- Following troubling revelations at the deathbed of an old friend, Rupert Merriweather, our investigators scoured the Miskatonic University archives dabbling in forbidden knowledge in search of clues. Now they set off to the rural farming community of Ross's Corner to find that accursed place where Merriweather's horrors were conceived. This is Mystery Quest, a roleplaying podcast where we play a variety of one-shot roleplaying games with a rolling cast of special guests.

Mystery Quest remains the best content to come out of any Yog-related creator in a long long time.
The Apocalypse Players has entered the chat
Kebab chefs (hatfilms) and abiotic (hatfilms and duncan) are great aswell, long term series TTT is good aswell ^^
@@hccdgvvfccdgn993 Are there yogs in Apocalypse Players?
Games Night islreally good tho
@@Ali-ey9sz no but there’s some really good campaigns if you want lots more Cthulhu madness, I’d recommend highway of blood :)
It's good to see Lewis continuing the tradition of telling Tom he has a ridiculously powerful item without Tom's prior knowledge
Also the tradition of Yogscast Call of Cthulhu, where the old pompous guy has an elephant gun
And also, it making so much sense that Tom really can't say no.
@@Merzendi gm ''this is not just unbalanced as fk but also pulled right out the posterior with thin logic''
player counter ''i am your boss''
XD all the ''DnD played with workmates/boss'' horror stories one heard ^^
And also, knowing almost everyone in the city.
Like Lewis's character Ameebo in the Star Wars Yogsquest, who just happens to know almost everyone they meet. As much as an ass pull it was, Tom playing along with it cause Lewis succeeded his dice roll.
@@Merzendi he passed the roll ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The poor priest did not deserve that level of trauma, but loving the cursed film!
jfc that film was terrifying
The image of the crew hanging the projection sheet by the nails of Jesus on the cross, looking down at a film projection of eldritch horror is just peak
This is probably my current favorite show on RUclips. Everyone is so charismatic and I love the character continuity.
I absolutely love that Tom B and Harry basically just created their own cursed object and proceeded to show it to a priest in a dilapidated church. Absolutley love the horror shenanigans
I like all your content, but Call of Cthulhu is just...*chef's kiss*
Creepy space intro is creepy.
Good job!
*This is a comment, for the Angorythm.*
Loved the intro, hope we can get another grungy 80s sci-fi movie-esque game like Haunting of Ypsilon 14
It was great, and I always love the "brought the spooky shape shifter/doppelganger back by mistake" trope.
@@HeliosAlphayes and the same way we get returning characters for CoC I'd love if we get those -remaining- characters back
I know Archie’s career has been tough but just wait until he directs and stars in his own hit film: Nigel and marmalade
I'm so happy Tom is doing this channel. I hope he'll do it for many more months to come
Years*
It seems to be his passion project, so hopefully it works out for him.
@@swearimnotarobot3746 It mostly is, according to stuff he's said in the Members Q&A's
Four more years!
The showing of the cursed movie in the church, just Tom describing how there are pages and pages of _Des Vermis Mysteriis_ slowly turning while interspliced with... *_Something_* slowly turning it's head. No description, just... A creature. Just... _Chef's kiss._
That cursed film tape is already such a great part of the story
I absolutely love the way Lewis roleplays! It’s so funny to me every time he announces that he has some new thing like “I grab my elephant gun” and just rambles along with it
Tom is genuinely such a fun storyteller. Without him these series would be so much less enjoyable. I love how he takes the games so seriously and allows the guests to get weird with it. Leads to such fun moments
I LOVE that Tom B made a video of the book and how it's evolved into an eldrich piece of horror.
I love how when the camera is facing Lewis he looks so youthful, but when the camera captures him on an angle when he has his head tilted down busy writing, he looks 40 years older until he looks back up. 😅
That intro was the most compelling one yet. I need to know what happened to Jimmy Morgans!
Jimmy Morgans more like Jimmy No-more-organs
Probably trapped on a derelict space station forever 😢
@@svenrio8521 Thank goodness for space uber
The intro, the elephant gun, the film and the priest. Great episode
53:24 Awww great memory Ravs. I almost wish Tom would'a GM'd a bonus there. Like giving him +3 luck or something for good karma. Not to abuse or whatev, but that moment was so pure lol
Sanity refill IMO. Not like MQ really goes hard into sanity (the only one where sanity was a real issue was Forget me not I think) but this feels like an action that would either increase or refill sanity. Just a show of basic human decency (also great roleplay should always be rewarded)
I love that they've created this nightmare cursed film?!?! That might have a demon in it?!?! Wooooboy and they show it to a priest?!?!? Incredible energy, incredible!
