Man watching this kills me.. This was our super bowl roster... Matt Ryan, TONY G, RODDY, Julio , Harry Douglas, and Michael turner and our defense wasn't that bad that year.. And we didn't win the super bowl

    • @sledgehammerk35
      @sledgehammerk35 8 лет назад +10

+Ricky Todd Couldn't agree more. I would like to blame our missed SB opportunity on the refs not calling that hold on Roddy White during our final drive against the 49ers, but if I'm being honest, this team basically just kept checking out during the 3rd quarter of both playoff games. Should've kept their foot on the gas.

I really hope they do at some point, but with Kyle Shanahan, who knows... Dude is a QB career killer and he has done a number on Matt Ryan.

+Ricky Todd i know the feeling .. we should have fuckin at least played in the superbowl before tony left ... but for some reason turner decided to "turn it off" after this smh ... then they traded harry .. now matt ryan is suckin it up its a disaster - and this team was under mike smith ...

I miss this roster too. I actually was at this game that year and I was sitting next to a group of Giants fans and they were so quite and left 2 minutes into the 4th quarter lol.Good times!. I really hope our Falcons can get back to that form and finish the job by taking us to the Super Bowl

The ball was knocked loose from Williams, and on the helmet catch, Eli was being grabbed at by 3 patriots, managed to step out of it and still made a good throw. And I'm sure Eli's 9 tds and 1 pick in the playoffs didn't help them get there.

as a pats fats fan, i know what Eli can do in the playoffs...He's almost "scary" good in the playoffs, but it's always a challenge to the giants to make the playoffs. Most elite QB's can make the playoffs-no problem, Brady, P.Manning, Ryan, Rodgers, Brees, Rosthlisburger (despite the past season, they are usually always there). Heck, even Joe Flacco is always in the playoffs (not to take anything away from this season, he had an AMAZING post-season, but he's very average during the reg. season)

  • @roflmao7231
    @roflmao7231 11 лет назад

The only reason being Crabtree. But even in his absence, they have Anquan Boldin, 1st round WR AJ Jenkins who I think will step up a lot this year, Mario Manningham and Quinton Patton. Also I think Kaepernick will develop a good connection with Vernon Davis that they never had last year until the playoffs.

Falcons finally win ONE Playoff game after 8 years.
I've noticed the last 5 teams to beat the Falcons in the playoffs have all went on to the SuperBowl. So that pretty much makes the Falcons a Stepping Stone for the NFC.
2012 the 49ers stepped on em',
2011 the GIANTS stepped on em'
2010 the Packers stepped on em'
2008 the Cardinals stepped on em'
2004 the Eagles stepped on em'
Falcons will make the 2013 playoffs, the NFC needs their good ole' sturdy stepping stone.

The Niners defense isn't that old. Patrick Willis is dead center in his prime at 28, Bowman is 25, Aldon Smith is 24,Donte Whitner is 28,Ray McDonald is 29 which is getting up there but he's still in his prime. Justin Smith is the only old one really.

    But hey,
They won a Divisional Game?? WOW!!! That's Fantastic!!!
Man, all NFL fans are gonna remember this Great Achievement.
    RE-WRITE THE NFL HISTORY BOOKS,
AND LET IT BE KNOWN, THE FALCONS WON A DIVISIONAL PLAYOFF GAME & CAME WITHIN "FIVE" YARDS OF GETTING TO THE SUPERBOWL.
Can someone tell me if the NFL gives a Trophy for winning a Divisional Game & almost winning??

  • @KenDaKingArrives
    @KenDaKingArrives 11 лет назад

The Giants don't go crazy every year looking for replacement parts because they don't have to. They draft for the future well enough to avoid that, including hitting on every 1st rounder since 2009 under GM Reese so far. They sign low risk/high reward contracts for second/third tier free agents, with only the occasional emergency need free-agent splash like Boley and Canty in '09 and Antrel Rolle in 2010. Questioning a regime that won 2 superbowls in 4 years is also stupid, don't you think?

You forgot: Playoff wins? Winning playoff drives by your qb? And wow! 2 NFC South titles???? How about 2 Super Bowl titles???? Wanna trade your QB for Eli? Maybe then you have a chance of winning in the post season. You did blast the Giants last year. How about 2011 when a win over the Giants would have prolonged your season? Oh, that's right, it was YOU that got blasted 24-2. Great QB in that game. That's ok, you can live on your blasting of the Giants last year while we live on 2 super bowls!

