    congratulations !
I bought my dreamlathe 1991 also from Steiner. It has some features in common with your lathe. 2 horsepowers, distance between centers, hight over bed. But no electronical device, just 3 mechanical speeds and a two-speed 3 phase motor. Last summer I had to chance the bearings for the first time. And I did get very good advice from Steiner as how to change the bearings, step by step. With Steiner you are truely in the best hands.

Hi 👋, Tomislav, That looks like a great machine, money well spent, I have a very old Wadkin RS8, with inverter drive, and Kontour 1500 SA ,
I wish you all the success for the future , And you soon be earning some extra pennies, or euros, or dollars, And look forward to seeing a new project being turned on it, stay safe, Phil from the moulin France .

Hi Tomislav, congratulations on getting your dream machine! We can see the excitement in your actions and hear it in your voice, very happy for you and looking forward to what you will create👍 I started turning when I retired 2 ½ years ago on an old 1954 Canadian 10” Beaver great little lathe. I saw a deal that I couldn’t pass up on an 1980 18” Canadian General sitting in a barn, I brought it home and cleaned it up, put new bearings in it and converted it to VFD my dream was fulfilled. Still learning and it is the most rewarding hobby for me. Take care, Wayne

"it ever happen to you that you're changing your shop layout a little bit and you came across stuff like this. and then you start to curse the one who made that job a lot harder than it should be, then you realise that was you actually."
sadly a story I am all too familiar with! enjoy the new lathe mate!

Well, never heard of this lathe, and never had a chance to play on one. One thing I like is the 3 speed ranges, rather than 2. The mid speed range goes high enough for smaller bowls, and slow enough to core with. With a 2 speed lathe, they tend to not like coring in the high speed range. I do prefer slower minimum speed, like 10 to 15 rpm. The reason for that is that I like once turned bowls from sloppy wet wood. I let them dry and warp, then sand them out. I need that very slow speed so I can power sand with the lathe spinning. Most of the lathes over here turn off at 50 to 100 rpm. I asked one tech about it and he told me that if I ran my lathe that slow I would fry the electronics and ruin my lathe. I told him that I had sanded out thousands of bowls at that speed and never had any problems. He again repeated his first statement. I did get an American Beauty from Robust, and got the same concerns from the owner. He walked me through the steps to get the speed down so I could sand my warped bowls. He cautioned me about the heat issue. I found out my lathe ran cooler when I was sanding than it did when I was turning. I do make my lathe work when I turn bowls. I am a big fan of the pivoting headstock with my Vicmark 240, and the sliding headstock on my AB. It allows me to slide the headstock down or pivot it so I can stand up straight to turn. People that turn on long bed lathes use some what different mechanics than those who turn on short bed lathes. It just works better for me.
One concern I have with the sliding headstocks is the pressure plate on the bottom of the headstock. My first sliding headstock lathe was a PM 3520A and it had a cast iron pressure plate which broke when coring some black locust. They replaced that with a steel plate that was about 4 by 6 inches, which is sufficient. My American Beauty has a plate that is the same size as the base of the headstock. Probably more than it needs. I saw one lathe, 24 inch diameter capacity that had the same plate on the headstock as there was on the banjo and tailstock. Not good. Hope you have a big plate on yours. Have fun with your new lathe!

Congratulations!!! a fantastic acquisition. Only available to professionals or those who have extra money😂😂. I don't want to say that the previous lathe is bad, far from it, but a killinger is another level....
Looking forward to seeing it work and watching you work on it and with it.

    Tomislav,
You are a blessed guy. What a beautiful lathe and this is a great video of it. I had a Stratos CO 230 lathe that I recently sold due to health problems. Really regret it now since I am much better.
This one seems like a step up from the Stratos and like you said, a dream lathe.
I am in the USA and I will be investigating availability here. I hope they have service here if they sell in the US. Although I did not have any problems with the Stratos, service became unavailable.
    Thanks for a great review.

Good on Steinart for the discount. Seems to be an excellent company. And thank you for sharing the unveiling and christening of what looks to be a workhorse of a machine. I think we all share your excitement. And I will tell you, my (1993) Vicmarc VL300 doesn't have registration marks! Of course, there's an easy workaround for this. And speaking of such, your new controller can almost certainly be adjusted for fast and slow stops. You still want slow for the big chunks to avoid them spinning off.
Merry Christmas from South Carolina US.

Hey, that is a real beauty! Congrats and I look forward to your upcoming turnings on your new dream machine. I like the rotating headstock, seems it would be handy sometimes. Stay safe T.

Good morning. Congratulations on your new lathe. I’m really happy for you. And in answer to your question about rearranging the shop and things happen, yes. It’s happened to me too. I have a Laguna midi lathe. I was very excited when it was delivered. I can relate to how happy you are. Your shop looks great. I hope you have a great day today. I’m heading to the local sawmill later this morning. I need some new wood to turn. Thinking about getting some African mahogany. Not sure yet. Enjoy your new lathe.

Lovely lathe, very pleased for you. I know it will be a feature for many videos to come. I have a much smaller Nova 1624 with rotating headstock and I do use that feature with the outrigger for larger platters etc.

I'm happy for you Tomislav. Christmas has come early. So can we expect some very large bowls in the near future?. I used to have a 750w lather but got frustrated a few times when I pushed it too hard. I now have a 1500w (2hp), That has the turning capacity and power to meet my needs. I'm sure it will be the lathe that lasts my life time
