    "Sony XB23 Review:
The Sony XB23 is a satisfactory speaker for outdoor use. It has a lightweight, portable design that you can easily take with you on the go. There's an adjustable strap to help you attach it to your bag or backpack, so it's ideal for travel. It has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance that certifies it to be fully dust-tight and immersible, in up to a meter of water for 30 minutes! Unfortunately, it can't get very loud, so it can't fill up a large space with your audio.
    Battery Time:
This speaker is good for outdoor use; it feels sturdy and durable, even though it's small in size. It is also battery-operated and has over 12 hours of continuous playback time which is excellent. There are some compression artifacts at max volume, though. Sorry, loud music listeners.
Overall, the Sony XB43 is great for outdoor use. It has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, so you can take it outdoors with you without needing to worry about getting it a little dusty or wet (especially from light rain). It lasts around 15 hours on a single charge, which is incredible; and there are lots of power-saving features available. However, its soundstage isn't very immersive, and there is some compression present at a max volume which was a downside for me, personally.

Just stumbled on your RUclips Channel cause of the Wake up Light Reviews, really good content overall. Really informative.

For what it's worth, the newer XE200, XE300 onwards DO allow the Music Center App to use its lights. The Party Connect works for combining all of my speakers together (XE300 & XG300), but I agree it is finnicky.
I can honestly say that Sony HAS improved the newer speakers and their connectivity to the app, but I would say the improvements have not made it completely perfect. There's still some connectivity issues sometimes, but you can't say it doesn't work. (I have no experience with the XB line speakers, so I can't say how poorly they worked)

they have an entire new line of speakers but they're all different now and don't have the flashing led lights. their new line is all about portability with some led lighting.

Lighting and sound control are in one app. I refuse to use that additional app. Although, I rarely use the novelty of those lights. My app experience hasn't been buggy at all. I actually have all three lol each one has a different use case scenario. And party mode is too much for my place to handle especially at higher volumes haha and the feature work just fine once grouping them together via the app, of course.

Not sure what the app was like a year ago, but works for me fine now. You really have to EQ this speaker and not use Live Mode for good sound. Mega Bass usually I turn it off as I like more fine detailed music, but the option is there for more robust party playing. By the way, I would not have these speakers in the vertical position as you will be blocking one of the radiators and the bass will get attenuated somewhat. These are good speakers even in 2023 as there has only been a lot of mediocre ones pour in this crowded market. With Sony's LDAC you can play hi res music from good sources, a good thing for keen listeners. Cheers.

I seriously considered buying the *XB33* before finally pulling the trigger on a *Bose Soundlink Flex* instead. But did not because a) it is made by *Sony* & b) those lights & or lights on any speaker (regardless of make or model) look just so damn cringeworthy. Making it the ultimate deal breaker for myself. Regardless if the product with them actually performs well or not, as well.

So you must have the Sony app?? I can't just plug and play with Spotify? I see the big one on sale now for $148.

You could just use a straight up Bluetooth connection, yes.

Sony really need to step up their game on the design department, these SRS-XBs look like cheap boombox speakers from the 90s.
