Trains: 6 trains with 3 cars. Riders are arranged 2 across in 2 rows for a total of 12 riders per train.
Two trains are loaded and dispatched simultaneously. One train is launched while the other sits at the bottom of the lift hill. Once the first train has reached the tunnel, the second train is launched. The ride starts out with a LSM launch up a 105 feet (32 m) hill at 20 degrees. At the top of the hill, the train drops 100 feet (30 m) at a 95 degree angle. The train reaches a speed of 57 miles per hour (92 km/h) then makes a turn to the right then turns to the left through a canyon then another turn to the right. It then goes over a 74 feet (23 m) airtime hill followed by a turn to the right into the Twisted Horseshoe Roll which features two 360 degree corkscrew rolls. The train then makes a turn to the right into the where it is launched 400 feet (120 m) at 70 miles per hour (110 km/h) through a tunnel under the station. The tunnel features special effects such as blue LED strips. At the end of the tunnel is a sharp turn to the left followed by a turn to the right into a canyon with a S-curve (original heartline roll location). Water bombs shoot off as the train enters the canyon. The train then passes under the lift hill through an over banked turn at 92 degrees. It then turns to the right into another overbanked turn followed by an airtime hill. The train then turns to the right into the brake run. One cycle of the ride lasts about 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

I went here a few summers ago and the wait for this ride was almost 2 hours, the entire time i kept thinking "This isn't going to be worth it"

***** I wasn't crazy over Rougarou, I think it's because the harnesses weren't tight enough, so it was pretty rough. If it got harnesses like Maverick or Millennium Force, it would be amazing. Yeah, I can't wait to ride Valravn. Maverick will always be my favorite though! :D
+SixLeafCloverOFire I got stuck on rougarou for like 20 minutes the last time I was there. Got sunburned but also got a ticket to skip any ride in the park. (We chose Maverick, best choice ever)

Evolution Artwork The drop angle isn't constant so your result is going to be off by a decent amount. It travels up at 8 m/s or about 18 mph.
+TheMichiganfan97 You don't need the drop to calculate, you an arbitrarily form a triangle from the highest point of the lift before the drop.

Maverick is hands down the best rollercoaster I have ever been on. Everyone that says that Millenium Force is better is lying to you. Ride the Maverick at night because the sharp turns make the it that much more exciting. And then the quick stop in the dark...oh man wooooooooo!!!
Don't ride the Maverick at dusk in the front seat. It is directly on the lake so tons of bugs come out at dusk. My nephew and I made this mistake last year. After the end of the ride, we were absolutely covered in bug guts...all over our face, hair, and arms LOL

We rode it at night and omg, SO MANY BUGS. Yes it is fun but we all had to cover are faces and squint our eyes because how bad it was

Best ride at Cedar Point, it's like a mix between the Top Thrill Dragster and Millennium force all in one. You gotta ride in the back though.
Why is it better in the back? I've only rode it front row.

The back seat is very intense, a radical coaster for not being very tall.
r1undertaker This ride left bad bruises on the inside of my arms that remained for several weeks. This one's too jerky for this old man (only 30ish when I rode it lol)
sorry you experienced the turbulence, ive taken most of my beatings from wood coaster so most steel coasters don't phase me. I ve taken a few real physical beatings in my life so u know..
Awww I love Maverick, it's one of my favorites! I love how the drop feels, especially at night, you feel like you are plunging into the darkness and the tunnel is awesome at night too, it's pitch black and you can't see anything and then suddenly your launched back out into the lights, it's just an awesome feeling! It's hard to explain but I'm sure anyone who has rode it at night knows exactly what I mean!
Ugh I miss Cedar Point, I wish we could go back again this year, we went on Memorial Day weekend and had a absolute blast, I love it so much there!

People, this ride is impossible to describe just by watching a video. You have to ride it yourself. Then you will understand why people love it so much.

I enjoy the fact that as soon as you came out of the launch tunnel, the camera essentialy when blind from the light, as if you had literally died and gone to coaster heaven , which is quite fitting for theis ride. And if you have never been on this ride, and inte d on doing such, go on it at night. The first 2 times i did was night. Even better when you do not know what to expect!

Maverick is one of my favorite rollercoasters ever. Originally, I was expecting it to be good but too intense that it wasn’t fun but no, this ride is so smooth and those sharp turns are actually really fun same with the inversions! The launch is amazing how it lasts for a very long time before turning. Not to mention, the lake and water smell amazing!

This was a must. We came when the waiting was virtually nothing to no more than 20 minutes, but this one was the oddball with a 1-hour wait. We couldn't figure out why as TTD and MF & GK are equally as popular. Anyway, I knew the fast ascent up the lift hill and the beyond-vertical drop would result in major air time. It it did! The drop is also amazingly fast. I was aware of the second launch in the tunnel, but my friends weren't. That being said, it was a pleasant surprise for them and I still loved it even though I knew it was coming. The ride following the second launch was more intense than I had thought. Though many reviewers complained about their backs hurting when the track would suddenly bank right, left, right, etc, but it didn't hurt any of us. I just simply brace myself and lean into it. This one one of my favorite at the park and I believe it was THE favorite among my group.
+Jeremy Wissel Haha This roller coaster is so amazing that I'm sure that if I rode it with my worst enemy we would be friends afterwards! It's just one of those rides that make you completely speechless. It was so amazing that I rode it twice in a row with my best friend (we had a fast pass so it was only a 5 minute wait for front seat), and rode it once with my mom, who didn't have a fast pass. So I waited an hour and 30 minutes for it just so my mom would ride it with me and she didn't really want to ride it because she didn't know how amazing it was going to be. She was blown away afterwards, and she honestly doesn't know if she loved it or hated it lol. Well then me and my best friend rode it a fourth time later that day! :)
I remember when I first rode this... I was so surprised but happy it took off on that first hill because I hate the slow climbing of the hill cuz I start to get nervous lol but I love the dropping part 😂

Seventh favorite! It hurts my head a bit, but my favorite parts are going up the first hill, and going VERY fast in the tunnel!
I just got back from my first trip to Cedar Point and Maverick was the first Coaster I went on. It was my first coaster at cedar point and i loved it, it was my second favorite if no my favorite next to Gatekeeper and Millennium.

The ride was painful with the hard orange restraints. It got so much better in 2015 when soft black restraints replaced the orange ones!

we literally walked on with a 1 minute wait time while everyone else had an hour. Fast lane plus was so worth it

@@coasterscientist8218 if you stay at a hotel onsite the night before range 130$- etc. You can enter one hour early and theres no one there .we rode maverick twice then MF and steel ven in one houre

by far one of the best rides at cedar point! I must say the tunnel and take of caught me a little off gaurd but I still enjoyed the ride a lot!!!

Just the way it swerves around combined with the speed would easily make it my fav roller coaster, but sadly I live in Belgium so I don't think I'm visiting this park anytime soon

When i first rode that ride, it surprised me how fast it went up
fun as hell
I like this ride but my biggest complaint is the head jerking, seems much more intense then any other intamin ride ive ever been on. like it was almost vekoma status at some parts, just almost. still its a great ride though and you gotta like tense your head to the headrest so your not tossed around as much.
Then you'll be pleased to know that Maverick is receiving new restraints for 2015!

+Raoul Duke Rode it last week and the new restraints are AWESOME. There's a lap bar and OTSRs made of soft foam. I've never been so comfortable on a roller coaster before, especially not one so deliberately violent. Best ride at Cedar Point by a mile, leaves Millie and TTD (both of which I am very fond of) in the dust.