And this was the same Giants SB team the year before who beat them like 24-2 in the 2011 Wild Card. This just irritates me that Ryan didn’t target TonyG 4th and 3 on the SF 7 needing to get to the 3(2 1/2) yard line(Instead of Roddy on the SF 6) in the NFCC with under 90 seconds to go. Tony was crossing and had his hands up. The story of Matt Ryan’s career.
But this Falcon team of 2012 was to me by ranking’s
    1. 2012 13-3 Should have played the Ravens in the SB
    2. 1980 12-4 was rated the best in the NFL on both sides and weapon wise. They were better than the NFC SB representative Eagles who lost to the Raiders
    3. 2016 11-5: This was hard as I think the 1998 14-2 was better on both sides of the ball but didn’t have the weapons nor Shanahan’s play calling. We all know they the coaches blew this game due to time management. This was a lightning in a bottle team who were 6-5 before winning 5 straight into the playoffs.
    4. 1998 14-2: This team was a Dan Reeves disciplined team. Not really talented as the others other than the O and D lines but they didn’t make mistakes until the SB. I did not want to put 2016 ahead of them but Denver was just better.
    5. 2017 10-6: I know 2010 was 13-3 but Green Bay showed they were a pretenders in the Division blow out. 1994’s 11-5 was just Mike Vick doing Mike Vick which got them to a T.O’less NFCC but the Eagles shut him down totally. Ugly. 2017 the team’s defense was great the Shanahan’less offense puttered but the got past the high powered Rams in the Wild Card and Matt Ryan telegraphed Julio vs the underdog Eagles in the Division on the games last play when FB Coleman and WR Sanu were open in the end zone while Jones was triple covered and tripping. Another Matt Ryan story.
5a. 1994: 1994’s 11-5 was just Mike Vick doing Mike Vick after the broken ankle which got them to a T.O’less NFCC but the Eagles shut him down totally
    6. 2002 9-6-1: Vicks first year as a starter. They demolished Brett Farve in the Wild Card.
    7. 2010 13-3: The record was better than the team. The Packers took all the talk from their regular season meeting and made them eat it in the NFC divisional blowout.
    8. 11-5: Matt Ryan rookie season. The season was a pleasant surprise until Fitzgerald and Warner sent us home.
    9. 1991 10-6: The “Too Legit to Quit” Run and Shoot “Prime Time” Glanville Falcons. SB Champ Redskins sent them home.
    10. 2011 10-6: They made it to the NFC Wild Card only to not score a TD or a Field Goal. Just 2 pts vs Eli and the SB winning Giants.

the thing is though... the falcons have been rebuilding ever since they lost a ton of money in the Vick situation. So yea it took the, a while to recover. Plus they beat Seattle in a playoff situation. as I recall the niners lost to Seattle once during the regular season. its not that they are happy, its called progression. to say they wont be better this year is just stupid, espcially while the giants haven't really made any major improvements this year.

Let me remind you that the 49ers have lost more NFC Championship Games than any other team in the Conference.
Also they have more Losses than Wins in the NFC Championship Game.
So basically, the 49ers Winning the NFC Championship again is like flipping a coin, and a coin is a 50/50 shot. The 49ers winning percentage is "Below That" in the NFC Championship Game.
They have a Great Chance. (smirk)

    (2) QB & WR are not the only position that you "draft for the future" for...you don't waste big money on a older free agent RB when there are so many RBs in every draft, every year. It's money wasted that could go to some other position down the road, yes even if it's Steven Jackson, who's 29 going on 30 soon. You use veteran players to help coach up the younger players so the drop-off is less when the changes are made. Otherwise your success will be short-lived.

I never understood how the giants could whoop the Falcons ass less than a year earlier and then this happens. But honestly as of now, the Falcons aren't that much better than the Giants. Talent wise at least. Their offenses are pretty even. Giants d-line is better, Falcons secondary is better, both have weak LB corps but Atlanta has Spoon.

If it wasn't for those 2 interceptions to Larry Brown that practically gave the Cowboys 14 points. Brown didn't do anything special, the Steelers QB threw it directly to Brown with no other Steeler Jersey in sight.
Cowboys caught 2 breaks in that SuperBowl.
    The 2011 NFC Championship Game?
Get ur facts straight, it was 1 Muffed punt in the 4th Qtr, the other in overtime was a Fumble.
Cowboys can catch a Break, but the GIANTS can't?

    Old SB titles mean nothing??
Yeah, that's a smart thing to say:
Old SB Titles shows a Franchises & current team's success.
Help me out, besides Brady, is there another active QB with more SB rings than Eli??
Those old SB Titles show the Success of the GIANTS in the Post Season.
    So when you say,
    "Old SB Titles mean nothing"
That's easy to say when your team has "Zero" SB Titles.
Maybe 1 day the Falcons will pass the GIANTS in SB Titles.
We'll probably both be LONG Dead before that happens.

But despite some of the facts I just pointed out.
Almost ANYTHING can happen in the NFL.
So time will tell who wins it all in the 2013 season.

It's nice to know that the Falcons have a few rings to boast about their success in the playoffs... Whoops! Sorry about that!

Your comment about the GIANTS is appreciated & if the Falcons take it all, I'll be a good sport & Congratulate the Team. This Syminite1 person talks like the Falcons own the GIANTS after 1 shutout of 34-0. Last I'd check Falcons & GIANTS beat each other quite regularly. The series is Tied, so neither team owns the other. If the GIANTS & Falcons play again, who knows what the outcome would be?
Last 2 teams to win their 1st SB was the 2009 Saints & 2002 Bucs. Time to catch up to your rivals.

Yeah, like the GIANTS are the "only" team to ever some fortune happen in the Post Season.

But what happened in the playoffs?

  • @GRIMLOCK07
    @GRIMLOCK07 11 лет назад

Just like you cling to the 34-0 victory.
And what do the Falcons have to cling to after any Post Season? Nothing.
Btw, I look forward to RG3 performance, if the GIANTS don't make it to the 2013 playoffs, so be it. Whatever NFC East team represents in the playoffs, I'll congratulate em', (even though I won't be crazy about the team) & wish them well, hoping they'll bring another SB Title to the Division.
NFC East has won 12 SB's out of the 25 the NFC has.
    How the NFC South doing?

How were they lucky? Yeah the helmet catch was lucky, but Eli also managed to break away from 3 huge lineman trying to sack him and he still made a decent throw. And there was no luck whatsoever in the 2011 SB. Eli had 9 or 10 TDs and 1 interception in the playoffs. They raped the Falcons, beat the 15-1 packers at LAMBEAU in the freezing cold by 17 points, and beat the #2 seed 49ers at Candlestick.
