- Spyro 4 has been on our minds for years now; but What will it be? Could we continue from Enter the Dragonfly? Will it include lore from previous spyro titles? what direction could they possibly go? Well, with the help of Paul Yan, and Crash Bandicoot, I think I figured out what Spyro 4 will EXACTLY be... Let's talk about it!

Guys come on we don't need more remakes we need Toys For Bob to bring us Spyro 4 before we can get Spyro 5.
I'd like that the developers make a Spyro 4 that builds on the foundations of the trilogy and explores new possibilities by sidestepping the limitations the previous games had thanks to the PS1 game design philosophy.
The control should be very familiar, but it should certainly take advantage of modern controllers, meaning better use of joysticks and buttons this time. We could have new puzzles to solve with the analog triggers even.
On that note the mini games should definitely be a shakeup this time around, they could still focus on collecting while also mixing up the level design and adding new challenges that reward even more collectibles and possibly power ups.
The OST might be tricky, unless Stewart Copeland is in the mood I guess it might be time to venture into new territory with some scores. Though I'd definitely like to hear some familiar sounding motifs used throughout this potential sequel.
And most importantly, I hope the game is fun!!!
Copeland does all sorts of interesting things. I have no doubt he would be happy to work on a new game. It almost wouldn’t be spyro without him. Almost.
A remastering of the legends series would be great, and the story itself would fit for in the age group as well.
So it sounds like we are going to have an open world Spyro 4 game.

It would be instead a spiritual successor. If there ever was a new Spyro game in development by Toys For Bob, chances are that it is canceled and possibly being reworked into something else.
Think Zera: Myths Awakened as an example, but don't go thinking that TFB would work with the creator of Zera because he is incredibly paranoid about outside help.

I really want Spyro A new beginning series to get remastered! Keep the same games, but just update the graphics and make them playable on newer gaming consoles. I loved that trilogy, and with Elijah Wood and Gary Oldman doing the voices was awesome.

Same here! The Legend of Spyro will always be my favorite games within the franchise for introducing me to the purple dragon and telling such an epic story with gorgeous, atmospheric music. 🧡 Its development as a trilogy was riddled with issues that hindered its success despite its awesome creative ideas, it would truly benefit from a remake.

My prediction: Spyro 4: Time Flies. The same dragon gameplay with a splash of new time-bending mechanics. Maybe the home worlds are different versions of the same world (Past, Present, Future) Possible Crash cameo at the end....dimension and time travel stuff is an easy invitation for crossovers

Prioritizing open world aspects like games that aren't spyro is an idea I don't like. I would much rather run through a dozen smaller levels with different color schemes and enemies than have five hub worlds with a million things to do in them. That would be like Outer Worlds, where its fun but after a few hours in the same location running back and forth it gets stale whereas Spyro let you go between varied levels in short bursts.

I want this new Spyro game to be a sequel & alternate continuity in this series, featuring a completely rewritten Red The Dragon as the main antagonist & final boss,
as well as a rewritten Sorcerer (originally from Spyro: Shadow Legacy) and Malefor (originally from The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon) as extra bosses throughout the game. 😂😂😂
I would like the world design to be like A hero’s tail. Big open world with other smaller areas interconnected with no “level end” point.
I feel like a hero’s tails exploration and bigger worlds was a perfect evolution to the Spyro formula.

Wouldn't hate a sequel to Spyro 3 from the original trilogy or from the legend of Spyro series tbh.
I would love it if it were from the legend of Spyro more because in it there was more evidence as to why Spyro in particular is important, as he had all those breathes and abilities such as time control at his disposal that and the fact that you can actually fly instead of just glide made Spyro a proper Dragon.
Which made his whole being the only answer in a world of Dragons make actual sense.
After all without the qualities just mentioned from the legend of Spyro any Dragon could do it.
In short, they would be idiots to not make Spyro 4 and continue on with the original series.
Everything else that came after is a stain on the ip, they can bring Cynder into Spyro 4 though as long as it plays like the OG trilogy.
I disagree , I love a hero’s tail and the legend of Spyro series, those games are not bad, despite what the original fans may say! Those games are not a “stain” on the franchise, they’re different, but great games in their own right.

