I definitely agree with you compared to now the 80s was definitely the golden Era of daytime soaps all of them although the 90s weren't to bad it's when the 2000s came along for some reason that's when things seemed to fall apart and in 2022 it's now gotten alot lot worse I still watch out of habit because I used to watch each and every soap past and present NBC and CBS were my main ones but for me soaps were at there best from the 80s through the 90s IMO I do watch the 70s stuff as well on RUclips and they are pretty good as well so I will say from the 70s through the 90s then the 2000s came along and things went wrong and to this day in 2022 the writings on all the shows went really bad and now the shows are barely watchable how do you feel do you agree
This is amazing! I've always wanted to see a 90-minute episode of "Another World" on RUclips! If you leave out the commercials, the episode of the show is still nearly 60 minutes long!
That ending theme is just so GORGEOUS, It always amazed me that this show did not show extended closing credits but once a week, therefore, you didn't get to hear this amazing piece of music very much. I will never understand why they didn't show even partial credits somewhat so we could treasure it more often.
Even tho we had healthy attention spans unlike today 90 mins was still to much the quality suffered for quantity .I was to young to watch from 64 to 75 but I was loooving this show from 75 till about 80 whenever the st Croix story was .then the show was sooooo boring in 81 and 82ade a good come back from 83 to about 86 then hohum from 87 till 91 .got really good again from 91 to 96 but I must admit during this time I cheated with one life to live god that show was gold during them years but me being the good Canadian that I am I came back home to another world from 96 till the ending in 99 the last 3 years were very good.i still miss this show .hell it made the Canadian nightly national news when it was cancelled .bars played marathon episodes every sunday.that era is gone sadly.todays soaps are too fast shallow and flashy. Ahh but the memories our generation had..........
William Gray Espy (Mitch) & Janice Lynde (Tracy) dated in real life and starred together on The Young & The Restless prior to Another World. On Y&R he was the original Snapper and she was the original Leslie.
I know many eps were lost due to the wiping process and the reuse of tapes but i still hope someone will find more 70s eps when the show was at its best...maybe on kinescopes or someone might have recorded on beta max...my favorite storyline was with the evil Cory groundskeeper Sven and i also liked the vilian businessman Kirk Laverty who was murdered!
the role of pat and ada were the longest standing senority at this time. Bev penthoby and Connie ford were the longest running actress on the show but the ending credits made them not at the front
Beacuse when Victoria winydham was hire to play Rachel she was a top billing actress and Douglas Watson so that why there name come first the lady who played Alice Mathews was mad and wanted her name first
Irene Daily is very much like Audra Lindley in the role of Liz. Not the mean streak Liz had in her but just mannerism and voice. Which is how recast are supposed to be
Loved Warren burton on both AW AND GL. Not so much on santa barbara . Never saw his work on all my children so I cant judge his charecter on AMC. The last thing that I saw him on was a classic horror remake where he played a millitary general dont recall if he dies in the film. His costar in the film is Emma samms aka.holly scorpio from general hospital. Dont know what's become of warren is he still alive or did he pass away.
Actor Kevin Conroy who played Jerry has just died at 66 years old he also did some voice overs for batman animation and has done some other things yep we just lost another daytime actor. I wonder how his former costar actress Laura Malone who played Blaine is doing haven't heard anything about her in years I'm certain after she left AW. She didn't do anymore acting gigs hope she is doing OK so many of our daytime faves are passing on but it seems that another world is being hit the hardest we list Anne Heche Robin Griggs and now Kevin Conroy all in 2022 who all played viki Maggie and Jerry respectively RIP my bay city family
A woman calls her Viki. There's another Viki later on in the series. Viki Hudson. Daughter of Michael and Donna. Twin to Marly. She was played by Anne Heche and then Jensen Buchanen. I remember Viki & Ryan. Only characters I recognize in this episode are Rachel, Ada, Mitch. I didn't notice Mac. Iris returns later in the series, but she's Iris Wheeler. Not Carrington. Its the same Iris character though. Iris was played by an actress with a British actress the first time I saw her on Another World. Rachel warns the groom about a man name Jason. Later on there was a man named Jason Frame. I wonder if this is him in this episode. Its not the same actor that I knew as Jason Frame. Jason Frame was a villainous. I think he stole Felicia's unpublished romance novel and tried publish it as his own. He was cruel to his sister Sharlene, who developed a split personality.
No, the Jason in this episode is Jason Dunlap. He still had feelings for Tracy even though she was getting married to Russ. Jason Frame was not mentioned or seen prior to late 1987-early 1988. Vicky in this episode was Victoria Bellman, part of the character ensemble who would be spun off to Texas. Iris had been married to Eliot Carrington prior to being married to Brian Bancroft. Iris decided to divorce Brian when she moved to Houston (the start of her spinoff to Texas). Iris was approached in Houston by a man who had loved her once years ago, Alex Wheeler. They would eventually marry, but he was later killed off. When Iris returned to Bay City in 1988, she was addressed as "Iris Wheeler" as she had not been married again since Alex. Hope this all explains part of what you brought up.
you wouldn't thappen to have the first AW 90 minute episode would you? I recall a major Mac/Rachel fight that was an award winner... and the second 90 minute episode is on you tube - but not the first... Thanks!
Wow Ryan even sounds like Evan bates from another world. The original actor. Charles Grant. I did like the 2nd actor who played him I thought he did a good job. But boy does the actor who plays Ryan on Texas sounds exactually like Evan. He would have been a very good choice if Charles had turned down the role.
denzo30, that woman who came to visit Vicky Bellman was Vicky's niece Samantha Walker, who is now Reena's cousin on "Texas." Samantha was Reena's sister as referenced on "Another World."
I'm surprise that another world didn't hire the actor who played ryan on texas to play evan bates he sounds exactly like charles grant and even looks. Like him he would have made a great even bates if charles had turned down the part. But I'm glad that they hired charles to me I thought he had much better chemistry with his bay city co stars like sandra' furgeson and robert k . Kelly. Douglass Watson victoria Wyndham connie ford and all the rest of the another world cast including Anne heche . Etc then with his former edge of night co stars. I liked edge but between edge and AW. I feel alot closer to another world especially since I have alot in common with AW. And even guiding light. And as the world turns but mainly another world a.show that never recovered from its rating slide back in the early 80s and would wind up cancelled nineteen years later. Yeah I know what it's like to never recover. So that's why I always felt that special connection to another world and bay city. It was definitely a far better soap and had way more better stories and acting then the 4 crappy soaps that are left they are very unwatchable. Lord willing they will all be cancel. They are all sending very dangerous messages
Phil Clark played Ryan on Texas. Unfortunately by the time the role of Evan came along Mr. Clark was about 60 or 70 pounds heavier than his Texas days. AW did hire him in the 90's for a while as a doctor.
Dear God, back to a time when daytime drama was perfection -- for all the shows!

