Another great video Rus. The wheels look awesome. How much space is there between the tires and the firebox ? Do you think there could be any problems with the tires due to heat ? I'd definitely like to put some on my LSG 24x40.
Thanks, I appreciate it Joe! I just answered that same question a minute ago. The top of the tires are at the bottom of the firebox, with a good size air gap between them. I could lay my hands on the inside of the tires at anytime during yesterdays cook with no problem. Warm, but not hot like you think. The sun was actually heating them up more. The fire box radiates heat, but it also has good positive ventilation and heat naturally rises, so where the tires are positioned, there is no problem with that at all that I can see. I'm going to pin this comment, because I've answered it about 3 times so far lol ;)
Rus- I love the look of the tires and wheels. I would suggest a couple things. Put a heat shield between the fire box and the tires to prevent melting the tires over time. If the grill sits in one place for a long time one side towards the sun, the tires will weather crack and ozone crack. In the tire business it’s called weather checking. Also, pneumatic tires lose 1 to 2 pounds of air every month. So, every 6 months you might want to check the air to keep it level. Go down to you local welding shop and get 4 V shaped wedges to lift the grill 1/4 to 1/2 inch off the ground and put under the axle close to the wheels. This will keep all the load off the tires to prevent flat spotting the tires. Love your channel.
Wow Rus, Love the Off-road package. I'm sure you're very happy having the ability to rock the Lone Star around the yard like that. Congrats on the upgrade Rus. Look forward to your next cook. Thank you for sharing and cheers. Craig
This is one of the coolest videos Rus. This is awesome! Back in the states, I’d get tired of picking out smokers up with my brothers just to move them. Damn things had some weight on them. This is great!
That looked like a simple swap that is well worth the money. I ordered my LSG offset about a month ago and went with the off-road package from the start. We don't have much concrete out here in my part of the woods.
Russ love the upgrade. One suggestion I would have is make sure that you have blocking under the grill just in case the grill moves off the jack. Never can be to safe. Go to work with a jack up hand and try to tell your friends what happened. I was just trying to pimp my grill.
If you noticed I had good clearance before I ever raised the jack. It was not coming all the way down if the jack would have failed but thanks for your concern
You're going to love those wheels. I ordered a Blazin grills gridiron with the competition wheel kit similar to that. Just grab the handle and go even though it weighs over 400 pounds You really want to go ahead and put a jackstand or two under that don't trust that Jack You went the wrong way. You got a grill looks that good you got to make a couple trips around the block. Smoker envy.
Pimp My Ride...Smoker Edition. Lol. Did you get the 12 inch woofers too? You know I already thought that cooker was awesome...this takes it to another level. Very nice upgrade.
Yeah, seems like it. Follow up questions (I'm sorry if you covered it and I missed it...but this got my wheels turning overnight.) but do you feel like you and a buddy could move it around your yard without the lawn mower, how long will those tires last in one spot (any worries of dry rot) and you do they have a way to lock them once they are in place. Like is there a "parking break" (lol) of some sort?
Those wheels make it easier to move around and I like that. Rolling BBQ Grill Smoker, great little unit you've got. Thanks for sharing how you did it. Hope you have a good week.
Your welcome and thank you for watching the video! These wheels just made my life much easier when it comes to not only smoking meat where I want, but being able to shoot video in a cooler spot in the shade come summer time :)
Now that is all nice and pretty cool. However now you have a problem and additional expense, the rims on the lawnmower do not match the Lone Star grill cool rims. Surely you can’t have it like that 😔
Rus, those wheels are the smartest, sharpest looking I've ever seen! I'd like to put them on my Jeep. I might need them a tad bigger though, huh? What a terrific rig! I can't wait to see your brisket enchiladas!
They are some sharp looking wheels for sure John! So glad to finally be able to get my pit anywhere I want it. Yeah, you may need the next size up lol! Thanks for checking it out John!
Hey Rus, Nice upgrade... I have a Lone Star 24"x 48" single door off-set w/1/2" fire box. Had to bring in a backhoe to get the beast into my back yard. While your upgrading that cooker, you should take a look at getting the gas assist... It makes it so fast & easy to get the cooker up to temp!
Thanks, yeah, it was well worth the effort being able to now move my pit with ease. I have the port for the gas assist, just haven't ever purchased the burner yet. Sometimes I do use my weed burner to light the wood up. Thanks for checking out the video, I appreciate it!
