Haven’t ridden Tiana’s Bayou. In no hurry either. I haven’t watched the movie either, let alone know a single lyric to any of the songs. With that said, I’ve also never watched Song of the South. However, ZipADeeDooDah was a huge staple in the theme park. You can hear it in the older rendition of the esplanade music, in parades and the ride itself. Just in the song alone was known through generations and every Disneyland goer. Not saying I wouldn’t give the ride a chance, it’s the same ride. The ride now doesn’t have the same emotional connection that I’ve had with my family. For those happy to have it, glad you like it. Not feeling it.

Ok I’ll put it like this, I think they did a great job with the animatronics (even though they’re already malfunctioning) and the special effects but that’s it. The theme and music in my opinion doesn’t fit the track itself very well. If they would’ve just built Tiana a whole brand new dark ride then it would’ve fit a whole lot better. One of the best things about Splash Mountain was the music, it went so well with each section of the ride. Welcoming riders with happy music like “How do you do”, then changing the tune to something more dark and serious once getting to the vultures and the final drop, then finishing with happy music again like “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Da”. I feel like Tiana’s garbage just had happy joyous music throughout the entire ride. At least Splash Mountain took riders literally through a ride of emotions. Just my opinion, they dropped the ball with this trash
@ which is mind blowing in itself isn’t it? Splash Mountain was hands down one of the most popular rides at the park, hell it brought more attention to that section of the park. Doesn’t make any sense to change a popular ride. If it works why fix it?
I got to ride it at magic kingdom and I really liked it. For everyone getting upset about this new updated version need to relax and enjoy the ride. It’s not that serious guys.
I loved Splash Mountain, but like, this isn’t terrible at all. People were acting like there were big chunks of unfinished areas, but the dark and tableau elements are all the same. Also, point of note: this is not a “Classic” ride in the sense that it’s from the first two decades. It went up in 1984; long after Walt had died.
"Classic" refers to specific examples of a given medium that will be held in high regard for a long time to come. While some classic attractions are indeed older, there are still examples of newer attractions that can be held in that same regard (Splash Mountain being of particular note because of how its design heavily influenced other thrill rides going forward). TBA is not a modern Pirates or Haunted Mansion tier attraction; it joins the likes of Stitch's Great Escape and Rocket Rods in terms of poorly recycling their (much better) predecessors.
Honestly if you truly compare them ( not being biased based off of personal opinion) Tiana’s has a lot more going on in places that previously had nothing. The negative of Tiana’s is definitely not having it follow the movies story and having a sense of peril at the drop with Dr facilier. Overall I’d give it a 7/10. The ending show scene definitely gives it a higher score than a 6 for me
Oh wow! Haven't ridden it in person yet but Tiana's is clearly a worthy upgrade! So much more to see, so much more color and motion. I know a lot of people upset by the update, yeah well I'm still sour about ToT. But TBA is beautiful and I think it's a huge improvement over SM.
I love the retheme. Princess and the Frog is one of the best Disney films, Much deserving of an attraction in the parks. My only wish is that they add some story to the queue audio explaining about the party and Tiana’s need for a band. The subtle mention by Tiana during the lift hill isn’t enough to explain the ride.
@@dogg-paws The animatronics are so much more advanced so it’s understandable that there are less due to budget restrictions but they are used effectively. Frozen ride at EPCOT is very similar in design as Tiana’s with limited animatronics and a very similar story, and people love the Frozen ride.

that's a cool side by side comparison. I recently went on the Tiana's ride and got the front seat. Its been many years since I've rode Splash mountain, so most of it I do not remember. thanks for sharing.
I think the reason they didn't follow the movie was to tie the food theme into the restaurant in New Orleans square. That's ok but wish we got to see her as a princess. For those that didn't get the issue with Splash, watch the movie Song of the South. Also it's funny the drops had less water running but once the log hit, much more water splashes now it seems, the camera got wet every time with Tiana lol.
Tiana starts waaaaay stronger! Slight edge to Splash once you get inside after the 1st drop. After the 2nd drop I just like Splash more, it gives more emotional scope. But I do enjoy what Tiana did there. From the final drop on I have to give it to Splash though. Tiana has more life there, but splash had the better song. The very ending is a wash, I like the frogs with the city landscape, but prefer brear rabbit at the very very end lol
For me. It depends on its lore and its lighting and music. not its landscape nor its outside, tianas also used music from the movie, so I like splasher better. But you do you, im not complaining!
Tiana's starts and ends well, but completely collapses in the middle because it has no real story holding the thrills up. Instead of the thrills complementing and accentuating the story, they clash with it.
The only thing i like is the small splash after the logs pass by the first drop but otherwise it's WDWs Tiana on a smaller scale. Same Animatronics and all, i don't like how there's less animatronics than befoe, and most of them have 1-3 movements compared ti the larger cast of Spalsh

