The goings one at the hospitals in Sunderland brings back memories. When I worked at Sunderland Royal (the old Sunderland General), The head of the trust came down with some of the admin staff to do carols, on the Christmas Eve night shift. Touring all the wards must have taken a fair bit of time. This was the mid 2000s.

That must have been lovely for the patients to enjoy the festivities too ☺️

Goose seemed to be the favourite in Victorian times if the Sherlock Holmes story, The Blue Carbuncle is anything to go by. By WWI the turkey seems to have taken over as there is a story in a Biggles book where our eponymous here searches for a turkey. It is only when he's in the air that he remembers the turkey he saw was behind enemy lines!
Oh! The poor Xmas pudding. R.I.P.⚰ I hope no sailors were drowned digging it's grave. 😁😁
My absolute favourite part of Xmas dinner is the sage & onion stuffing made with sausagemeat, (veggie sausagemeat in my case). You can keep all the rest.

I'll have to look up that biggles book story! I love the stuffing on a Christmas dinner too, my favourite bits are the pigs in blankets and roasties!

@@northeastnostalgic5071 The Turkey is in Biggles of 266. It makes me smile.😁 I usually read every Xmas Day. That and The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle.