As much as I wish for and long for a remake or continuation of The Legend of Spyro trilogy, I am very excited to see where Toys For Bob may take Spyro next! 🧡💜 I can't deny the charm and appeal of the classic trilogy and it's no wonder why it's so beloved (Hell, I love it too). I'm just glad to see our purple boyo get the attention and comeback he's deserved for so long, and to see many Spyro fans (Insomniac trilogy, post-Insomniac classic-style games, TLoS, and Skylanders) come together and celebrate the franchise's (and the character's) success and look toward the future with hope.
I have no clue what changes or additions they'll make going forward, whether that's including characters, mechanics, story arcs, and/or atmospheres from the reboots and post-Insomniac classics or something completely new and different, but the 3 pillars seem solid and reflect the Insomniac trilogy's - and heart of the franchise's - identity well! Very true. But, by saying this video won't age well, you are operating under the assumption that there isn't a Spyro 4 which means your comment may not age well.
For real, reignited looking back had a lot of obvious signs before it was announced while this is mainly just speculation with supposed plans but nothing really potentially being announced anytime soon.

The only clues I’ve seen are circumstantial at best, and make him sound like a conspiratorial crack pot at worst
Crash has very messy continuity after the first 3 games and the third ended in a way that wasn't originally resolved. Creating an alternate timeline following Warped made sense.
But with Spyro, there's no reason why they can't continue the original series from A Hero's Tail before it was rebooted. It's not like that game or Enter the Dragonfly created some huge lore-bending details that you'd need to know before playing a new Spyro game.
We've all been saying "Spyro 4" just to make it clearer what we're talking about, but it shouldn't even be called "Spyro 4", nor should it be "Spyro 6" or anything. It should just be a new Spyro game.

It doesn't matter at this point, but if I correctly remember, TLoS Eternal Night was about around 1mil sales. A little bit below that, than what your graph says.
As of the rest, I only hope they expand and build the lore from foundation that already exist, especially from Legend series. Like, explain a lot of plot holes that original ones had, because if they don't it would be a huge mistake in my opinion
I hope that the next Spyro game is an amazing open world game with the same feel of the trilogy but so much more improved. Maybe taking some elements from EtD and DotD.
Not to be the downer here, but do we think TFB going indie may have put a wrench in all of this? As much as I don’t want it to happen, as I’ve been going CRAZY just waiting and waiting for a new title, TFB splitting off from Microsoft & Activision has me very concerned about the process here
I would love if Toys for Bob would make a new Spyro 4 but at the same time i think Toys for Bob should try to remaster Spyro Enter The Dragonfly cause too me i thought it was really fun even though it had alot of bad glitches it didn't bug me cause i enjoy it still and it deserves a chance it never hurts to try Toys for Bob did a beautiful job on the original three Spyro games i have faith they would make it even better if they ever remaster it

