Stab each yam slice three or four times with a fork and the sugar and spices will get real cozy in your yams.

I just made this and the flavor is spot on. Definitely not too sweet and the blend of spices was epic. I mixed all the dry ingredients in a large bowl to evenly incorporate the spices. I removed the sweet potatoes when done from the baking dish. There's a lot of liquid so I put the dish back in the oven to reduce and thicken the liquid. Soooo good. Great recipe especially since all the work is done in the oven. You rock bro.

Candy yams is always the first to go in our house, have to hide it sometimes, lol! Moving on to the next video 😋

I made these yesterday and they were bomb. I had only made them once before and the recipe didn’t layer it like that, it just melted everything in the butter and then you pour it over the yams. I preferred this method. One extra thing I added was pure maple syrup to the melted butter and vanilla extract. I also made your crockpot greens. Thank you! And someone give this man a cooking show on the food network ASAP.

My great grandmother recipe was she only used dark brown sugar, flour, cinnaman, nutmeg, vanilla but she cooked on top the stove in a pot.and layered with cooked yams, and when adding brown sugar she would sprinkle flour as well just
like you did and we never add water because cooking on low heat created water. We like our candied to be candied not syrupy. That's why we used flour on each layer like adding all the other ingredients by layer. They come out perfect everytime.

SN: Have you all ever thought about doing lower calorie dishes for people who still want to have the "soul food" experience?