Oh my Gosh! That is an awesome upgrade! Love them tires. Get it lined up, you don't want to just go around in circles! lol. That wheel package is awesome! Good cooking videos coming up. 👍
LOVE the wheel add ons. Can I ask ya a favor...can you give me the width of the smoker with the golf cart wheels on plz. Im curious to know if I could haul one in my enclosed trailer next to my motorcycle (side by side in the trailer ...tied down of course). thx
I feel like less of a man after watching this, lol. Impressive my friend. Those wheels...love watching upgrades like this. Thanks for sharing, brother!
@Russ: A tricked out Smoker Grill! Fancy that. Luv it! Now all you need is some LED lights, lol. Really enjoyed your video tutorial. Thank you for sharing. 🖒🖒
I was wondering when you were gonna get around to this. Even on smooth concrete with a little bit of sand the casters can get wedged. Having pneumatic tires is always handy - I have even seen ones with tiny shocks which worked really well outside. I can't wait for your next vid.
Lonestar Grillz came out with these last fall and I knew then that this upgrade was a must do and it’s very nice having the ability to move it anywhere I want know. Thanks for checking it out Eric and next video goes up at 3 pm Sunday, central time
Great Job Russ!, I believe I have the same Toro Z-turn, love how you rigged a strap for towing , Dealer told me to limit towing to 150 lbs...LOL, Guess they don't have Cajun know how, much respect.
I don't know if I would mess with the length of the exhaust pipe. If it's too long, it can create back pressure making it harder for the smoke to escape and building up creosote and possibly over smoking the meat or give it an acrid creosote taste. I would think that Chris has his pits tuned exactly where they need to be.
I know it's a small nit-pick for something that's not going to move much, but please use a thrust bearing on the steering pivot. Or a spindle setup even better.
Looks good... you think they would of gave you like a 4-6" just something bigger to pivot on. Curious to see how hot them tires get next to the fire box.
Checking the tires was one of the first things I did. There is a lot of air gap between them and the bottom of the fire box. Heat goes up as we all know, so it's no issue at all. The sun actually got them hotter than what the firebox did and either way I could hold my hands on them easily. A few more inches of pivot area would be a plus for a shorter radius turn, but no big deal, just takes more maneuvering to get it where you want it. Much better than what I did have being restricted to the front driveway and sidewalk into my front door and super stoked I now have them. Thanks for watching!
Smoky Ribs BBQ & Southern Cuisine I am here in Iowa, all that seafood down there might as well be Chinese food. Hahaha jk them crayfish we call them creek critters and alot of them are blue not red.
Yes, way way easier. Before I got the off-road package I could have never rolled it in the yard. The casters that were on it would bog into the dirt, so I had to keep it on concrete
Hey Ross! Thanks for stopping by man. Hope the fishing is treating you well, and thank you for checking this out. Yeah, I've seen these wheels on a number of things other than smokers lol. Pretty cool looking though.
Awesome upgrade Russ!!! Not that it matters because there is no motor driving it, but the front wheels are backwards as far as the tread goes. That's my ADD and OCD kicking in! LOL. Love your videos! Keep it up.
Yeah I noticed that too. May jack it back up and swap the tires around. The axel is turned the only way it can go because of the handle you pull it with but the wheels will be easy to swap. Thanks for watching
Hey Manuel! Great to hear from you! Yeah brother, the Lonestar Grillz are a beast for sure and do a outstanding job! I can't see myself ever wanting another smoker since now owning two of their smokers. Cheers Manuel!
I made the same update but I didn’t buy theirs because I thought they were way over priced. My local tractor supply store had the a lot cheaper and I felt they were a better quality also
That means you bought the wheels and had to build your own axels to fit the pit like LSG does. No doubt it would be cheaper if one took this route, but a lot more work. Your not going to find these anywhere that’s ready to bolt in the existing holes other than LSG
Say Russ ... What is the measurement of one tire to the other of the axle? I am limited to buying this setup. I have 36 inch clearance from my 12 ft tall shed and my house. As much as I like them. They may not work for me as that entrance way is the only way to my backyard.
All of the vehicles and 4 wheelers we own are 4 wheel drive. Never thought of having a 4 x4 looking grill. That looks like it's trail ready😂😂It's worth the upgrade just for the looks of it. Look forward to your backyard smoking videos. Thanks for sharing😃
Thanks Christy! It looks sharp for sure, but the biggest reason I wanted the wheel package is to finally have control where I want to smoke at in the yard, or anywhere else for that matter if I take it offsite. Thanks for watching Christy, I sure appreciate you!