Oooh its really getting creepy. The evil film is so so good
I hope that poor priest shows up in another adventure
Quickly shaping up to be my favorite Call of Cthulhu campaign on this channel
I am greatly enjoying this adventure, of three people advanced in age and one very ill advised film making young man! Looking forward to the elephant gun, it's ridiculous and yet perfectly fitting!
Only one episode a week is painful, but God do I love Mystery Quest! Thank you Tom and the amazing editor(s)!
The sound design really enhanced Barry's reading. I listen to these thru headphones and MAN shit like this hits juuust right. Great spooky Cthulu tingles.
Love this series so far, the added sound effects for ambience really help build an eerie feeling
Absolute peak yogs RP, tyvm Tom for giving us these gems
The openers to these leave me so intrigued to see possible future campaign settings!
Did not expect to enjoy Lewis's Major character as much as I am, absolutely hilarious.
That poor priest xD
You know, a short animation showing the contents of Archie's tape would be a pretty good promo for shorts. And as a Nigel and Marmelade member I have an idea who would be the perfect candidate for making such a short animated imagery true. He used to be an editor 'round these parts but by now we do not even speak his name. We have Oscar now. And Oscar does a great job.
Also love the watch Ravs is wearing. If by a long shot someone knows what they are, I'd like to check them out.
@VanBourner Ravs actually talks about his watch in one of the main channel's members only videos titled "We share our favourite things". He said it's a Hideo Kojima x NASA x ANICORN watch - you can find more info about it if you google it :)
The cursed film is so good and fits so seamlessly you could think it was thought of ahead of time and not come up with organizing the spot. Great role playing from everyone!
I really want to see how the film ends, gave me super goosebumps and terrified as if something was standing right behind me. Amazingly described by Tom and I love the chaos of the gang trying to keep watching.
The Call was quiet at first, and now that it has dragged me to the end, I realize it's existence. I find myself on a Mystery Quest, and at the last episode released, having enjoyed all the others at leisure, slowly coming to look upon the horror of having to Wait. A few days, for now. Yet - after that...
I must have patience.
Another great episode! I just ran this campaign for my family as an intro to Call of Cthulhu and it's really interesting to see which parts you interpret differently than I did, and which parts played out almost the same!
Tom's laugh at 45:15 really lets you know fun things are about to go down
Correct me if im wrong, but there is an actual Call of Cthulhu adventure that is about a cursed vinyl record, where the curse was transferred to it when someone read an ancient book out loud.
I could be confusing it with a horror short story instead. I think there was also a bit where it took place in the 80's, and a cursed cassette tape was made from recording the vinyl record?
I liked the idea of curses being accidentally transfered across mediums/media.
The best intro yet! Gripping stuff.
This is my third MQ series I’ve listened to. Utterly epic American accent attempts here, LOL, you are all legends! Great humor, great tension, all the hallmarks of a great Mystery Quest.
The scene in the church was everything I hoped for.
Mystery time babyyyyyyyy
Mystery Quest is the best. I've loved all the series so far. All guests on the show have been amazing. Keep it up!
The music and atmosphes are so good, most immersive campaign to date
I love them for just pouring their own sanity down the drain by insisting on rewatching the tape. They'll have barely any left once the real fun starts
Always makes my Friday knowing there’s a new role play session to watch! :)
That opening...was sincerely chilling.
Damn, was so engrossed in the story I was surprised it ended and had to check the video wasn't actually just 10 mins long. Absolutely flew past.
Mystery Quest and Games night are some of the best stuff on youtube right now
mmm, the blood that pours from my ears when ever Harry tries to speak in the stereotypical 1930's announcer voice
Loving this campaign. Great characters, really spooky and the cursed film bit is golden.
