The guy that got scared in the restaurant. You have to keep in mind that this was during the filming of the FIRST film. Which means that the world knew nothing of Freddy Krueger yet. That guy may have literally been the first person to ever get scared of Freddy.
He said he busted in and everything went flying. Some reason everyone forgets that he said that.
@@ordinarypete what are you on about
@@ordinarypete huh? are you okay? you're not having a stroke are you?
Lies again? New England
@Black & White haha that's so made up. Wes only wrote parts of the script in part 3 and didn't make another Freddy movie until New Nightmare. David Miller designed the original make up for part one and left to work on other projects after the first one became a success. Kevin Yahger took over the Freddy makeup for parts 2 & 3. Kevin had to create a different more simple design because he found David Millers original makeup too complicated since it was put on in layers. idk where you got the idea that burn victims protested the movie. Never heard of this before ever.
Robert Englund never curses in front of an audience. He's always polite asking if there are any children in the audience. He said funky music.
He's VERY respectful to the audience and he's a very respectable classy man.. he doesn't usually walk around cursing just cause. Not everyone sewers every 3rd word any way.
This man has been around for a very long time . he is a classicly trained actor.
He's just a nice classy dignified man. He's a rare breed.
Funky music are the lyrics... so what's your point?
@@AcesPlace22 that he asked if there are children watching for literally saying that
I remember kids cussing like sailors back in the day.
He tried to say Funky but he mispoke. He did curse on Conan.
Met him once. Super nice, incredibly articulate, and an amazing story teller.
Fun fact: Robert Englund had recently said at a convention that the New Nightmare Freddy was his favorite makeup and favorite movie of the series. It's my favorite design too. What a badass look. The long coat, ripped flesh, bone hand, muscular body, small pupils, and rotting smile. It's a look I wished we'd see in future movies.
i love how even the hat is green. he almost looks like a 90's comicbook design for freddy.. even more than super freddy did.
that was my fav freddy look, i loved that bone to flesh and blades hand, and that black trench coat
This Halloween I decided to watch New nightmare again because, unlike the previous elm street movies, I hadn't seen it in a long time. I fell asleep not too long after watching it and I had a nightmare with Freddy in it!! Now Freddy horrified me as a child but of course as I got older I stopped being frightened. So it surprised me to have a dream like that😂😂😂New nightmare was so scary, Wes Craven directed the two scariest films out of the series!! I hate that Robert can't play Freddy anymore and I hate that Wes is gone!!
I loved new nightmare, loved the make up. It was perfect.
The funny thing about Robert is that he's a major talker. He talks, and talks, and talks, talks...and the more he talks, the more animated he becomes, and at some point in his chatter, he's GOING to naturally do something Freddy-esque with either his voice or facial expression.
This is so true! Freddy comes out in certain moments
He's a Gemini. They're great communicators. And also the #1 star sign of the most actors, and the most serial killers.
@@sarkissamuel Omg! I was literally about to say that! Great minds think alike. I'm a huge fan of Robert Englund and imagine me delight when I learned that he's a Gemini when I was a kid. My fiance and I are Gemini as well, and we talk a lot and we love doing impressions. 😆 ♊️
Had a photo with him at a comic-con. He put the glove over my face for the pic. Scared the crap outta me, and made my lifelong dream a reality. True gent of my nightmares 🤣🤣
I did hear a funny story once about Robert where he fell asleep with his Freddy make up on and he woke up and looked in the mirror and it scared the hell out of him lol Also his real voice and his evil person dont match up haha.
It was actually stated that he is one of the nicest people there is even donating to charities and his character doesn’t match him lol
@@SpeedyWings2323 Also the other thing is that he's like a classically trained actor.
He said in a interview that they lower and double his voice in editing for it to sound like that
@@richardhunt6310 makes sense to make him sound more demonic
“PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC, *WHITE BOY!*” lmao he’s great, love em
New Nightmare is underrated. It did the whole meta horror thing a few years before Scream.
I saw Robert on Broadway walking in front of my building. I looked @ him he was looking back & I simply gave him a thumbs up. He smiled & put up his thumb hello. Very cool.
Freddy is the coolest of all the movie killers his character is timeless 😀
Krueger is a killer with style.
Mick Taylor wants a word.
He won that fight
@@jerramaurice7836facts, that’s true.
Freddy Krueger definitely freaked me out when I was young! Thanks for sharing this interview with Robert England Team Coco ❤🖤
I love Robert Englund.. Such an awesome down to earth guy! 😃
Met him a couple times. Such a great man
When Freddy says "Play the music" , you play the f ing Music...
I still remember him as Willie - the nice & soft spoken alien on the early 80’s tv series “V”. Then he did a complete 180 & played Freddy Kreuger. What a contrast in characters. Haha.
There will never be another Freddy and this era of Conan was still a bit underground and never reached these heights again . Max you are sorely missed man.
The caption guy getting it wrong at 3:32: it's "funky" lol
His normal voice sounds nothing like I thought it would. Way softer and nicer.