That’s seriously badass! Nice work, Rus! That hole drilling would have been hard for me but I’m not a handy person lol. I suck at using tools lol. Cheers 🍻
Awesome Rus! Do those rubber tires get hot around that firebox? I ordered the offroad package on a 20X42, a week ago and didn't even think about the heat could be an possible issue?
It has never been an issue. The sun heats them up more than the fire. The fire grate and fire management grate is above the tires so even radiant heat doesn’t effect them
My OCD couldn’t help but notice the rear wheel treads are opposite from the fronts haha the set under the firebox are backwards. Next upgrade should be making it drivable and some beefy tires. (Pun intended) You could be the first to grill in deep sand on the beach with a mobile offset smoker! 😎
The fire is actually above them on the fire grate. That has never been an issue. They will get hotter in the sun in July and August down here than what the fire box does. Lot of air gap between the tires and the firebox.
Yes Sir!!!! That is a badass mod. I live in San Antonio, and have been checking out Lonestar Grillz for a little while. I think I will pull the trigger and purchase one. Their craftsmanship is excellent. Have you used their grill for most of your cooks? Thanks for the excellent vids. I am so glad you did this vid especially!
I’ve used it in quite a few cooks and it’s my favorite smoker but I do use other grills/smokers in my videos as well, but as far as BBQ goes, this one delivers the very best flavor every time. Tell them Rus from Smoky Ribs BBQ sent you 👍
A new idea is born! A new trend goes around the world... "Gras Cutting Barbecue"... cool! 😂🤣😂🤣 Many greetings to Biloxi Frank from Bo-Be-Q BBQ Bremerhaven, Germany
Not on this pit, but on the cabinet smokers, the wheels are under the carriage and can turn on a dime. Hits the frame if turned to sharp on the offset, but I haven't found it to be a hindrance
Hi Russ, Love your video's. Sorry if you've answered this but with the tires on there, is the height still where you like it as far as cooking? I also thought at 1st that they couldn't handle the heat of the fire box. Glad there's no problem there. Cook On Brother...
@@SmokyRibsBBQ how tall are you? I'm 5'7" and am considering the wheels on the large insulated smoker. that thing is a beast to begin with and would probably put the racks above my head
I’m not bragging. But 99% of the time I’m the beefiest dude in the gym (okay maybe the senior water class is going on when I’m there, winner by default). Joking aside, I am strong, healthy and semi-fit. Would I be able to pull this in a flat yard?
And I was just at a slow idle ;) That Zero Turn belongs to my wife. She bought and paid for it, and when she seen the picture on FB, she wasn't to happy about it lol!
I have an order at Lone Star Grillz for a 24x40 pipe offset with 8" casters but after watching your video, I'm seriously thinking of upgrading to the off road package. However, I was astonished to see that even with the larger tires, that you still needed to use your Toro to move your 24x36 into your backyard. Is it unreasonable to think that I can move an offset with the off road package manually, without a tow? My wife has already told me that she's not going to help me move it so I'm growing more anxious worrying about how I'm going to get it into my backyard.
No, it can be moved without a tow, but I have the ability to do it, and so I did. You can move it by pulling it by hand, but in a soggy wet yard, it's not very easy. Probably not bad at all on hard ground, but one thing for sure, you will never get it in the yard, even with 8" casters unless your ground is like rock.
LOL, your not going to believe this but I actually edited out footage of my saying, where is soap stone when you need it! Thanks, I appreciate you watching!
Damn Rus! I just ordered my 24X40 with the 1/2” fire box, and almost every available option! Now you got me thinking I need those new wheels to move my pit between my front and back yards! Is it hard to pull by hand on grass?
Another great video Rus. The wheels look awesome. How much space is there between the tires and the firebox ? Do you think there could be any problems with the tires due to heat ? I'd definitely like to put some on my LSG 24x40.

Smoky Ribs BBQ is the off road package really $800?
I’m not sure what it is now. I’ve had mine for a few years. Their website should say
Rus- I love the look of the tires and wheels. I would suggest a couple things. Put a heat shield between the fire box and the tires to prevent melting the tires over time. I like that new change. Being able to set up somewhere besides the drive is great. Thanks for showing it to us.
