One of my all time favorite albums. Rediscovered Iron & Wine today. Isn't it funny how one stays away from beloved bands and songs for so long that they are almost forgotten? But then when the tune comes on and you just start singing along...
Some music comes into your life... and never leaves. It does not resemble a period of your life, or a precious memory... It simply is a part of your life, all of it, and leads you along as you live it.
Weird but then not weird that this is the top comment besides the tracklist. I came back to this album after not listening to it for 12 years because the memory of the first time I listened to it was so vivid.
Nah I literally have this album attached to a specific period of my life and come back to it to feel memories and a nostalgia for that time. And it is a kick ass album; grateful it became part of the unintentional soundtrack of that part of my life. But I haven't listened to any iron and wine for years. It's, uh, subjective, ya know...
@@iuseitToo I agree that it can be this way. I was speaking about myself... But in a way about this too, how people come back after a long time and they still feel the feels. And can transport themselves through time to some moment. And connect that day with today. However... It's just really beautiful to read all these comments about people's lives
I had to listen to this a few times before it started to grow on me. But the best music tends to be that way. Music we love at the first listen usually becomes tiring very quickly.
Definitely cannot agree with the second line. Music I love immediately I regularly revisit and have never lost interest in for the rest of my life so far...
this album is the anecdote to a go-go-go world of crazy non-stop action, and it's exactly what i needed today. love the nostalgic vocals and the soothing instrumentals.
I was hoping this was gonna be a Heavier band because of the line of Progressive Metal songs I was listening..... Nevermind because this a very relaxing album, very emotive! Loving it
I remember listening to this album for the first time in fall 2013. The songs that amazed me the most were Pagan Angel, Lovesong of the Buzzard, The Devil Never Sleeps and House by the Sea. _Around the house by the sea_ _The scent of roses and raspberry leaves_ _And there is smoke in my clothes_ _Too much time with just smoke in my nose_
I remember dating the prettiest girl in the world, riding a bike down a sunny road, listening to this with her. This and that Kid Cudi album was pretty much the end of true happiness, as sad as that sounds. Those times were just so good. 2010-2012 was gang tho
So hard to pick a favorite off of the Shepherd's Dog. Carousel is probably not the best...but it is so, so good!! It's the point when Sam Beam makes it clear that he is going to break you with this album.
I don't think it is random. It works too well to be random. They probably monitor all the tracks we listen to and analyse them by keywords and maybe even the song itself for patterns as rythm and instruments and so on. Then some smart algorithm suggests just what could fit into the stuff we heard befor and presents it to us. I am not sure if I like it to be fed like a sheep, but it surely is comfortable.
In the failing light of the afternoon Lucy in the shade of the dogwood blooms Yesterday the solace of a poison fish Tomorrow I'll be kissing on her blood red lips No one is the savior they would like to be The love song of the buzzard in the dogwood tree With a train of horses laughing through the traffic line And the cradle's unimaginative sense of time Springtime and the promise of an open fist A tattoo of a flower on a broken wrist Lucy tells me jokingly to wipe her brow With a pocket map to heaven and the sun goes down
This album was one of five that got stuck in my car when my cd player died. I want it back so bad but I have no idea how to get it without scratching it
Sometimes cd players have "safety holes", try that. ruclips.net/video/2ScSLW2QxD4/видео.html Here's a video of a person opening a computer's cd player using it.
this is really lovely. tripping on mushrooms right now. found this through a reddit thread, really great suggestion. my heart feels full. I hope everyone is feeling a little love while listening to this.
Said the plain clothes cop to the beauty queen "Ive seen nothing but a spoke in a wheel" So she gave up her crown to a kid with a crutch And they both felt cheated after closing the deal And the white tooth man, I ran with him Got all cut up from pissing out in the weeds And a fight upstate with a broken blade And a wife whose finger never wanted a ring Said the plain clothes cop to the Indian chief "I've made nothing but an honest mistake" The postman cried while reading the mail And we all got trampled in the Christmas parade And the white tooth man who sold me a gun A map of Canaan and a government bond Said, "I love this town, but it ain't the same" The ski mask ripped as he was putting it on Said the plain clothes cop to the holy ghost "I've heard nothing if it wasn't the wind" And we all got sick on a strip club meal While the statehouse was frying all the witches again So the white tooth man with his kids in the car And a wad of money that was already spent Said, "I love my dog but she just ran away She'll keep running like the world never ends

Hello have you heard about @polsenseth debut single? It’s called “Organic” 🐌 he started working in this project about five years ago and he said it’s one of the most beautiful thing he has ever done. Please check for: Seth Polsen - Organic on RUclips to watch the premiere today. Also available on Apple Music and very very soon on Spotify.
You may be right, as this album definitely has a more experimental sound to it, but I'd say they're equally good-- "Cinder and Smoke" and "Each Coming Night" of OEND were comparatively simple yet the lyrics were surprisingly poetic and carried more meaning than initially listening to it would reveal. It just depends on what you're looking for.
Found this buried in my watch later from forever ago, don't remember adding it.
Like a gift to myself from the past, fantastic.

Fantastic. Rare to hear great melodic and rhythmic sensibility in equal measure.
This music grooves with the back of my head and makes me forget my troubles.

I too found this while trippin, way back in '08 lol time flies
this works amazing as backround music while drawing
Said the plain clothes cop to the beauty queen
"Ive seen nothing but a spoke in a wheel"
So she gave up her crown to a kid with a crutch
And they both felt cheated after closing the deal
And the white tooth man, I ran with him
Got all cut up from pissing out in the weeds
And a fight upstate with a broken blade
And a wife whose finger never wanted a ring
Said the plain clothes cop to the Indian chief
"I've made nothing but an honest mistake"
The postman cried while reading the mail
And we all got trampled in the Christmas parade
And the white tooth man who sold me a gun
A map of Canaan and a government bond
Said, "I love this town, but it ain't the same"
The ski mask ripped as he was putting it on
Said the plain clothes cop to the holy ghost
"I've heard nothing if it wasn't the wind"
And we all got sick on a strip club meal
While the statehouse was frying all the witches again
So the white tooth man with his kids in the car
And a wad of money that was already spent
Said, "I love my dog but she just ran away
She'll keep running like the world never ends
Some of the best lyrics ever written
have we lost our mind??

The good kind. But if you're being picky you could classify this as indie folk with a bit of experimental flair thrown in there.