This was the final 90 minute episode of "Another World". It went back to 60 minutes on 8/4/1980 to make room for "Texas".
I would love see the "Another World"/"Texas" crossover 90-minute episodes from July 1- 31, 1980! Pure gold! :-)
Irene daily who played aunt liz mattews also appeared in the amityville horror film as a nun
William Gray Espy (Mitch) & Janice Lynde (Tracy) dated in real life and starred together on The Young & The Restless prior to Another World. On Y&R he was the original Snapper and she was the original Leslie.
I thought she was on Y&R with William ..
Victoria Wyndham looks beautiful here. She- and Rachel- were always at their best when concealing a secret. Good soap. :-)
ADA and her dish towel were never far apart.

+Jim Davis Me 2 Jim. Would love to see more Iris scenes!
In 2024 watching for first time my first episode ever figure start the year I was born 1980

Janice's theme will haunt me forever. It's perfect.
One of the few times in this era that Liz refers to her husband Will, who’s death takes place just before AW’s premiere.
Irene Daily is very much like Audra Lindley in the role of Liz. Not the mean streak Liz had in her but just mannerism and voice. Which is how recast are supposed to be
After the mitch janice rachel mac st croux story around this time the show was terrible wouldnt begin to recover till 83 84
love it, wish it went back a little further to the Mac/Janice/Rachel s/l

Burton passed away in 2017.
And his character, Major Knapp, does indeed die in the 1996 film Humanoids from the Deep.
Thanks for informing didn't know that he passed 4 years ago such a talented actor so sad that the daytime community is dying out.
He was outstanding on 'All My Children.' I think that was how he got the 'Another World' gig.

Laura Malone became a successful attorney. She used the money she saved from AW to go to law school.
