  • Today we're discussing Nintendo's recent announcement that they will be shutting down the eShop for Wii U and 3DS consoles in March 2023. While that's still a ways off, they're also shutting down the ability to add funds to your account to purchase eShop items May 23, 2022! Meaning that if there's any 3DS digital content you want (DLC, games, etc) you better get them ASAP or at the very least, ensure you have the proper funds on your account. We're also touching on what this means exactly for the three 3DS Fire Emblem games, Fire Emblem Awakening, Fire Emblem Fates, and Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. What DLC did they offer that players will no longer have access to? Let's take a look. Thanks for watching.

So the May 23 date you mentioned in the video is the cut off for adding funds to a 3DS or Wii U account via a credit card, but there is a end of August date that is the cut off for adding to your 3DS and Wii U balance via Eshop cards.
Also if you migrate your 3DS/Wii U account to a joint Nintendo account with switch, funds you add in any way via the switch are redeemable in the 3DS and Wii U EShops’ which would give you the full time until March next year to make purchases.

Thank you for sharing this. The eshop cards thing seems rather inconvenient, though I guess if someone was desperate at least they could still do it.
Either way, though, the clock is ticking and people really shouldn't put it off because we're gonna forget and before we know it it'll be March 2023...

Nintendo sued them into the ground completely justifyibly might I add and that's that. They didn't take down Vimm, they didn't take down DigitalRomance, they only took down LoveROMs/ROMsUniverse. Then, Emuparadise also took themselves down BY THEIR OWN CHOICE out of fear that Nintendo would take them down too. Nintendo never shut down Emuparadise and never planned to. And about the fan games it was only a handful of them and nearly all were justified. AM2R would directly compete with Nintendo's own Metroid 2 remake so Nintendo DMCA AM2R and then recruited the creator to work on Metroid Dread. And for Pokemon Uranium that game had in-game ads for the creators Patreon which used Pokemon branding and since they were indirectly profiting off Nintendo's IPs they DMCA the game. Mario Battle Royale would compete with Mario 35, so Nintendo shut it down as well. Nintendo only shuts down things that directly compete with their business or make money off their brand. They even actively know about the Mother 3 fan translation but don't take it down since they have no plans to localize the game due to "modern cultural sensitivities."

We all know piracy isn't healthy for the industry, but Nintendo is trying really hard to reinforce the idea that's the only convenient way to experience their games.
Apparently being able to play a game that's going to be merely 6 years old is too much to ask. It's not just anti consumer, it's incompetent. On PC they could be preserved for eternity, games that are over 20 years old are easily accessible.

Piracy deals no damage at all to the industry. With the only exception of newly released movies in cinemas, piracy has no effect on any of the markets. No matter if games, music or books.
So no. Piracy is healthy to the industry. Pirate to your hearts content. It does not make a difference.

I got into Fire Emblem less than a year ago and without emulating it would be impossible to play most entries. Nintendo doesn't sell them in the online store or at least in some bundle. You have to go so far out of your way to experience older games that emulation is the only reasonable option.

Nintendo of Japan is usually creating the mass of the problems over the other branches. If you've done business with Japanese Companies directly or in any capacity, they often disregard what foreigners tell them, and only follow what company leadership sees to be best over most of anything else. They could migrate all the content up to 3DS to the Switch. But current leadership doesn't want to listen to all the rest of the world, and stick to what only the Domestic crowd tells them. People are more than willing to aid in migrating all of that content with emulation software. I think that needs to be more expressly stated in videos like these so people don't panic buy everything in sight in just a couple of months when you really have a whole year to go; (assuming nothing is removed from the shops prematurely like as with the metal gear solid games).

Intelligents Systems had an idea for Fate to have three stories to appeal to everyone, but they realized that they didn't have enough writers. So they hired an outside writer, Shin Kibayashi was that writer. Nintendo wanted Shin to write the outline for each pathway, what happened instead is that Shin wrote 500 pages for each pathway. Nintendo knew this was too long so they cut the story into pieces without the writers permission and the fact the Nintendo demanded Fates come on the Fire Emblem Anniversary only made things worse. Which resulted in this hilariously mess of a story. The good news this that there is a manga based on Fates that is a little better. Its called Fire Emblem If: the Crown of Niberlung.

Now yes I know ports takes a long time and I know no one is begging for a port right now(well at least for Fates), but it’s still sad knowing some who are new to this series might not be able to experience every fun thing in these older games due to the shop not working anymore.

Keep in mind that the FE 3DS games are all system locked or completely built around the 3DS in mind. FE14 is dug in the deepest of the most and it was meant to utilize the net and streetpass the most out of the others. So, unless Nintendo makes another system that utilizes those functions, there is no way we are getting a port of that game to another system any moment soon. FE13 and FE15, I could see some mods to that code for what they are. Other than that, about every other FE game from 1-10 can be easily ported to other systems. 11-15 are all system locked to anything that can support Dual Screens. Wii U was crude, but gave us more or less an idea of how much work we got ahead of us to assure that these games operate elsewhere.

