I'd love to see you tackle a classic vintage bike of some kind, perhaps a Norton Commando or a Triumph Bonneville, an early CB-750, a Z1 Kawasaki or a GT-750 Suzuki. Well done!

This is how a "Full Restoration" should be, rust extraction down to the bolts and it that places a new perspective on what " Down to the core" really means. Love every bit of this rebuild. Cheers and happy holidays!

Nice work. One tip i didnt see on the vid , when using crowsfeet socket on a torque wrench the actual torque reading is increased and needs to be compensated for.
I was worried it would not look as amazing as your restorations usually do because you didn't disassemble the engine further, but I should not have worried! The engine looks fantastic! Also, I think your video editing is fantastic. I often find myself skipping through other restoration videos (even videos that are only 10 minutes long) because they spend too much time showing some steps and not enough time showing others. Your videos always seem to strike the perfect balance between showing interesting details and moving the video along at a good pace. Thanks for another great video! :-)

I cannot understand why anyone would dislike this video. I thought it was truly wonderful as was the frame restoration. Instead of just giving a "thumbs down" I wish such people would explain why they disliked it and gave some constructive criticism. Perhaps even a link to their videos showing how it should be done...….
Love all your restos , especially the bikes . Straightforward stuff . Refreshingly free of newsboy caps on back to front or yellow waistcoats or brand new fake old overalls . . And other such bollocks..

Every time I watch something I'm super impressed, now I just need to learn how to do all the plating and get a sand blaster for when I actually get around to resto'ing my old Honda :D

The result of the exterior restoration is spectacular. Great job although I wish the engine had been completely redone but I repeat, an incredible job.

Actually, watching the way you work gives me the confidence to tackle a few jobs myself, (although I must add the jobs I'm referring to are not of the complexity of your Duke project). Anyway, thanks again for the inspiration. Keep up the good work and keep inspiring part-timers like me.
I used race a pantah in the 80s that was a trip down memory lane. Thanks, back then I used some fishing scales and a foot long spanner to do the head nuts.
How helpful was this! Not only for my speed triple but I have a Ducati Monster S4 Senna with badly painted engine. Don't feel so daunted about giving a respray a try now!!! Keep up the great work and looking forward to the next video

great vids, had a couple of 900SS over the years im off work ill (stroke) at 47yo, but when im strong enough I will take on a project like this to help in my rehab, thanks for my fix of bikes

I had one of these...very nice motor. Mine showed a lot of swarf on the oil sump drain bolt magnet after careful running in....nothing afterwards but that always made me wonder if the factory hadn't prepped the engine properly after assembly. Rectifier diode was problematic and a known fault...possibly badly specified as it was known to fry and the clutch was a little graunchy if you ever dropped it a bit too quickly. Other than that it was a lovely little bike. Great job...hope it rewards you with a lot of smiles per mile.

Thank you for leaving a kind comment :) Yeah your totally correct ive figured out that a 20 minute job off camera takes about 2 hours on camera by the time youve set up, taken a shot changed angles, made sure youve done the job correctly then edited it so yup very time consuming business but i love making these videos for you guys so its all worth it :) Merry Xmas to you too.
Judging by the amount of rust behind some of the case covers it looks like the engine ingested some water at a point before it was rebuilt. The fact that you had to do very little to it except some surface refinishing does show the quality of this engine.
you would think that this being a motorcycle it would be a timing chain drive for the cams etc... but its a blooming dreaded belt.... i hate timing belt drive on cars! never mind a motorcycle.... but i like the restoration and how its got on.... keep them coming... hope everyone has a happy christmas.. take care...
At 19:40 when installing the head I didn’t see a gasket? Does that not require a gasket on the head to cylinder? Definitely a different engine for sure love to see these old 80’s bikes rebuilt.
Yeah these engines dont have a head gasket the lip on the barrel sits in the recess of the head and forms a friction fit seal very crude but it works a treat.

Looks awesome, painted my S2R engine cases satin black a few years ago, black is beautiful, Ducatis too...

Did you only replace the cush drive bushes and not the studs? My 600ss has a little play but im thinking just the bushes need to be replaced