I am not the type of person that is necessarily off-put by "change" in general, like is so often the case, so I do know why they needed to update the ride based on an old 1946 cartoon (it was a different time!). It is strange however that they decided to retrofit this ride as late as 2024 to be based on a movie released 15 years prior and largely considered to be somewhat middle of the pack for Disney's animated roster. I recall people at the time being not as excited as they wanted to be for it, and though I love Disney as a whole I found myself struggling to even remember the name of the movie and what it was about. Upon watching this video I found myself missing the 'foreboding' feeling the original built-up prior to the big drop, even as I grew older at Disneyland I remember it always feeling eery and getting those goosebumps going. That said, after the smaller drops earlier inside I did think to myself that they did a good job with the updated props in areas that did not have them before, to fill out the experience. Overall it is probably a sideways step. No great offense was made in the changes, no great victories. The important parts are still there, the big exciting drop, and the excuse to snuggle up with the person you were there to enjoy the park with.
The beginning part as you go into the barn is in my head meant to symbolise exiting the real world and transported into the animated world of the br’er characters. Everything done on splash seemed to be intentional, having purpose behind it rather than being mere decoration. The new ride is lazy, cost more to accomplish and the only redeeming thing as you said is the retention of the original ride system, which is literally the bare minimum of what they could have done. They used newer tech for the figures and updated how they move I’ll give you that, but they aren’t utilised nearly as well as the originals were… how is that even possible? If you notice in the original ride, you don’t see a character, turn the corner and instantly see them again.. they’re broken up by eachother, you’d see the bear and the fox, then the rabbit then some scenery and other filler characters, then the trio again in a different scene in a different scinario. The lack of visual gags is one of the biggest and most obvious take away for me, you didn’t have to know a story with splash to understand the rough story beats as they explained themselves visually.. that alongside a clear shift in tone towards the middle through music key and lighting to anticipate the drop vs no build up at all. Then you have the iconic songs which speak for themselves, one of which being one of Disneys anthems for a number of years. But no, you’re right, it was just a mere sidestep not a complete downgrade in every sense of the word…..
Disney deemed Splash Mountain racist for some reason. I’ve seen Song of the South, it isn’t racist. So they decided to use their only black character and force her into a ride that makes no sense to the character. The pandering to black people is insulting

Haha people overly emotional about an old outdated ride. The side by side clearly shows and improvement in color, i was surprised to see even brighter. The scenes arent dull and washed out anymore.
Considering the original ride was a groundbreaking and ambitious attraction that was designed with very specific story beats to build up to the final thrilling climax, and that the retheme for some reason decided to literally do the exact opposite (per their own words in an LA Times interview), there are very clearly issues with the new version that prevent it from living up to the original ride. The problem isn't just that the old ride is gone, it's that its replacement is trying to shove a square peg in a round hole; the ride was built around plot development, so it feels really soulless and empty when there is none.
How? There are fewer animatronics, worse music, lack of conflict in the story, and multiple moments of darkness. TBA is a complete downgrade from Splash Mountain.
Ok I’ve sat in front on both rides and I must say Tiana got me SOAKED. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever gotten that wet on the ride before. For people concerned about the story line, the queue has a lot of detail to mention that it kicks off from when she got her restaurant and after she got married. Buuuuut I do like the suspense of Splash better. The build up was intense.
OK, I know people aren’t gonna like my opinion. I was there when splash Mountain opened and I love the ride, but I also really like Tiana princess and the frog story is really cute. I love all the critters. They did a good job and I know people don’t wanna break from their principal, but DISNEY did good Things change people change time change if we don’t change with it. It becomes stagnant and no longer relevant. It’s OK for change and I think true people would realize that Walt was all about change all the time so that being said I love the ride good job, DISNEY. I think you hit it out of the park oh and by the way, my 14 year-old son totally gets the right now. G wonder if that makes any sense absolutely he thinks it’s cool.
@@dogg-pawsno, you’re opinion is valid too, don’t worry so much sweet cakes! But guess what? News flash, their opinion is ALSO valid, like the guy said. I wish Tiana’s adventure was only done in one park like how they did guardians of the galaxy to tower of terror but the OG still stands untouched as it should in Hollywood studios I love the OG splash mountain but its their rides and its their IP do do with as they please i just wish we still had a original version to ride
I think the issue was that they tried giving it the Frozen Ever After treatment, not realizing that it only worked fine on Maelstrom because the drops weren't the central focus of the ride experience. Trying to do that on a ride that was purposefully built around having big dramatic drops makes it feel far more empty when those drops have no real buildup or payoff.
The Tiana version is more colorful (I love the hanging colored bottles), is better lit, has more scenes with animatronics and special effects, better music from Randy Newman, has the beautiful cypress trees and spanish moss, and finale that actually makes sense with the story (the SM riverboat had nothing to do with SOTS, it was thrown in there from another ride that they closed). Its shame so may people can't see beyond what they think is a political issue to appreciate the new ride.
Except the rest of the story is utterly nonsensical and doesn't match with a ride that was purpose-built to have a story that builds up to the final drop. I could say the same thing about people not seeing beyond politics to gaslight themselves into thinking this actually has any actual substance to it.
I’m sorry but after just riding this myself a few days ago I have to say Tiana’s is better! Splash mountain was nostalgic for its time but Tiana’s is going to appeal to a whole generation of kids who grew up in the late 2000’s and they’re going to be obsessed just like I am.
Splash Mountain was always the wrong type of ride for a Princess and the Frog retheme. A boat ride like like Jungle Cruise ( type, I am not saying retheme Jungle Cruise ) or maybe even retheming Tom Sawyer Island would have been much more appropriate choices for a Tiana ride or area.
I’m glad I got to ride Splash Mountain before they turned it into this farce. I even got to ride up front a few times, best seat IMO. I grew up one county away from the Anaheim, CA park.
Tiana’s version looks so lifeless and bland compared to Splash. It’s like when you’d rather go on Splash instead but your mom says “We have Splash Mountain at home” and instead it’s Tiana’s Bayou.
Splash mountain for the win. It is much brighter and full of life. Has many animatronics on display to tell the story. Tiana’s was very much dark. And less animatronics to tell a story. Most of the ride was food props and screens for video.
You right, probably because its supposed to appear much more funnier for younger audiences, and they simplified the ride so kids would understand more..