Like he’s actually a person. Weird.
He sounds fruity af xD
It’s cuz they masked his real voice with a demonic like tone
@@predtr18 Lmao he does a bit, doesn't he?
@@AllisonChains64 His mannerisms as well.
Not gonna lie, Conan with the less famous actors is fantastic. Where else do you get to interview horror film actors? That's fantastic.
Robert Englund goes everywhere as Freddy Krueger
Except for this interview...so not "everywhere".
@@RuggsvilleCounty You missed the joke, lol.
Love Freddy's laugh , perfect.
2:18 "He probably just got off the boat" (audience reaction)
I love Robert Englund. I met him a few years back. He’s honestly one of the nicest people I’ve met.
*edited bc autocorrect changed Englund to England.
Reallly?
I’m just waiting for some stupid person to absolutely disagree with you in disbelief as if it ever happened. For no reason people always have to feel like everything everyone says is a lie
@@MrJonathanhidalgo365 yes. I met him and his wife at a horror movie convention. They were the sweetest couple. He doesn’t rush his fans. He has a genuine conversation with them. He even drew a picture of Freddy on a painting I brought that I did of Freddy from New Nightmare.
@@Dizzydawne same. Ppl can be ridiculous.
Same I met him on Sept 26 of this year! He was so sweet! I got a autograph and a photo op
It's hard to believe that this is Freddy, he's so nice and polite. That just shows how good an actor he
Freddy Kruger the best scary character of all time
One of my favorite Robert Englund's roles was in the original MacGyver tv show. He was one of the most believable characters I've ever seen in that show. Peace and love y'all 🤟
I loved his friendly alien character in the V TV-show back in the early-mid '80s just before he went on to do the first Nightmare movie
Thank you for telling me that. Now I can check it out ❤️
@@shruggzdastr8-facedclown Yes, that's what I remember him most from
Robert as Freddy is a LEGEND!! Gave me nightmares like no other growing up, nothing could match the terror.
The terror? Its hilarious
Nothing worse than thinking you've woke up just to find yourself in another nightmare! They definitely covered it all in the series.
Robert played a great part with Al Bundy!!!!!!!! His best role ever!!!!!
I love Robert England I saw his name and clicked on right away....I love him Freddy but I love him more as Willy🥰🥰
First character I think of when it comes to Mr. Englund, is Willy!!!!
I love Robetr engnd l saW his name and clicкed on right away .... I love him Freddy but l love him. more as will 🎬🎥. 🥰🥰❤️💕
@@user-nw5tm9kh9w I'm not sure what you're doing but if you need attention that's not gonna get you much other than from me. That really wasn't clever or funny. Try to be better next time
Willy? 🤔
@@winkmurder an alien he played in a sci-if show called V
did he really say “probably just got off the boat?” lol
Before cancel culture would crucify a person for any little thing they said.
Yes, but this was back when you could still make innocuous jokes without leftist mobs torching your career.
it's the 90's, nobody cared.....
This was ten years after the original " A Nightmare on Elm Street" was released in theaters.
Yes. It was for the tie in with Wes Craven's New Nightmare.
The ONLY Freddy Kruger.
3:32 such a great moment to share with fans, hes just so soft spoken you have to turn your volume all the way up to hear it.
As someone that works in a restraunt, I would literally cry.
Robert you are super cute and so down to earth they don't make people like you anymore or like Conan wishing you guys all the best in life may God bless both of you and your families
I believe Conan misunderstood what Robert screamed out there 😄
How?
It was certainly scary for the censors
He said play that funky music white boy like the song but Conan thought he said the f word. Conan should’ve known better.
@@MayaState We're going to go and edit that part out of the show.
I replayed that portion two dozen times. I watched his face muscles very carefully. He pronounced it *funk-ing* but the n was very, very softly. So, yes he did make an effort to scare the censors. But the fact it's on here unedited suggests it passed....barely.
Met him once. Nice guy.
you scared me alright… i thought he died.. then i remembered it’s Halloween
I would absolutely love to meet Robert Englund. He is just so fascinating and hilarious.
Its okay, thankfully he's still with us
"It's how I get the cheese balls (using the Freddy hand/finger knives)." 🤣🤣
OG Freddy.. Love it.. One of the best modern era horror actors.
I think I know why Freddy never sleeps ❄️
I love his since of humor
The man that made it SCARY to fall asleep......
He did say funky.
I was at a restaurant called El Coyote in L.A. in fall of 1988. M Godfather and I were sitting in the lobby waiting for our table to be ready. I saw Robert Englund at the bar having a drink with a female. I recognized him immediately, not just because of Freddy Krueger, but because he played Willie in the tv miniseries “V.” I wanted to get his autograph but I was a little star struck. All it took for me to get it, was for my Godfather to ask me if I was chicken. I’d just graduated from college that summer. I’d just started teaching second grade. So the only piece of paper that I had with me that day was a brochure for my Tax Shelter Annuity (TSA) which I’d just signed up for. That’s what I handed him to sign. It reads : To Eileen, “Sweet Dreams, Freddy” Robert Englund. He was very sweet, polite, and soft spoken. 🙂
Conan is the best to ever do it.