Bro I tired buying it at the E shop since I lost my old awakening chip that I bought day 1, but there’s STILL selling it for FULL price. Not to mention all the DLC which is probably $80 or more. Been trying to buy it for over 2 years but I might have to buy it at full price at this point

Also, I was doing a little bit of research but if you want every character in Fire Emblem Echoes Minvera was an exclusive DLC for Japan only.
From what I read you needed a code from the card game Fire Emblem Cipher so good luck if you guys want every possible DLC I'm actually surprised not a lot of people talked about this I was only able to find one video on her ruclips.net/video/4eH7CjsfpCk/видео.html

Short correction: Minerva is completely unavailable in Echoes. What you described is the case for Fates. Just wanted to clear that up for everyone reading this.

The one DLC content I am looking forward to are the Fates festival ones, and they don't sell it here anyways
This is also the same company that makes the Switch port of FE1 limited and not market their franchise after Kaga left

Just the way Nintendo treats IPs that aint Mario, DK, and Zelda is just very telling of them and segments of the crowd that have to throw a hissy fit each time anything else other than those 3 do come up on a Direct announcement video.

@@winterwolflg4579 you can search on the wiki about how spotpass works basically is a menu on the world map of the game where you can download maps as paralogues so when you complete them you will unlock characters like aversa or grangel and they will join your army there are weapons too which you can claim there I don't think you'll have a problem finding that (press X is on the same place where you save your game on the map) but you can see other vids so they can tell exactly where it is. is on the menu when you enter the game and you see the map of the world so when you enter that menu a message will say if you want to active spotpass say yes and then start claiming those rewards and thats it you would have that on your game as free dlc. I don't know if that would continue to work probably yes but its better to have that already in your game.I hope this works

I'm just trying to get important stuff, like extra classes I don't care about too much, but if they add characters, more unique dialogue, or more story, that's about it, lore important stuff. I already have most of Fates DLC, just missing map pack 1 (which I must have bought some maps from already because it's cheeper to just get the rest of the DLC) museum melee, Royal Royale, Vangaurd Dawn, Balistician, Blitz, and Witch's trial. Awakening challenge pack, rogues and redeemers pack, lost bloodlines pack, champions pack, and all the content that would be in those packs (don't know why in Fates and Echoes they don't tell you what's in the packs, Awakening did). Echoes... all of it, like I didn't even have the free stuff downloaded lol. I wasn't paying for another game's worth especially since 1/2 of it seemed irrelevant, wait till I get a job and college isn't a hurdle... been what 4 years? I should be able to get some but would still like to save money when possible. Echoes will be the biggest outlier of the 3 games, Awakening no sure if those are important but they are cheep, Fates I think I'm done and don't need the rest of that, Echoes I still don't know what's important or not.
Also what about Fire Emblem... the Hyrule Warriors... Fire Emblem Warriors right that's it, didn't it have DLC? Is it on the Switch? Did it have a complete collection of all the DLC in 1 game like Hyrule Warriors did for the 3ds version I think?

I got a 3DS last year and picked up a bunch of games for it. Fire Emblem is a franchise I wanted to play but the dlc is not available to purchase until you get to a certain chapter in the story. Far too late for me I suppose. Hopefully the switch entries are a good starting point for a new comer.

I bought some of the DLC packs for Awakening back when I first played it. I got EXPonential growth because I wanted to grind (though I think it gets inefficient after a point?) and I got Hot Spring Scramble because I liked the character interactions and the yukata artwork. I think I’d like to get the Future Past DLC chapters, though they look pretty hard. So maybe I should get some of the other maps too?
I haven’t played Revelations before so I should probably get my hands on that too. Hidden Truths looks interesting in how it adds to the story. And might as well get Beach Brawl for Xander in a swimsuit. I’m still bummed that the Halloween and Children’s Day festival DLCs never made it to the west…
I don’t think I need any of the Shadows of Valentia DLC. But still, wow. I feel like this will add up to a lot.

My Switch broke literally the other day so I bought all the content for Fates I didn't own already. Have yet to touch most of the DLCs (I feel like they are best left for after Revelation) but the EXP grinding one is really nice for Conquest, at least for a noob like me that can get softlocked easily in this kind of game. Planning on getting a few of the Awakening ones too, I don't care as much about Echoes as I have yet to play it and it's cheaper physical than on the store right now

Please help me. I’m about to buy Fire emblem fates thru eshop. So, in order to have AAAALLL bonuses, map packs and revelations, what title should I buy first: birthright or conquest? What I understood so far is that I have to buy birthright first, for example, and once I start the game, I select the paths. I’m confused. Please tell me the guideline. Note: I have to say that I’m not going to play the game right now. What I’m doing now is buying games, completing my library with all DLC before March 2023. My best regards! Thanks in advance

Finally got to play all 3 of the Fire Emblem Fates series of games and I absolutely loved them. I’ve played all the 3DS era and Switch era FE but I honestly enjoyed Fates the most which I’m aware is a super controversial opinion. Are the Fates games perfect? No. Not at all. But I’ve never had this much fun in a videogame until I decided to pick up these games.
