Great explanation Chris. I got the ½” box and it holds the temps beautifully here in Spring, TX. Coming up on a year now and I'm still giddy about my Lone Star Grill 😍😍😍!
Enjoyed the lesson on the differences in your fireboxes. My 1/4" works perfectly down here in Mississippi, but I do like that 1/2" griddle vs the 1/4" griddle. May upgrade to that at some point.
Looking at your 24x48 offset, 1/2 vs 1/4 in box is my dilemma . I'm cooking in FL so I am sure 1/4 is fine but that 1/2 is pretty boss ! Thanks for the video .
Going with a 1/2 in and placing an order this summer hopefully. Wife and I are making a trip to Texas for a mini vacation and we will stop at your place Chris one way or the other.
Awesome video! BUT, I can't be the only one that looked at this video like a kid seeing Disney World for the first time!!! I just want to go cook on everything thin there! lol
Nice video Chris really helpful in my decision to order a pit, With as much as these pits cost (and I believe they are worth it) you guys need to spend a little of that money on better mic's and sound production for your videos, sorry just my 2 cents but the lack of sound quality really makes it hard to to hear some of the info.
That really helps when making your fire box selection. I want to have more information on the warmer box. I wondering if I can get the warmer oven temperatures up high enough to bake bread?
lonestargrillz I see so much potential to the Lone Star offset smoker. Plenty if room in the warmer to bake breads and make sides while you’re slow roasting/smoking the main course. I’d love to do a Thanksgiving video preparing the entire meal in one. Thanks.
I was curious if you opt for the 1/4" you mentioned that it can last a lifetime. My question is how do you recommend treating the inside from rust. I know some use oil like a cast iron skillet. Typically a firebox is the weakest link in a smoker's longevity.
Why not offer an insulated firebox with only 5 sides so you can accommodate customers that prefer insulated box without forfeiting the griddle cook top?
Great video but it would be even better with some kind of audio device for better audio ..the info you share is such valuable but the sound is not bringing your content to shine ..just my 2 cents
Very informative. Perhaps your next could be comparing the benefits of barrel, vs the cabinets, vs the vertical vs the 20s.

Glad to hear your still enjoying it

OH My Goodness 1/2" FIRE BOX that insane! I LOVE IT
I have ordered my 24“48“ 1/2 firebox...to Germany...seems the right decision
Quality goes in before the name goes on. One day I’ll own one. Amazing pits.
Great info, that was a really helpful explanation on the differences.
Thank you for the detailed explanation! Should help when I’m financially ready to order one!
Great video, appreciate the info on the fire boxes. Thanks
When I’m in the position to order, I need the 1/2 in for sure. It being a huge investment, I can’t have the thinner box burn out.

Look forward to showing you around

Nice video Chris thanks for the info
Much love from Philly!
Finally ordered my smoker! Cant wait for it to be done! Definitely taking a trip down there to pick it up
We look forward to meeting you when you come down to pick it up.
Congrats on 5,000 subscribers! Big milestone!
Such a good tutorial! I want one!
lonestargrillz - I'm curious as to why you don't make a version with an insulated 1/2 " box with the Gill / Griddle on top as well.

Yes you can and your right need to do a new warming oven video to describe it in more detail because its so much more than a warming oven

Because of the double walled steel, I wonder if the insulated fire box is a lot more expensive
Thanks Chris!

The key is to keep the ashes cleaned out and treat the inside like a cast iron skillet, oil it up after every time you use it.
How much is the half inch fire box. I can’t find the prices any where
i just upgraded mine and its about $700 more
Do you guys make any reverse flow models
Does it take longer for the smoker to get to temp (225/250) with the 1/2” box vs the 1/4? I’m assuming yes, but once there, less temp fluctuation?
No it doesn't really take any longer for one bow to heat up compared tot he other.
Can you use a charcoal basket in your fire box instead of just using splits ?
You can use charcoal, they offer a nice charcoal basket that fits the firebox
Hayden Mcmilla
hello
Hayden Mcmillan no
Yes some customers only use charcoal, if your interested in that then the charcoal basket is a great add on
@@lawrencecollins8111 Wrong!

a $35 lapel/directional mic would be great and much appreciated. great info and video otherwise
Didn't know Philip Rivers sold smokers. He needs to though with all those kids.
Lol. Good one!