When I was watching splash mountain it felt like just something whole heartedly made for kids to enjoy no matter how many people rode it, but tianas bayu feels like they were just trying to get people to go on the ride then want to go buy tiana merch.
For someone that has never rode either one because I have only been one time my entire life and tianas was under construction at the time....i think I like Tianas better. I get nastalgia but it just looks better to me from this video.
Not a bad ride, but Splash is just sooo much better in almost every way. That finale scene might be the only real competition Splash has with this new ride, I think it’s absolutely incredible. But other than that, the animatronics aren’t as animated and there’s not as many and the music was far catchier in splash (but it’s still pretty good at tiana’s)
Princess and the Frog is a good movie with some great music, so it’s really unfortunate this ride didn’t live up to the potential it could have had.

Well said! You hit the nail on the head! Too bad they couldn’t leave a fan favorite alone.
The ending show scene definitely gives it a higher score than a 6 for me
I like both. Idk why they didn't just build a separate ride...
I loved splash mountain, it was always the first ride I would go on.
Oh wow! Haven't ridden it in person yet but Tiana's is clearly a worthy upgrade! So much more to see, so much more color and motion. I know a lot of people upset by the update, yeah well I'm still sour about ToT. But TBA is beautiful and I think it's a huge improvement over SM.
Your kidding right?
Some visuals look nice, but the new story is just such a bad foundation for what is supposed to be a thrill ride.
@@Drebe73 Fewer animatronics, worse music, boring story compared to Splash Mountain, technical issues... TBA is a big downgrade overall.

Tiana’s is a really good ride and top ten at WDW. Sue me
Tiana starts waaaaay stronger! Slight edge to Splash once you get inside after the 1st drop. After the 2nd drop I just like Splash more, it gives more emotional scope. But I do enjoy what Tiana did there. From the final drop on I have to give it to Splash though. Tiana has more life there, but splash had the better song. The very ending is a wash, I like the frogs with the city landscape, but prefer brear rabbit at the very very end lol
also Tiana wins by a landslide being prettier on the outside and amazing at night.

@@Balootoyoutoovery well said. After the Tiana re theme it should be called “trash mountain” now

You can renovate a ride to add more bolder colors, but people are going to be mad if a classic is removed and phased out for an IP
its the same exact ride but with different characters. i like the updated version. its more colorful and positive imo.

The frozen ever after snowball drop has more thematic buildup now
I think the issue was that they tried giving it the Frozen Ever After treatment, not realizing that it only worked fine on Maelstrom because the drops weren't the central focus of the ride experience. Trying to do that on a ride that was purposefully built around having big dramatic drops makes it feel far more empty when those drops have no real buildup or payoff.
The only ones who will ever be able to experience Splash again are reality shifters.

Splash mountain for the win. It is much brighter and full of life. Has many animatronics on display to tell the story.
Tiana’s was very much dark. And less animatronics to tell a story. Most of the ride was food props and screens for video.
