And yes 100% rice mash bill all grown in south Louisiana by the same family that produces the whiskey. They also do a vodka
I won an ABC State Lottery for a bottle of WLW in April 2023 and I was getting married in September 2023. I saved that bottle and cracked it open with my wedding party the morning of our wedding. It's been drank once and the bottle is about 1/2 empty, but it was so worth it to share with those guys on that morning. Small Circle bottle indeed

I've had a few Japanese whiskies that were 100% rice aged in new oak and they reminded me a lot of bourbon, their price was out of my range but I would love to have a bottle :P

Junkies, do an episode where you make calculated blends, such as 1oz of Eagle Rare 10 with 1oz of Stagg and see what happens. 1oz of Jack 12 with 1oz of Jack Barrell Proof. What's the verdict? Doooooo it.

Random thought while they were talking about Eagle Rare 17 and King of Kentucky... We've seen the legacy distilleries start producing more age stated whiskey again and the real strategy just hit me. Bourbon has always been a young barrels game. Scotch, by comparison, is an old barrels game. Yes, new oak vs used oak... but Scotch enthusiast don't even look at most Scotch under 12 years old as even a real bottle. Hell, most don't get interested unless you at least have an 18 year product. As a legacy distiller with a few hundred thousand barrels on your property how do you really crush the small craft guys... age.
Looks like we are headed towards a JD 14 year this year, Russels 15 year, and probably MORE available Knob Creek 12 & 15 year products. It felt like age statements were going away because a few brands stopped putting as many statements on their bottles (mostly Buffalo Trace). If the bourbon bubble is deflating, even slightly, the legacy brands are going to smash the market with age stated products to bury the craft brands who literally just can't afford to release 10 year and older whiskey.
Mark my words - 10 year products from every major distillery will be shelfers by the end of 2025. I fully expect we start to see Eagle Rare, OF 1924, and Jack 10 as readily available products. We already have Mckenna from HH Hill product there (and given the mount of 7yr HH BIB sitting around I we see that age statement revised soon) and Russels 10.
What's truely exciting is I think there is a race to have non-LE reasonably priced 12-15 year product on shelf from these same brands. Weller 12 has been much more available in 2024 than 2023. I'm expecting a price jump to $65-75 at some point and shortly after a flooding of the market as they increase distribution.

All the Dark Arts stuff is amazing IMO. Their blends are forward thinking and they are pushing the envelope in all the right ways.

The list should be different for every person, that's what makes it fun.
Even if John retires, he isn't going anywhere. JFR will live on. John will still be at the track. They won't have a problem keeping drivers, crew or sponsors if they keep a quality product on the track.
All I can say is yall need to find yourself some JT Meleck and Frey Ranch single barrels. 🥵

This video is the epitome why I’ve lost interest in the “Whiskey Tube.” I really appreciate the honesty in this video, you guys have clearly “made it,” did a while ago and as you stated in the video… you’ve got like 1500 bottles to choose from that include finds and a lot of hook ups of the truly rare things. That said, for me, someone living in a small control State, there’s just no relevance in viewing a lot of the whiskey content anymore as it’s evolved to a lot of talk about inaccessible bottles due to rarity and or small distribution.
That said, can I expect this many years later for you to still be touting Rare Breed and 1920? Absolutely not, that been done 100 times and you’ve moved on as you should have given your access.
I dunno, I just wish there was a place somewhere in the middle that could be visited more often, but it’s all good. Cheers.