@@aleksd286 yes. It came out in 2002 but everyone seems to have forgotten about it somehow.
It's Enter the Dragonfly. For me, ETD is and will forever be the true Spyro 4. Played it on GameCube (as well as the og trilogy in PS1), and it was actually really good, albeit somewhat glitchy at times. Besides the bugs and short length because it was rushed by the executives at Universal, it's actually a worthy successor to Year of the Dragon imo, and unlike what people say it was actually pretty innovative and added a bunch of cool new stuff that wasn't in the previous ones, even within its limited runtime.
PS2 version kinda sucks though. It has more graphical fidelity, but it's infinitely laggier and more glitchy. In my opinion, if you have the chance you should give it a try on GameCube/Wii/Dolphin Emulator.
If they do a brand new Spyro game, I'm gonna call it Spyro 7 no matter what even if it explicitly had "4" in the title.
Toys for Bob seems more of an evolution company. Makes me excited of the thought of how they handle remaking the first 2 Banjo games and making a new 3rd game going off from Banjo-Tooie. That game had a lot of backtracking related issues with a rushed final world Cauldron Keep that lacked a gameover cutscene. Now they're independent so now they have more potential freedom and control over their games with hopefully no more buggy launches. Them looking/remaking the originals can give them a great idea of what really worked and didn't to make a potentially very polished 3rd game. It's been a roller coaster ride for Toys for Bob lately.
6:16 "Colorful, dangerous universe" brought me back to a Good Blood video on Crash, where the games' whole vibe is described as "Beautiful sharp insanity".
Also, the open world thing reminds me of A Hero's Tail 😍 while I still think that AHT doesn't really need a remake, I do like many of its elements, and its style is actually very similar to Reignited. Though I still sorta feel that the portal mechanic is very iconic and should be kept in some way.
Here my idea, mine would a class as a Reboot but with a game that let fans of the pass have peace.
So before the Reboot there a game that crosses Spyro the platformer Games and characters, Spyro the Edger dark combat characters, and Spyro the Skylander and characters all together in a mash of worlds as what they been through is being deleted and replace by an Observer type character who unlike the rest want an universe that praises him and him alone. But want it big so plan to destroy these 3 universes and make one where these characters we know all look to him as a God, plan is to take Big bad Villain Dragons and control and frame to the other Observers that there at fault and he couldn’t intervene. Also his plan also separates each Spyro from most friends and allies, a few close friends stay near mainly Sparks(both of them), Hunter(both of them), Cynder(both of them) and some of the Skylanders of the other 6 elements(main one like stealth elf and trigger happy). But we play as each these characters crossing over with allies and foes they haven’t seen and take on there Dragon enemy, Dark Sorcerer Malefor, Purple Dragon Malefor, Undead King Malefor. Game ends with these Spyro(s) need there closes friends working with themselves to save them, and all 3 coming together even knowing they see there worlds and friends being destroyed stop the corrupted Observer and take him down. Even when the bad guy defeated the universes are gone but other Observers see what did happen and see 1 of them have done wrong, getting rid of him and rebuilding something new, 1 big new Universe for Spyro with people from all 3 series this time existing in 1, Spyro life will restart again with no memories but it’s better for him that way. Giving clean slate for a Reboot timeline with characters from any pass series.
The truth is that it would be epic if they made a new game that was in a semi-open world and was RPG style where there were different areas with different climates and environments and missions to complete with minibosses and bosses and that the areas were unlocked (it could be through doors or other things) and as you progress those areas would be unlocked
I imagine that if they orient it as a kind of RPG they could make a central city where the best-known characters can appear and from there move to the different areas, but with a fluid velocity; and always maintaining the essence of the original games
God, it really is just a continuous grift with new Spyro stuff, isn’t it? There must always be a carrot to chase to induce clicks.
Both enter the dragonfly and a hero's tail had larger more open ended levels, especially a hero's tail. I like a hero's tail a lot, not as good as the original trilogy so I understand why it got worse reviews, open ended like that which addresses a hero's tails flaws would be nice. Enter the dragonfly is awful, however the levels were a larger than in the original trilogy which was the most positive change that could have been great if the game was not rushed in development, and some of the levels are well designed but are held back by bad graphics design and chronic lag.
Id love a remake of the New Begining triology
TLOS only looks small because it was too good and the storytelling was too intricate for the critics to understand, and it only looks like it has a tiny fan base because Activision was going out of their way to starve us of content and even access . That’s what we need back. The OG Spyro had his time in the sun with Reignited, and now it’s our turn. If TLOS was given proper budgeting, and time, it could turn into something on par Lord of the rings.

I think enter ge dragonfly had the right idea. Yotd had just given us a whole bunch of baby dragons, so that is a story point we can build from, though i don't like how they did that mechanically. Giving him other elements was also a good move. In fact, it set the basis for the Legend series. Dragonfly's downfall was mostly execution, and within that mostly a ridiculous dev timeline.
Toys for bob does not own the copyright for Spyro or Crash

