Etsy and Patreon links are in the channel about section, but fair warning, this got a little more attention than I expected. The printers are running 24 hours a day but I can't keep anything in stock for long. The heat will die down soon. I appreciate your interest in trying these out and for those who do, I sincerely hope they serve you well.
This man, possibly has one of the calmest voices on RUclips. Keep up the good work 👍. In a sea of crazy content, you’re a small island of calm and reason.
Been using this for about a month. Elegant and efficient! Would love a modern version with a sloped bottom and an airlift that can adapt to a hang on side fry box so we dont have to reach in the tank and manually remove the catcher! Love your work, you've helped me thoroughly enjoy the hobby and take much of the "work" out so I have much more time to relish the fun!
I just printed your fry tray and this idea being mentioned gets me pumped! I’m trying to breed Ember Tetras but as you said the tank with mesh at the bottom has a lot limitations and varied success.
Great work, and video as always. I and plenty others based on the comments, patiently await the evolution into the airlift model that fully integrates with your awesome fry tray.
This is awesome! Brilliant design, as always. 👏🏻👏🏻😀 I will bring an extra jug of paramecium to our meeting tomorrow in case you need one. Impressive number of eggs-wow! 🙌
Very nice design! I just joined the Patreon a few days ago and was looking for a solution for this as I’m about to try egg scatterers for the first time. Perfect timing 🙂
Looks great mate . Have you thought about adding some sort of lift tube so the eggs can go straight from the spawn box to the hatch box so you do have check the box or both your had in the tank as much
I can't wait for your next iteration of this that you have in the works! I would prefer a design that uses an air lift or similar design so I don't have to routinely take this out of the tank to empty, instead being able to turn the air on/off depending on whether I'm focusing on breeding or not.
Awesome design. Well done. I'd be interested in purchasing this, or if they are not available, the print file would definitely be handy to print some myself!
Number one design crazy man all of urs breeding project is the best the way u shoot n discrib I'm fan of urs n definitely I make this thanks for helping..❤
Here's hoping, I grabbed one of the fry trays from her recently. He'll eventually do an egg collecting device that air lifts directly into the fry tray for sure.
I think I need this for mine. The vacuum bubbler egg trap style seems to be failing me. But my random potted plants and transferring them to another tank have gave me a few fry.
another great video I love your channels quality and the beauty of trying new things that's not recommended but still works. I was wondering if you would like to try these fish since I'm interested in them and i think you might be to; halfbeaks, goodeids, tiger barbs, cichlids (mbunas or peacocks), more rainbow fish! I love watching your videos as they're the best guide and explanation of fish breeding
Hi Lowell! I love your videos. Keep up the fantastic content. I was wondering if you could tell us what your water parameters actually are. Such as gh, kh, and ph. Just curious to know what parameters are helping yoy have auxh great success. Thanks so much!
Well, I don't have an answer you will love. My parameters change seasonally throughout the year and can go from very soft to fairly hard. Generally speaking I would say 3 degrees of kh and gh, about 7.8-7.9 pH. But I personally doubt my (and anyone's, if I'm being honest), ability to measure water parameters accurately. The most honest I answer I can give you is a shrug. Idk. It's water. That's half because I don't feel confident that I know, and half because I don't think it matters very much. When it does matter, I use RODI.
2.5 or 5 gallon bucket - cut out the bottom and replace with mesh. put bucket inside another tank, slightly elevated. put fish in bucket. put moss in bucket. feed fish. wait.
I've used one of those and that was my first thought too. Until I saw the number of eggs he collected. The majority of the eggs sat at the bottom of the collection and the air lift wasn't strong enough to pull them all up.
what program do you use to make your designs? I want to learn how to make more detailed designs but I can only do simple ones using tinker cad at the moment.
It might. I'm not sure how much hillstream loaches position themselves directly above rocks or if they rely on current to carry and trap them in rocks downstream. It's always worth a try
I prefer to say that fish breed the first chance they get and they typically don't breed in the dark. But even that only describes a certain subset of species.
Great, now I have to rest up so I can go wrestle with my printer. Is this how you plan on making your millions by breeding billions of CPD's? And just curious, I wonder what would be more efficient, the Lowell egg trap or those egg collection thingies?
@@MakeMoreFish Could you make an up lift on your design? DAKU made one I just saw this morning, but his design is round and I like an square egg trap a little better
Not really, they're more of a mop spawner so their eggs would stick to the vegetation and not fall down. A traditional spawning mop works great for them.
There are links in the youtube channel about section but fair warning, the shop has been absolutely ransacked. I can't keep anything in stock right now. It should calm down soon.
Hey man I joined up yesterday to download your awesome fish box, me and my daughter are currently breeding platys. Do you have something to put in the community tank the live fry can hide in? Or do I just put the platy alone in the breeding box?
So live-bearers are not my area of expertise and I never testing the fry trays as a birthing enclosure. It may work but the female might also just jump out. I think I would set up some kind of cage in a more comfortable setting and retrieve the fry later to raise up in a tray. Either way is worth a try.
@@MakeMoreFish I have a live bearer tank and then a few larger cichlid tanks. I am raising a little bit of both as we speak lol. I just finished printing the first box, it’s in the tank and performing great. Nice work on the design I was fixing to do it myself and I found yours! The main body was 19hrs on the carbon x1 I slowed it a touch. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Lowell! Have you tried splitting lights into two photo periods in a day for Ram fry? For example, a 3 hour photo period in the morning, feeding at about hour one prior to heading off to work, and the second photo period starting when arriving home from work, allowing a few more "daylight" feedings during that time as well, to avoid the wasted calories midday hunting for food? I'm trying to figure out what the best feeding / photo period is for me as I work an 8 hour shift about half an hour away from home, and I'd love to succeed with ram as best as I can!
I'm thinking... Yes? At least once. It has to be really dark to put them to sleep though. Usually there is enough ambient light for them to recognize day time as day time

Just bought myself one as well as a fry tray. You’re killing it my man keep it up! We the people need a fish room tour!
Simply the greatest fish videos by far. Also what camera and lens do you use to record?
P.S. if I ever get a 3d printer its because of you :)
A canon M50 Mk2 and the vast majority are shot with canon's macro lens for the EM-F mount

I have. Automatic collectors are very cool.
Approximately two-hundred-and-twenty-seven fry, not including the few still curled in eggs.
Was just getting back into CPD breeding - perhaps I should find a friend who would print me this to give it a shot!
Looking great Lowell's thanks for sharing 😊
Lowell's Fish Lab, great content keep it up dude

Just found this and have to say I am impressed by your. Keep up the good work.

is the small drain small enough to keep the eggs in?
I haven't found it to interact with the eggs at all. They don't flush out or anything.

There are 3d printed ones that connect to air and pull the eggs in to a hang on back nursery.
Yes there are. Very cool

Have you tried incubating some eggs out of the water? Does it work with other species?
I personally have only tried with Corydoras but my assumption is that it would work for many species. I can't think of why it wouldn't.
