  • Crack Chicken Pierogi Casserole
2- 16 oz bags of thawed Cheese Pierogi - your favorite kind
2 - 15 oz jars of alfredo sauce
    3 cups cooked chicken chopped
    ¾ cup cooked chopped bacon
2 to 3 TBSP ranch dressing mix
1 ½ cups of shredded cheddar cheese
Start with a preheated oven of 375 degrees f. In a large bowl mix all of the ingredients together with half of the cheddar cheese. Mix well but use caution so you don’t break up the pierogi. Pour into a 9 X 13 inch oven proof cake pan and top with remaining cheese. Bake 35 to 40 minutes. Allow to cool for a few minutes before you serve.
    3 Ingredient Chocolate Pie
1 - 1 quart container of Cool Whip
    6 Herseys Chocolate Bars broken
    1 pre-made graham cracker crust.
Using 30 second intervals melt the chocolate in the microwave. If it gets to hot allow to cool a little but you still want it soft. Mix in the cool whip and pour into the crust. Cool 4 hours and serve.

For a cheaper alternative, my mom would make this pie with a box of chocolate pudding instead of the multiple big bars of chocolate. She also used dream whip. For those that don't know, it is a dry mix that you might find in the baking aisle

Hi Lisa, yes, a cheaper version could be made with chocolate pudding but it wouldn't taste like a Hershey bar. I couldn't believe the flavor. Cheers, Colleen

Hi Colleen, yum these recipes look good. I bet the extra salt is from the ranch dressing…..maybe. I make something like this using my canned chicken, Alfredo sauce, bacon but use pasta. I don’t find it at all salty. So I suspect it’s the ranch dressing. The pie looks good too. We live so far from a grocery store, I should really stock a few of these items to have on hand for quick meals. Thanks so much cheers 🇨🇦🌷

½ CHOCOLATE Bar. Make chocolate shavings with knife for top of pie. Size of bars Oz/gm would helps since everything is downsized these days with double the price. Cheese, sauce, bacon all have high sodium. Try non cured bacon if your store has it. Chicken perogies sounds good. 😊

    Thank you for your video.
I don't know what you paid for those 100 gram Chocolate bars but last month they went on sale at our local Dollar Store for fifty cents a bar and I only had about $35 and change in my pocket so I blew it all and ended up with over 15lbs of nice Milk Chocolate.
    The stuff freezes great BTW.
Well, that's interesting. I'd love to try that, BUT! The Old Folks are kinda fussy when it comes to new foods.
And poor Mum with her All-The-Timers, ... is getting fussier and fussier every day it seems. She's taken to pushing the meat around her plate and leaving a small pile of it when she's finished. Oh well, the dog doesn't mind that's for sure.
I still have to fight to serve Rice with a meal. (Bleeping) boiled to death Mashed Potatoes is all that is on demand. I try to mix that up with Baked Potato, Home Fries, and French Fries, ... and even then, .... I get tired of Potatoes all the time.
God help me if I try to serve Pasta more than twice a month. You'd think I was trying to kill the fussy eaters. And it doesn't seem to matter how GREAT the lasagna turns out either.
I've truly given up caring by times and that's sad eh?
You know, sometimes I'm just lazy, .. I've worked hard and deserve a break, and I'm totally fine with it, but "others" may not be. It sucks to be them.
    OK, enough whining!
My claim to fame is, I processed 60 pints of Bar Clams last week. I bought one crate at a time and it takes me two days to process the one crate and it almost wore me out. One day to shuck and clean the meat and the next day to Blanche, pack jars, add he blanch water and process in the canner.
I was so sore the first day I couldn't get to sleep. You know you're old when it hurts to roll over. True story.
I made a pot of Clam Chowder yesterday from these canned Clams as a "tester" and I'm quite pleased with the results.
Then I went out to the rhubarb patch and picked enough to make 12 pints of Rhubarb/Strawberry Jam with the frozen Berries from last year. Yum, yum.
I still have frozen Blueberries I have to make some Jam with too. More Yum, yums.
But the price of sugar! I found the wholesalers has 20kg bags for $37.07, .. hardly a great price but they have lots of sugar so I'm buying while I still can.
Hard to believe I used to pay $12.70 "on sale" for the same 20kg only a couple of years ago.
I can only advise to get it while you can because there will be shortages and it will become so expensive it becomes unobtainable.
I expect food to be rationed again in the near future too.
    I'm only getting another 200lb.
I watching a world in the middle of a Global Drought, ... that no one is talking about. It's under reported to the detriment of all. I guess the "Powers That Be" wouldn't want the people to get upset over the thought of a Global Famine. Three of the four Horsemen are here and we await the last Horseman called Death.
It ain't going to be pretty that's for sure.
Same with the Rice, 20kg for $41.18, ... I'm picking up another 200lb of that too. Stored properly and the stuff lasts for twenty years and I store it properly.
The price of dried Beans and Green Lentils has gone through the roof as well. A 10kg bag of either one will set me back $35, ... Damn the price, FULL PREP AHEAD!
Good luck Colleen, we'll all need some luck now.

    • @oursilvermoments6028
      @oursilvermoments6028  Год назад +1

Oh my goodness, you have been busy and from the sounds of it you deserve to take a break now and then. One of the things that I found out when I was volunteering in an assisted living facility was that as we age our eyesight, hearing and memory are not the only things to go. So do our tastebuds. Residents who were transitioning into assisted living had been using more and more salt at home in order to heighten the flavors of the foods they were familiar with but once they become residents salt is restricted.
It sounds like you are getting your food supply stocked up and I applaud that. We all need to do what we can to be more food secure.
      Take care, Colleen

    • @daval5563
      @daval5563 Год назад

@@oursilvermoments6028 Thank you, .. Mum is easy to cook for but complaints from the Old Man about the lack of salt in the food is tiring.
Meanwhile, he'll turn a slice of toast white with salt before smacking the lips.
When cooking, I use a minimum amount of salt in the veggies and none in the Potato until it gets mashed. I only use a half a tsp of salt in my canned pint products unless I'm adding a tsp of Onion Soup mix as a seasoning the I use none. There's lots of salt in the soup mix.
I really like my Carrots and Green Beans done this way with the soup mix, so I do them that way of course.
I've been making this dreamy "wish list" for months now, years really, and yesterday I filled it as best I could at the wholesalers.
I'm getting so good at this prepping thang, that the goal of 200 lb of Rice I just made was hit so fast, .. I'm still wondering what happened.
Local stores have 2lb of assorted Pasta's on sale for $1.50. There's another 20lb easy, and only $30.00. The Wholesaler wants $40.00.
AND! I put 32 chicken eggs into the incubator tonight, ... I must replenish the flock.
My 20 meat chicks are out on the porch in a cardboard "brooder" I made and this evening I switched the 60 watt bulb for a 100 watt because it's so cold out there tonight. Threw in a bunch of fluffy sawdust and shavings too.
God they grow fast. They will be in their own coop in five days I bet you. They are forecasting more cold for tomorrow too.
My last prep will be the Bulk Barn for their dehydrated veggie melody and their Mac and Cheese Sauce powder made with real cheese too. I stash that stuff away in pint mason jars with oxygen absorbers.
      I really like Cheesy Pasta.
Enough of my drivel, have a great one!
