    Just to clarify, if you suspect someone is missing you DO NOT have to wait 24 hours before reporting them, the first few hours of them being missing are the most important.

    • @AalwaysAwesomeAaj
      @AalwaysAwesomeAaj 6 лет назад +197

      The police won't listen to you or care to put in a report until 24-48 hours have passed, because it could be a false alarm. If it ends up being serious, then they're just fucked. I don't really agree with it either and you should definitely tell the police instantly, but you can't be guaranteed that there will be any effort to find said missing person until the next few days.

    • @oliviachainey7029
      @oliviachainey7029 6 лет назад +41

      What it is, is that the police often will not file a report until 24 hours because there are so many explanations for someone being missing for a few hours

    • @spinyslasher6586
      @spinyslasher6586 6 лет назад +27

      The thing is; money and assets are limited, and the police doesn't want to waste money on what could most possibly be a false alarm. because then they'd be starved of resources when an actual emergency comes by.

    My little brother went missing at the age of 6 when I was 13 and I'm currently 22. He was found 2 years ago living with a man who took him because he looked like his biological son who passed away. I'll never forget the look on his face when the police brought him back. I ran to him so fast and hugged him so hard we fell down on the ground. If anyone out there has had a loved one go missing never stop believing in the chance you'll see them again because there's a chance they will come back into your life.

    I was told by a few friends of mine, who are officers, that waiting 24 hours to report is the worst idea. That allows for more time for things to go wrong. I'm not saying to call if someone is gone an hour, but report something within a reasonable time. It is always easier to cancel a missing person report than it is to look for a body.

    • @gonoslowr
      @gonoslowr 3 года назад +2

      @@seabreeze9296 it really just depends on the area that you live in and the training they received. It was common a while ago to have to wait. Maybe since gps wasn't on every device and people didn't have phones. I think the majority of today's law enforcement and staff on the missing persons team are more educated and aware of the negative and potentially deadly outcomes of waiting and negligence.

    • @three7446

      It’s sad to say but you’re right. The abusing father probably raised the kids and got to hurt them during their childhood. Jaycee Dugard actually addressed claims that she has developed Stockholm Syndrome for her captor as degrading and untrue. She clarified that she pretended to empathise and trust her captor as a means to survive the abuse. Please research more thoroughly, next time because I was able to find that information with a quick Google search.

    • @BombDaBase1
      @BombDaBase1 5 лет назад +142

      Mmm with you a quick google search you'd also see that she was defending her captor even when being interrogated. HE'S the one that confessed and only then did she 'drop the act' that you're saying she did. That's just the tip of the iceberg too. There's many instances that she could have escaped and even had access to a telephone and email for over a decade. But you're going to believe her 'pretending' story, right? So sorry to say it bluntly but she was A) brainwashed by them or B) simply didn't want an out. A) is 99% likely.

      Reminds me of my family... my mom's dad went to another state and lived with his mom after he and grandma got a divorce, then one day he left work and was never seen again. My mom got one of those mail-in DNA tests recently and found out he wasn't even her dad... his brother was. Ooooooooo... Explains the divorce, though. The oldest generation involved is all dead so she just contacted her real dad's kids and invited them to the family reunion. Pretty chill reaction to a thoroughly messed up family.

    This story about Jaycee Dugard is so false
    One: They said her last name wrong
    Two: She was never in the basement she actually wasn't allowed in the house for a very long time. She was kept in a separate backyard.Which is why officers never found her when they searched his home as that was still happening when she was there.
    Three: She wasn't at her house when abducted. She was already dropped off at the bus stop by her stepdad according to her stepfather. Yet in her book she said that she hadn't seen him and so she just walked like she did sometimes.
    Please people do your research if you are going to speak to things like they are fact.

    There is the story of the boy whose father kidnapped him when he was three, and told him his mother was dead. The little boy believed his father’s lie his whole life. Then about a year after his father died, the boy, now a middle aged man found out his mother was alive, and she had been looking for him all of those years. He was finally reunited with his mother 43 YEARS after he went missing. I know this story might not fit in with the ones in this video - there were people who knew both the boy and his mom, but I still thought that it was an amazing story - especially since he thought his mother was dead all of that time.

    When I was a kid, a family friend, a young 16 yo girl by the name of Joanna Rogers was kidnapped and killed by a soldier who had already murdered a prostitute prior, her case remained cold and everyone in Lubbock searched for her, they found a link between her case and the prior murder case, and caught the guy, and using the details the killer gave as part of a plea deal to escape the death penalty, it took a long time but they ended up finding her body in a suitcase in a landfill. At the last moment her killer, a man named Rodriguez III went back on his plea deal, so the prosecutors were actually happy, since it meant they could throw it out and go for the death penalty, he's been on death row ever since waiting for his lethal injection.

    My Father's Aunt vanished onto a bus in the 70's. The family never spoke about her again and no one knew anything. The estate she had inherited from her parents was bled dry by her siblings while she was gone, they used all the money trying to find her until there was no money left. Fast forward to 2015, my Dad's Sister found their Aunt's death certificate, one was filed under a fake name and one was filed under her original name in the year 2004. Apparently she went and had an entire family none of us knew about. My Family has yet to reach out to them, I wonder if my Great Aunt went into a fugue state or was kidnapped, if she remembered my dad's family or ever spoke of them to her new family.