Thanks Phil and yes sir being able to move it anywhere I want it is great!
I like the upgrade. It makes the pit look more stable and not so top heavy.
I also like the knife as a pencil and the lawnmower as mussel!!
I'm loving it! Yeah, I just use what's handy at the time lol ;)

A real life hands on how to video, and ingenious lawn equipment utilization demo! 😉

Julie here Rus I have been watching this happen on Facebook... totally rocking this. Great idea and super cool wheels...
Thanks Julie! It was really fun doing a different kind of video for my channel, and I totally needed this upgrade! Now I can release the beast :P
This is one of the coolest videos Rus. This is awesome! Back in the states, I’d get tired of picking out smokers up with my brothers just to move them. Damn things had some weight on them. This is great!

Tell them Rus from Smoky Ribs BBQ sent you 👍
Love it Russ, great how to video looked great and functional mod !
Thanks Ron, I appreciate it brother!
Sorry, I’m a little late. Would this upgrade be able to work on the vertical offset smoker?
I think so but Chris at LSG could tell you for certain
Thanks
Russ, Awesome Smoker.!.!.!.
What an upgrade!! Now you can Ho anywhere 😀
A new idea is born!
A new trend goes around the world...
"Gras Cutting Barbecue"... cool!
😂🤣😂🤣
Many greetings to Biloxi

How much did the off-road package cost
Back then around $800
Can it turn very sharp?
Not on this pit, but on the cabinet smokers, the wheels are under the carriage and can turn on a dime. Hits the frame if turned to sharp on the offset, but I haven't found it to be a hindrance
Great video love the offroad package
Dang now I’ve seen it all. Next mod should be speakers and a cool mist system.
How much did the wheels cost?
opichocal
You need to go look at Jambos. Start around $10k. 8 month waiting list. This is nice setup
My son said the same thing about speakers lol!
I'm very happy with what I have. Completely changed my BBQ game. Starts at 10K? Wow!
Hey Rus, not sure if you answered this already but where can i purchase this offroad package??
David Santoy Lonestar Grillz website. lonestargrillz.com/
Not relevant with the video but I was curious as to which pellet grill do you think is the best on the market right now?
I can’t really say because all I own is the Camp Chef brand. I have two of them
That looks badass. I love it!
Thanks brother!
Hi Russ, Love your video's. Sorry if you've answered this but with the tires on there, is the height still where you like it as far as cooking? I also thought at 1st that they couldn't handle the heat of the fire box. Glad there's no problem there. Cook On Brother...
It’s actually the perfect height for cooking, but opening and closing the lid can be a challenge if your short like me but I’m still able to do it
@@SmokyRibsBBQ how tall are you? I'm 5'7" and am considering the wheels on the large insulated smoker. that thing is a beast to begin with and would probably put the racks above my head
BBQBOY76 I’m 5’ 7” as well. Yeah it will put the top shelf above your head for sure
Innovative and really sharp lookin'! Might even attract a hungry cop with a radar gun! 😆
I’m not bragging. But 99% of the time I’m the beefiest dude in the gym (okay maybe the senior water class is going on when I’m there, winner by default). Joking aside, I am strong, healthy and semi-fit. Would I be able to pull this in a flat yard?
Yes, I do it all the time with just me.
New show: "pimp my grill"... haha love the mods! keep the smoke rollin' brother!
I almost named the video that lol :D
Cool video. I'm more impressed that someone attempted tow 900lbs with a zero turn. Maybe I just baby mine too much. :)
Thanks for your quick response, much appreciated (and relieved).
Haha friend. And your a pipe man. Where is the soapstone to mark? Great video. Can’t wait for the next one
The LSG’z website advertises this package at $795. My food won’t care if I have caster wheels on but damn son! The cool factor is a major one!
It’s heavy, but it will roll good on grass but harder if the ground is soggy like mine is right now but hey I took the lazy option 👍
Love your videos.
Is it less expensive if you install it yourself? I just can't justify $750 for wheels on my BBQ pit.
I have no idea. You would have to contact Lonestar Grillz
Hey Russ great video but your front tires are on backwards LOL
That’s the way they came. I don’t plan on going over 30 mph so I didn’t bother changing them 😂 should still roll just fine 😎
From Baton Rouge Louisiana
A couple cup holders, sound system, and I'd call that my daily driver! Haha Nice stuff my friend. New sub here!
Looking good!
Awesome, now I can go to work!
