Hebrews 1:8 - The Context Reveals the Truth

  • Concerning the serious problems with the Trinitarian interpretation and translation of Hebrews 1:8.
See the "Trinity Delusion" website for more details. Link is on the banner of my RUclips home page.
When Gabriel told Mary that God would give to Jesus the throne of his father David, he wasn't referring to inheriting a chair from David was he? He was referring to the Kingly authority which that throne signifies. David sat on the throne of Yahweh as God's Christ, His Anointed One. David executed God's authority over the nation of Israel. The Kingly authority by which he ruled was God Himself, "Your throne the God." This is the concept at Hebrews 1:8 and Psalm 45:6.
If the Greek nominatives "the Spirit the Holy" (το πνευμα το αγιον) are so easily understood as what Spirit we are referring to, why is it that Trinitarians have so much difficulty understanding "the throne the God" (ο θρονος ο θεος) is what throne we are referring to?
Also see the following link to understand how Hebrews 1:8-9 is a "dual prophecy" referring both to an ancient Davidic King of Israel as well as to the risen Jesus: www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIy3Z...

Great video brother! Preconceptions, presuppositions and traditions of men, all are very powerful in leading people astray and covering up truth. But if God could get through to you, and me, and others like us, then there is hope for all. Keep teaching the truth! The Bible makes so much more sense when understood apart from the shackles of an incomprehensible trinity! Keep up the good work.

    Excellent, Brother Kel.
I would only add that the writer of Hebrews also identified "the throne" explicitly with "the God" [the Father] later in the book (Hebrews 8:1; Hebrews 12:2). This seems like further evidence that the association of "the God" with "the throne" is likely referring specifically to God the Father in Hebrews 1:8.

Heb. 1:8 is better read as the Moffatt translation has it,
"But of the Son He says, “God is thy throne forever
and ever, the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom”.
    It makes better sense now.

There is no inconsistency when you take the literal definition of “Elohim” and “theos”: Mighty ones(s), ruler(s), judge(s). Context tells us which ruler is being spoken of.

"Therefore God, your God..." So if this applies to Jesus, as well as the ancient Davidic King from Psalms, this means Jesus has a God. Jesus is not "God" or "god" would have a "god." Trinitarianism is paganism, and deceptive idolatry. Idolaters will NOT inheirit the Kingdom.

      1) That isn't Trinity, but Trinitarians allow their ignorant acolytes to think so, as a first step of brainwashing and recruitment. You should know that as a Trinitarian. Trinity isn't counting those three in a verse. The Trinity doctrine is that those three are one god. And that verse Matthew 28;19 does not say that.
      2) While it states what you wrote, Trinitarians don't follow it when baptizing, thus disrespecting the one being baptized, God and Jesus and deceiving everyone. Instead of baptizing in the name of, they pretend to baptize in the three titles of.

AT the very end of the Bible its Jesus who does all the talking, in fact Jesus IS the WORD of GOD. so when GOD is speaking who might that be? interesting question. Jesus close out the bible by saying HE was dead.(the man) but alive for evermore!! he says I COME quickly. I am alpha and omega. Surely this would be blasphemy to say these things only reserved for GOD. But you see -jesus as GOD could say all these things. also on revelations ALL CREATURES worship the Lamb!! Only GOD can be worshipped. Jesus says HE makes the father KNOWN. so whatever Jesus says The Father is also saying. This is that intimacy that no one can comprehend!! Jesus has to be GOD an scripture shows this. open your heart. i dont follow my own beliefs , NO WAY. i follow what the scripture say . Jesus said to the pharasees , MOSES who you put your faith and trust in, is the very one who will ACCUSE you. CAUSE MOSES wrote about me!!! Again Jesus is also before MOSES.!! so where did Jesus come from?? MICAH says from EVERLASTING-yet born in bethlehem. GOD WITH US!! wake up some of you!!

Jesus as God could not say that he was dead. You say, surely calling yourself alpha and omega would be blasphemy, but you have not shown why. There are some things that God has in common with some men. For example, David could be called the king of Israel and God said he was the king of Israel, so it is not blasphemy to call yourself the king of Israel. Since Jesus is the only one who has been exalted the way he has been, you could expect him to have some pretty high titles. Revelation 4 shows the one sitting on the throne is the creator, and Jesus takes the book out of his hand in chapter 5 at least suggesting to an unbiased mind that Jesus is not the creator. Same applies to the gospel messages recorded in Acts. You can't just pretend these things aren't in the bible.

@@merry5059 In Jeremiah 33v16 it says "and Jerusalem shall dwell safely and this is the name wherewith she shall be called: The LORD our righteousness. You probably don't think Jerusalem is Yahweh, even though she is called Yahweh.
In a court case the prosecution and defence will both present evidence to support their case. The judge will then make a judgement as to which evidence is the strongest. This is what we must do with the scriptures. The idea is not to find evidence which supports a doctrine, but to weigh up the evidence on both sides and decide which we feel is strongest. The verse I gave in 1 Tim 2v5 is a pretty plain statement and is therefore strong evidence to my mind that Jesus is not God. Jesus says his God is our God, again, simple and plain. It is amazing how much of the bible talks as if God is a single person, and that Jesus is his son, the messiah. I would consider what people say in everyday life about Jesus as being very important evidence, such as the preaching and praying in Acts. I would consider what Pharisees say as unimportant because Jesus calls them liars, hypocrites etc.
As to Jesus being the everlasting Father, people who believe Jesus is the father use this verse to support their belief. I don't think Jesus is God the Father, but Jesus could be a father in the sense that Abraham is a father of the nation of Israel. Jesus says in John 10v35 If he called them gods to whom the word of God came...... So, some people are called god in the old testament, there is no reason why Jesus can't be called god without this meaning that he is God the creator. I would guess that people being called gods is because they are rulers of Israel, or something like that, possibly priests.