I hope Robert England plays Freddy in the next movie
Such a class actor.
The crowd is really dead on this one.
Classic Freddy
Sad the guys a legend
2:44 I had no idea “trolling” people was already a word back then
maybe this was the beginning.
Maybe. Would have also been used back then in the context of trolling for women at the bar so I'm not sure which meaning he meant.
what the hell. I had a good comment yesterday, and now it's gone.
well it was a really interesting article from about ten years ago talking about the origin of the term in 90's internet culture and how it does in fact stem from the fishing term trolling/trawling.
Not everything originated from Generation Z sheesh
He kinda reminds me a little bit of Quentin Tarintino the way he talks
My god -Conan without his signature hair - he looks so much like a dork of the 80's
Love both of these guys
The legend. Salute.
I didn't know he could be funny.love how proper he seems to be.
Hes a legitimate actooooor, and just the absolute sweetest ever. Love robert, hes such a genuienly lovely guy
Robert is very charismatic and funny. He really brought Freddy to life!!!
Freddy lives!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 The next time Robert Englund come to Steel City Comic Con I'm going just to hear stories at the Q and A panel
I still think of him as the bartender from V.
Mousy…
discovering this clip was really funny cause my dad told me recently that something similar to the restaurant thing happened to him
my dad REALLY likes the nightmare on elm street franchise (one of the few slashers he considers himself a fan of) and he cosplayed freddy in 2003 and had like, everything except the makeup. he also went into a restaurant and got sent out because of the glove LOL
I saw a video years ago of a person telling Robert Englund that Englund gave him real nightmares as Freddie.
His response was "Thank you"
Can anyone else can remember that video or is that some Mandela Effect stuff?
He looks little bit like Ryan Stiles on this video.
Johnny Depp and Freddy Krueger walk into a restaurant. Sounds about right haha. 80s were awesome n wish I got to experience them.
All I can think of is he was one of my favorite characters on V.. Good old Willy ❤️
At least the restaurant didn't have to supply KNIVES !
The dish washers thank him for that !!
Robert is a legend. Would love 2 meet him one day ! xx
With all the new technology Im positive they can come out with a new Nightmare on Elm St. for this generation that would do AMAZING!
That would be cool if they had Freddie out after dark just scaring the hell out these kids nowadays LIVE.
They already did. 10ish years ago.
@@Atomic_Johnny tried, they tried...
Pure class!
"Just"... "Just?" Yeah, Robert, we remember "Willie" from "V: The miniseries!"
The King of the slashers! Freddy!
I would like to go Dress as Michael Myers to a fancy restaurant
Awesome video
happy 75th birthday robert barton englund !!!
My man💚
Hey look it’s Freddy Krueger dressed as Robert Englund.
Where the rest of the interview? Don't leave us hanging Team Coco
I remember seeing who the actor was behind Fred Krueger in a newspaper photo and was pleasantly surprised how personable he looked. Later I recognised him from his previous work.
I never realized how much Conan’s head had grown lol
LMFAO!
Metal legend comic con 20o7! He a great guy to talk to a legend!!!!
This video better get more than a million views
3:30 Robert suddenly turns into a crackhead
That is an absolutely fantastic amount of b. s. for such an unbelievably well known character.
this was aired after wes craven's new nightmare because he film came out on october 14, 1994 and this episode was aired on halloween 2 weeks later
I ADORE READING
He said "FUNKING". Robert Englund is GOD.
He was a guest star on knight Rider
I love robert
I wish he was my family
Number one cooool dude
Legend ✌️🤘😎🇨🇦
Robert as Freddy was my child hood I grew up in the 80's and 90's I still remember the first time i watched nightmare on elm street it was playing on TV and my dad was watching it I was supposed to asleep but I wanted a drink and I caught it on TV and I was hooked my dad caught me and just looked at me watching the movie and chuckled and picked me up and sat on the couch with me and watched it until I was sleeping and he cared me to my bed and I never had a nightmare
The best
Awesome
3:32 😱
He seems so sweet!
He seems like a nice guy.
He's very very nice
He's very sweet. I met him on Sept 26th of this year. He was so kind! I got an autograph and a photo op. He said Sweet dreams to me after we were just leaving. Which was really sweet!
can we get full length classic shows in this channel i think NBC or who ever owned those episodes should give it to conan i only know englund from the freddy movies, and no one can do freddy better than him, but when i do see him guest star in a show, or is in a movie, it does put a smile on my face.
Freddie gave me such nightmares, weird to say, but I really enjoy a scary dream, and Freddie was part of a lot of them as a kid. Still love the Nightmare On Elm St movie and following sequels
Five Guys at Freddy's.
I'll get my coat..