I DEFINITELY, 100% want Spyro 4 to be a direct and proper sequel to the original trilogy, and here's how I want it to play out: Ripto from Spyro 2 reprises his role as main villain in this game. It's revealed that he didn't die after his fight with Spyro, and is back for revenge-- with a brand new look: semi-burnt skin, new warlock clothes, and an even more powerful scepter. I don't know if Crush and Gulp should also make a comeback. The story begins where Year of the Dragon left off: Spyro, Sparx, Zoe, Hunter, and Bianca, along with the new friends/allies (Sheila, Sgt. Byrd, Bentley, and Agent 9) are looking after the baby dragons in the Dragon Realms. They're all having fun doing so, until Ripto arrives, causing mayhem and destruction with his brand new army of monsters! Ripto decided to copy Spyro and form a group of four evil monsters (he does this by either gathering them up naturally, or creating them with the magic of his new scepter.) This new army is intended to be a dark counterpart of Spyro and his four allies from YOTD. Ripto announces his evil plans to Spyro and his friends (it's a cross between the evil plans of the two main villains of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time: N. Tropy's plan from the climax of the game, and Cortex's plan from the falling action.) He intends to literally wipe dragons from existence by going back in time and altering the history of dragons. Moneybags return's to his sly and conniving ways from YOTD in this game as well, for Ripto has promised him a life of endless gems and luxury if he does Ripto's bidding. This game could also have a feature similar to Crash 4's Flashback Tapes: cutscenes that show Ripto's backstory and explain why he hates dragons so much.
The truth is we dont even know if they are working on it still. Very misleading to open the video saying you have spoken to the head, yes, years ago.

I think Toys for Bob is going to reboot the entire game series for both Spyro the Dragon and the Skylanders series because Spyro 4 is still going to happen and We’ll be playing as the skylanders via selecting one of them from the trilogy game.

Your video is exactly what I want to here about a sequel of Spyro! I have always wanted a continuation of Year of The Dragon. Two things I would like to add to the Tone, Gameplay & World vision they have for there games. Is (character development & continuity) Not just for Spyro but the other characters as well. I honestly do think making a more open exploration for what Spyro 4 could be, does sound like a great idea and something I personally would love since I love games that encourage exploration and experimentation which I liked doing since playing through Spyro and Crash games to death growing up on the PlayStation consoles.
As far as plot goes I think Spyro dealing with a personal journey where he finds out about his origins on where he came from on top of being a time skip where it's been many moons since Spyro was on his last adventure during the events of Year of the Dragon and things have gotten quiet and the Purple Boy has been seeking out another adventure in some way or form and found it, thus facing his origins and such, making a personal journey and also a fun one at that.
I wouldn't be against the idea of extra playable characters like in Spyro 3 on the condition they are all some form of Platforming that's fun to play as that wouldn't have the same problems that Spyro 3 had, looking at you Agent 9.
Interesting if TFB can do a partnership with Microsoft and can also do the same thing they did with Crash Bandicoot 4 It's About Time with the same exact Tone, Gameplay, Worlds formula along with the target demographic of 25-35 to have this game as a direct sequel to the original Spyro Trilogy for the core Spyro original trilogy Audience. I think we're going to get a Direct Sequel to Spyro original trilogy in time with the Amplification and Multiplication like they did with Crash Bandicoot 4 It's About Time.
I think if they made a new Spyro game, they could call it “Spyro’s Adventure” and then make the setting a land in the sky. That would be really cool.

an open world spyro game would be amazing, But i also want them to revise the other spyro games as well, A new beginning, Dawn of the dragon, I loved all of the games. personally. It felt like I was experiencing the evolution of spyro's life. From early care free child to growing up and taking greater responsibilities, even becoming the hero of everyone and everything. We wern't just given a hero and learn about them as we went along we played and experience his entire life. To me that seemed pretty amazing. No matter what they choose though i'll be here for whatever spyro games come out, hugging my little spyro plushie along the way.

With LOS I feel like its just and "older "Spyro with bigger challenges and actually seeing his growth❤ I honestly would love to see them touched up Or a sequel to them too❤ Love the purple in all trilogies but I grew up on the original ones they'll both be my faves of all games💜

Something to bring up about the age demographic of people who are interested in Spyro, is that many of them likely have children who are about the same age as they were when they played Spyro.
And said children are not interested in Spyro.
An open world game, in my opinion, would best suit a Legend of Spyro remake/sequel. While the first two were very linear like the ogs, DotD opened it up a bit more, and while not technically open world, it was as close as we were going to get. For the reignited series, if it ain't broke, don’t fix it.