This has now become one of my favourite roleplay channels. on a sidenote, first time I see the intro by Tom, I thought it was a bit weird. But each time I watch a new one, I enjoy them more and more. Now I love them.
the audio is very will done, props to the editor!
i love mystery quest with tom as a dm so god damn much its so good. great quality please keep it up
I LOVE MYSTERY QUEST. ESPECIALLY CALL OF CTHULHU. THESE RETURNING CHARACTERS ARE AMAZING
expected lewis to ask for a second elephant gun at the store
Absolutely loving this series! Call of Cthulhu scratches an itch and I genuinely felt scared when the group started watching the film back!
Ran this module with my group a few months back. Looking forward to seeing how it plays out!
Tom was having a moral breakdown once they tried to get the Priest to give them answers 😂
Thank you Tom and all, going to listen to this on Monday while I work. You guys are a lifesaver 💗💕
I love Mystery Quest! Arguably one of my favourite Yogscast channel!
Absolutely loving this campaign so far, nothing screans the ocult more than desolate buildings and library's.
That cliffhanger
loving this!! very very cool. i cant believe they genuinely did that to that poor priest
Can I just say that the sound editing on these videos is on another level 👏
Lovely mystery quest.
I AM enjoying it Tom, thanks for asking
The cursed film is soo good
Got a lovely backlog of these to go through, and Call of Cthulhu is great as always!
This is the first time you're running a Call of Cthulu adventure I've personally run. It's super interesting hearing all the different approaches you're taking, and I'm very excited for the post-game behind the scenes peek. Also, Harry and Tommy B accidentally creating their own "Cursed Movie" is so good and I hope "There's a lost Archie Van Der Holt movie that drives anyone who sees it insane" becomes Canon
I love that the party is made of 3 geriatrics and a strapping young lad XD
Just made my dinner, and what a perfect video to watch!
Loving it!!!
Love all of the Call of Cthulhu adventures, please Tom dont stop. Also spoopy film was terrifying, keep it up!
I'm loving this campaign so far! I always really appreciate call of Cthulhu as a system for it's unintentional story-telling, everyone failing the psychology roll on the priest really creates so much atmosphere, the unknown is so compelling! Was he possessed? Did he recognise the creature? Or was it just a check to tell us how damn scared he was? Amazing dm-ing as always Tom!
I'll be running this adventure on Sunday, my first time as a Keeper of Arcane Lore :)
Freaking hilarious. I'm thoroughly enjoying this series. More please. And if they can survive bring these characters along. 😂😂
Woo! this series is going great! I really can't get enough of this channel, I've been watching High Rollers for over a year now, and I'm glad this channel is also a thing. Keep it up!
I really hope we get another modern day Call of Cthulhu centered around that film.
I love that cursed film, I hope it keeps coming up.
A Mystery Quest? Always a wonderful addition to my day!
I first started listening to Mystery Quest only a week ago and I've about binged all of it now - major kudos for Tom for making each adventure so much fun!!
Very good pacing, and loved the artifice by which the players confederated the poor Reverend into feeling the Insanity... Top show Tom & Co
Quality work, Tom Bates is a great addition.
Would love to see animated best bits of Mystery Quest episodes
The suspense is awesome! Always enjoy the Cthulu sessions
I love Tom, I love games, I love Mystery Quest!! Please keep going!
Call of Cthulu is always a winner
Really been enjoying Mystery Quest, especially the Call of Cthulu runs! I recently joined a one shot of the game at a local board game cafe and had a blast! I played Viktor an artiste.. some say he is still painting those creatures eyes to this very day. Had a funny moment where my character and another looked at these horrifying paintings and I crit success and they crit failed so I gained sanity and inspiration and they lost sanity.
26:40 tom saying "omg ur little soldiers out" has me dying 😂😂😂
Mystery quest always makes my day
Ohhh baby this was a good one!!!!
I like the small town chaplin i hope he gets his roof fixed.
Loving this series so far! Listened to the podcast last week, definitely more fun with visuals :)
I listened to this while doing the night shift. Walking around in the darkness in a field at 3am listening to this honestly was creepy. Love It.
I adore your videos and love call of cthulhu the most!
Lewis is just so good at the little things as a Roleplayer. Tom has been great as well at adapting to the party's whims!
Bam! Time to get mystory!
I cant get enough of these
Harry is always great in these, he's hilarious and knows how to drive the plot forward. Also I don't think they noticed but the previous owner was said to have moved to Boston, where Merryweather was warned to stay away from with no reason. The townsfolk are definitely involved!
