    Now maybe I'll do one the same but from walnut😉
    Hope you'll enjoy

    That very thin upper edge of endgrain seems extremely delicate.

    Whenever I started turning, I went cut down a couple trees ( Sycamore and a gumtree ), and not knowing any better I cut all of the blanks for endgrain turning. I still have them drying in my shop with the endgrains sealed with greenwood sealer. I did a couple halfturn but still wet, they're probably ready now. I didn't know if I would be able to do anything with them, but after watching this video I'm inspired to give them a try.
    Thanks

    Amazing shape and delicate. I really like the detail on the foot. The end grain rim is almost unbelievable it is so thin. You really are a master of your craft. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. Dan

    I really enjoyed that one Tomislav! I’m going to try to replicate it. I felt that catch send a jolt of disappointment through me just as if I were doing the turning.

    Another superb piece, quite a delicate one too with a classic shape. I was holding my breath with that big scraper touching the bottom-working by touch. Greetings from Tasmania Australia 👍😁🇦🇺🦘

    It's a nice piece but I do not like thin especially on the rim being end grain as I have found it can break away if knocked or mis handled. Had me holding my breath up to the end of the bead turning.

    Lovely shape and a pleasure to watch. That Del Stubs DVD was one of the first videos I watched, so satisfying watching him turn. You sound much younger in this video, yet its only 10 months ago. Have you aged suddenly? :)

    Well done, Tom! Incredible detail. I consistently have to watch that exact same place in the inside for tear out or poor sanding on vessels and goblets. I wonder if it's more likely on end grain.
    Very well done project.

      Thank you Jay very much 🤗
      It would be more on cross grain, its easy to go against the grain and get tear out,on this piece it was more beacuse I didn't check with right angle of the light, when I film camera is in the path😅 need to get my self on of those magnetic lamps to get more light where I need.... When I don't film its ok as I can bring lamp where I need it....I saw on Instagram that you are at the lathe, I hope health is much better?

    At 11:50 you talked about not scraping side grain that way, unless I misunderstood you. I am fairly new to turning so I'm not too sure what or why you say that, could you please elaborate? I'm trying to pay really close attention to a few of you but I don't always understand. Thank You

    • @tomislavtomasicwoodturning
      @tomislavtomasicwoodturning  8 месяцев назад

      Aaa yes, this in video is endgrain bowl, and scraping side grain work like standard bowl orientation can lead to nasty catch if you present a tool like this ..