I'm 23, so I grew up with some '90s-early 2000s TV show reruns, VHS tapes, and some old-school home game consoles. I was given Spyro 3 first because my neighbor's brother had outgrown it, so I played the trilogy backwards because I wanted more, lol.
I'm curious of wither or not Spyro 4 Return of the Dragons or sequel. Now I'm curious of what Crash bandicoot even spinoff with involving Nina Cortex or Crush bandicoot even crunch bandicoot.

I'm unfortunately not convinced there's even going to BE a fourth game, especially considering Toys for Bob is indie now. I'm still waiting for a reason to think one is even coming. I'm sure part of me is just a pessimist, but still.
*puts my hands together* please just give us fans that have been waiting for a true Spyro 4 since Enter The Dragonfly crushed it. We all want it, and need it at this point. Thank goodness I'm a Sonic fan too because Sega has been tossing them fans some good content over the few years. How ever, I really would love to have a new Spyro title game in my hands, and to experience a new world and possible new friends, and powers/moves. Really would love it, if they took a slight note from the 3rd game of Legend of Spyro. I enjoyed even though it was very limited at the end of the game flying around the main hub world as Spyro. I would love for that to be a thing to unlock or goal towards by the end of this possible new game.
I'd say make a sequel but don't make any statements of 'alternate timeline' like they did with Crash 4 early on, which defeats the point of NOT making it a reboot so as to not alienate part of the fanbase (same for other aspects like making it too stupidly difficult, not every 20-35 year old loves self torturing themselves with their video games. :P).
Also TFB at least made Reignited so their style and format would at least mesh together compared to their Crash games against the two versions of the trilogy. I always felt like they would have been better making a self contained sequel for Crash like the other developers done, but with Spyro they could get away with it since they already worked the remake.
I wish they would do Dawn of the Dragon remake and make it spruced up and worth playing...it has a good story line I just wished it played better...that would look soo good today if anybody could remake and tweak it...
That said. Dawn of the dragon was a worthy execution of a new idea. Armor and free flying? Exactly like Legend of the Guardians, and very much loved it. With latter being so much newer it had better graphics and flying.
And at least A hero's Tail had the attempts of being a Spyro feeling game.

My opinion Spyro 4 plus 2 other games either more sequels or like Spyro Return to Midnight Mountain a game and Spyro Goes to Adventure
I never felt like crash 4 was an actual sequel. The power crystals were removed and replaced with challenges that feel like they were inspired by gotcha Mobile games.
I think now that they went indie its time to give up for a while on Spyro 4 unfortunately
I sure pray that is not a reboot or remake. We've already had them before so that would make it a remake of a remade. They have to break that circle, take Star Fox for example where it got stuck on the same spot with its remake and reboot over and over and I grew tired of it. So I really recommend Spyro 4 is a go. If they need ideas, they got us the fan community whose forums are easy to access. I personally liked your idea of direction that you made in a video before because it really covers plot holes from Spyro 2 and 3
PErsonally I would love to see The Legend of Spyro returning with Cynder since that was in my opinion one of the best spyro games
I just want something with the aesthetic of the original and reignited. With the lore and less edgyness of the new beginning trilogy. Please give an open world, and plase give access to flight. No stamina. Let it be a natural part of that exploration. More than just gliding
Crash team rumble currently has a old badge bonanza event running for 4 days, so i dont know if that means the missing skins could appear later on? Is there hope for rumble content

Would like to see Legendary Spyro beat em' up game elements in the new games but I'd be fine with an improvement on the original trilogy
If they can capture the Trilogy tone, gameplay and world and elevate it, Spyro 4 will be huge!

I just hope the story is good, the original games kind of left me a bit lost on the main story of spyro himself, also why is there no other dragons spyro's age or were be the female dragons. there is a lot to be answered and i hope we get those answers if Spyro 4 does come to light.
