalist Richard Walker is more concerned about the future of US hegemony and NATO. He is a propagandist of US imperialist. Why does DW, the German Public broadcast, hire a British guy Richard Walker, as its international editor? They couldn't find a German guy to do the job. This bears the question, who actually controls DW?
DW is an American Trojan horse in the middle of Europe. They constantly preach the U.S. narrative which is specifically about manufacturing consent for the subjugation of the entire Eurasian continent and control its industrial infrastructure for the benefit of the American empire. The British have a special relationship with the Americans. The British are promoting the American narrative in Western Europe
Voting for a party that had multiple members working for communist china and russia, kind of does not make sense, if you want to save your country lol!
Why is NATO discussed as the only security mechanism in Europe? The EU is not only a political and economic organization; it is also a military alliance. An attack on one EU nation is an attack on all EU nations. The EU should be able to provide its own security architecture, independently of NATO!
Let's be real. If there was no NATO and Putin invaded thr Baltics or Finland do you really think France, Germany, Italy or Spain would mobilize their entire militaries and go total war to liberate those countries. Even if they wanted they don't have the money or people to do it. NATO has the USA and that threat alone saves Europe for now.
In some place Afd positions would be called leftist. Definitely not the far right wing most mainstream media potrayed them. Non intervention is not just a value of China, no intervention in internal affairs of other countries is foundational to ASEAN. Many countries in the region have personal experiences of USA meddling.

Actually, Volkswagen just invested $3 billion into new factories in China and are working with China to develop their own EV’s so as to be competitive in the rest of the world. BMW are also building mega factories in China. China welcomed Tesla when they were dominant in EV’s worldwide because the Chinese wanted their own fledgling companies to compete against the best, because if they were unable to do so, then China would never have an EV industry that was competitive. China still extends the same subsidies to Tesla that she extends to her own car brands, so that anyone buying a Tesla in China gets the same government subsidy they would get if they bought a BYD, so it’s a level playing field. Tariffs never work when you have an uncompetitive product : they simply close your markets off so you end up with local companies producing expensive garbage for your own market that no one else wants and BMW or Volkswagen would become the Trabant of the 21st century.

I mean, how can you be against the idea of a country's defense being the country's own responsibility first? And not that of someone else? Having alliances to warranty Germany can easily win with support shouldn't be a reason for Germany not be able to defend itself. And, asking for Germany geo political independence is just a normal thing. Each country should be able to make policy base on their interests. You wanna stay nato, protect the EU, and so on, we need to prove to people all those things are on their interests, not looking down at them for trying to take care of them and talk about defending them. I'm a strong believer EU should move more into US style federation, single army, single foreign policy, to prevent non European superpowers to dictate European policy and geo politics, out Europe on the table again, no single European county can do alone. That's the kind of speech we need, how united we can achieve more than divided, rather than calling enemies those who think divided is better.

Weidel wants to make the EU what Germany became during the Thirty Years' War: in 1648, Germany was a colorful patchwork without central power, a very weak overall construct that was of no use to anyone except the local princes. As we know, this weakening of Germany meant that Germany slept through the entire colonial period as a non-nation, and was only founded in 1871 when all the juicy parts of the world already belonged to another European nation. Without this fragmentation in 1648, the British and French would never have become such a large world empire, because the Holy Roman Empire would have continued to be the dominant power in Europe (and would have supported the friendly Spaniards against the British, for example). Russia also only really became a large tsarist empire AFTER 1648, with territorial expansion far to the east. The Dutch would never have practiced colonialism without the Thirty Years' War, because their nation only became independent of the Holy Roman Empire through the peace treaty in 1648. Fragmentation can have such a huge impact - lasting for centuries.

