As someone who really loved the Barbie movie, "Life in the Dream House" has really been keeping me going until I can buy the movie on digital. This video was SUCH a nice surprise!

I watched this with my sister & my cousin in the 2010s and we liked it.
My sister used to love this show, I used to make fun of her for watching it while watching it with her as if I wasn’t enjoying watching it too 😅

So, I was in Senior 3 (9th grade equivalent, different school system) and we had gone to like an inter school function
So as we were arriving, there was another bus arriving full of girls (it was an all girls school) and you know how we get
So our teacher was trying to get us to stop wilding out and I looked across the bus and there was a girl seated at the front looking at the bus mirror so what I did (and I don't know why I did it) was write down this very line only difference was I wrote beautiful because it was about her and basically chuck it into the other bus but I didn't see her after that
Fast forward to like holidays, I was heading out to a movie (I don't remember which one but it was a pretty hyped up movie) qnd I see her again but I don't push it because I don't think she took anything from it
So, I head into the movie, watch it and then when it's done, I head to the food court to grab food
And then I see her again approaching me and I'm like nah, she never even saw my face, just ignore
Now I have a scar on my cheek below my left earfrom like a surgery I had as a kid to remove a tumor (it was benign, don't get scared) and somehow she managed to remember my face by that
So, long story short, we ate together, talked for while and even exchanged numbers and we started dating for like a year but we broke up because I wanted to get with another girl but I didn't want to cheat(I'm not perfect) but we still talk from time to time coz we did similar courses during uni and so we shared classes
We're still waiting...
This series is so funny.
side note: most of the movies where they are treated as actual people are that way because barbie as an actress (among many things), and those as the movies she is starring in. (barbie as/barbie in…) they even have bloopers!
there are some real life ones - like fashion fairy tale, which starts with her being fired from the movie set.
so in some way, thats all part of the lore i guess

I remember watching this with my gf and enjoying it. Tho I guess we didn't watch all, there was a lot I don't remember. Thanks to the weird netflix order thing I guess.
My relationship with Barbie as a boy is not non-existent. I had a sister, the first gift I ever made anyone was the first Barbie she got from me. And on TV I sometimes cought the movies, which I feel like everyone can agree are just not good.
I enjoy this way more, when Barbie acknowledges her existence as a Toy. Which she does in this show and in the new movie...those are the things that I can actually get into. I wasn't afraid to associate with girly things as a kid, and I maybe would have been more into Barbie as a child if I had media like this to go along with it.
Barbie life in the dream house doesn’t carelessly promote capitalism, in fact many times it points out laziness, vanity, superficiality(which are all parts of being human). The show is genius because it actually displays the characters as DOLLS. It’s also not pretentious in anyway which is why its display of utopia is so interesting and fun.
The show also teaches us to find meaning in the things that aren’t screaming ideas at us like every other show and movie. One of my favorite episodes is when closet, who is basically AI, turns evil and wants to collab with Barbie to take over fashion. I think everyone should watch it.
I adore this show so much. It seriously feels like it was made for me. Btw, you can still watch many if not all of these episodes on RUclips. In several languages to boot. Lately I've been watching it in Greek to practice.

Wow, this show basically looks like if that new Barbie movie was a web series. I guess you could say that the new Barbie movie is basically a live-action adaptation of "Life in the Dreamhouse", but with the film's director, Greta Gerwig, mixing in her feminist and progressive themes into the mix.
Starting to question how people are saying that Ken was portrayed badly in the movie even more after watching this movie. The Ken in this show basically looks like if Gosling's Ken got a girlfriend. I guess the people saying that have never actually seen any form of Barbie media properly and are just making wild assumptions. To be fair most critics of the movie I've encountered usually involve making wild assumptions to any media they find.
I might have to try see this show a bit in my free time.

I've always been amazed that Barbie didn't have a cartoon series in the 80's, where you'd THINK one would just be a license to print money for Mattel. Yet Hasbro's inferior knockoff got a TERRIBLE cartoon called "Maxie's World." And yes, I know there was some Barbie DTV special or something that was oh so similar to Jem, but the 80's was prime cartoons based off of toys real estate. Even Hot Wheels got a cartoon in the 70's that was so obviously a commercial legislation was passed banning those kinds of cartoons until 80's deregulation. Meanwhile Hasbro's just a volcano of IP making G.I. Joe, Transformers, My Little Pony, even some Mr. Potatohead thing.