Nationalism is petty nonsense, but EU should have done anything they can to stop Ukraine war. And use diplomacy with Russia and not go along with the anti-China agenda of the US. EU should find its own standing finally, that's what has been the issue always. Its just an extension of US.
Besides, the European nation states are deeply nationalistic and if push comes to shove, then each EU state will think of it's own interests first. No Greek or Italian mom wants to send her kid off to fight to save a Baltic country!
Interesting! And what were you under the USSR? In NATO you have a big seat at the table. If you walk away from that you become like France, no no to proud for NATO but still a NATO Ally with an intigrated force structure. Let's get this straight:
AFD wants Europe to develop its own defenses, rather than rely on the US.
It is Russia speaking of being at war with us all the time.,
@@axell964 You should have a look at what Russia (Putin) said the last 20 years. He wanted to grow with the west and got time and again slapped in the face.
This new tone regarding war terminology isn't that wrong either. A whole lot of western countries support the defensis capability of Ukrain, crossing one red line after the next. Now it's even ok to use clusterbombs.
The defense bit is funny because the US also wants Europe to be a partner instead of a subordinate they have to pay for.
Because DW is owned by evil globalists.
The same guys who controls the rest of the germany international politic.
Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
Oops, I mean Klaus Schwab of the WEF.
DW is an American Trojan horse in the middle of Europe. They constantly preach the U.S. narrative which is specifically about manufacturing consent for the subjugation of the entire Eurasian continent and control its industrial infrastructure for the benefit of the American empire. Why is NATO discussed as the only security mechanism in Europe? The EU is not only a political and economic organization; it is also a military alliance. An attack on one EU nation is an attack on all EU nations. The EU should be able to provide its own security architecture, independently of NATO!
Because if EU rules out US and US wouldn't allow that

Germany lost the war, was rightly occupied, and had military bases established to ensure it wouldn’t misbehave again.

I hope they realize that maintaining "good relations" with China, would mean zero tariffs on Chinese products..... and that would mean laying to rest the entire German auto industry.... Are you sure you want that?

From Ai: Germany has never been a communist country. While there were strong communist movements in Germany throughout the 20th century, particularly after World War I, the country has primarily been governed by democratic systems.
The most notable communist influence in Germany was the German Democratic Republic (GDR), commonly known as East Germany. It was established as a communist state after World War II and existed until 1990 when it was reunited with West Germany to form the Federal Republic of Germany.
Fragmentation can have such a huge impact - lasting for centuries.

caz people are greedy. even if many of us are peaceful, the few are sufficient to fabricate events are create chaos though manipulation. It's like the problem of "cannot ban weapons" for a peaceful utopian space
Why? B/c the US military industrial complex makes money on wars!
Because "we" are "different" from "them"
Not good for the military industrial complex.... profits - gone!
Since when was labor and anti-war called far-right?
Its more of a central Conservative party in reality
In some ways yes but unfortunately their approach could cause a lot of issue for so many people in the world and makes even Germany more vulnerable
And so establishment parties managed to find yet another “far right”party…
Is Richard Walker a German ? It's an Anglo-American name.
Look carefully. He looks just like blinken......
20:40 listen she is right the USA uses the sword while China uses the pen.
So the documentary didnt interview none of the actual members of afd but their critics?
Nationalism is petty nonsense, but EU should have done anything they can to stop Ukraine war. And use diplomacy with Russia and not go along with the anti-China agenda of the US. EU should find its own standing finally, that's what has been the issue always. Its just an extension of US.
ok gloabilist
Besides, the European nation states are deeply nationalistic and if push comes to shove, then each EU state will think of it's own interests first. No Greek or Italian mom wants to send her kid off to fight to save a Baltic country!
Nothing new here every 50 to 70 years Germany gose back to it's roots
DW, I like your horror movie music background.
It would be great if Germanys foreign policy would finally change. We are currently just a vassal of the US!
Just like Italy 😢
Interesting! And what were you under the USSR? In NATO you have a big seat at the table. If you walk away from that you become like France, no no to proud for NATO but still a NATO Ally with an intigrated force structure. Now with Sweden, Finland and the Baltic states NATO is going through a transformation and Germany will not take part? Silly!
@@joemaloney1019 NATO should be disbanded.
This video kind of seems to take as an after thought the notion that the United States and the west aren’t responsible for a majority of the world’s current level of instability
Germany's entire economy is dependent on trade .
These types of political policies would isolate them from their trading partners at the very leat.
Besides that , Germany stopped having children 40 years ago and they are now not only running out of 20 and 30 year-olds, but 40 year- olds as well. They are headed for demographic dissolution.
