I listened to this entire album here, enjoyed it, and then bought a physical copy. Just reaffirming SubPop's decision to stream their albums for free. Keep blastin out those gems you rusty old diamond mine.
Sayfoo Foosay Me too, I like fear fun equally, maybe more. The cd case for ily, honeybear is worth buying by itself. Amazing pop-up art and, in addition to lyrics, a hilarious and thoughtful booklet called Exercises for Listening.
It's the future of how band labels should release albums. We need a sample to chew on. I just bought two Robin Guthrie albums after hearing a few tracks on RUclips.

I'm going to buy this album and listen to it in the middle of the Canadian wilderness with a bottle of whiskey and my friends, all around a roaring fire.
+D. Robinson I really liked Fear Fun a lot. So I was excited for this and really wanted to like it. Honey Bear is unbearable. The rest is kinda boring. Gonna give it more tries than the 3 times I have listened so far but i might need more than whiskey.
@@Bryan-ce6bo If you think this has “cringe” lyrics - wow… I assume irony, subtlety, self aware - over the top characterization and every other poetic device just leave you winded huh? Sheesh. Imagine traversing through life and having most art just go over your head. Keep gaming, simpleton.
For Jamie K. We were friends for a long time, worked together for years, reconnected later and life and spent one night together. Fast forward to our 30s, we reconnected again and ended up becoming partners. I would always listen to this song because I would have to see you only on the weekends because you lived in Jersey and I lived in Philly. When can we talk, with the face, instead of using all these strange devices? I miss you. I wish I could go back and just tell you we should just be friends. I miss that more than anything. Take care of yourself.
It was a grey Sunday morning, I was driving, at 7:00am to my new shitty job, and than, "I Love You, Honeybear" was played on the radio (106fm, Tel-Aviv Campus). And damn. the only moment which i would like to remember from that day. may everything bless you Father John Macy.
reading the different lyrics that people feel most fervently about, it really shows his talent. Each song has their own individual life, and story to tell. But it all ties to a feeling we can all call bliss. I love that
How is it that, at 51 years old and jaded and a skeptic and bored and contemptuous of new music, I keep getting deeper into Father John's stuff and it just keeps getting better and better? Amazing, just amazing. Lots of this album take me back to a very, very special time in my life. Painful but I wouldn't trade it. In a world of plastic dance music SOMEONE has to be honest. Here's the guy.
Where has Father John Misty been all my life. Ever since I was introduced to his music earlier this year, I just can't stop listening to all his albums. Thank you.
A good friend suggested a good link, I listened, and halfway already, I was looking forward to listening again and hastily followed up with ordering a physical record. Thank you!
My Boyfriend lives 421 miles away and he bought this on vinyl and talked about how good it was, I listened and now I hear his voice I love him so much I cry
Been a fan of Father John Misty for a couple of years now. Great music! And thanks to Sub pop for the streamings. I've discovered so many wonderful artists thanks to you. Greets from Chile!
Thanks for the great tunes. I just heard about Father John Misty through associations with Conor Oberst & Jonathan Wilson. I can't buy the album now since I am currently serving in Peace Corps out here in Albania, but will surely do so when I get back to the US! It's so nice that Sub Pop makes albums available on RUclips! Sending love and props from Eastern Europe.
Grahame Green when I saw him live and he played this song, I forgot about the dubbed laughter and legitimately thought people were laughing behind me and I had to turn around lol
Unexpected in all the most wonderful of ways... This album is pure Bliss! 💓 Brilliant lyrics, stunning vocals, and amazingly beautiful music. Thanks so much for sharing!
I occasionally wonder if I can learn to love others again... This album doesn't answer any questions, but I think I know now some of the questions I should be asking. Thanks, FMJ, you've been a huge help, whether you intended to or not. You're a gem and you just don't know it.
All his work is great.I like his work with Fleet Foxes. But his solo material blows my mind.I grew up listening to many singer songwriters of the 60s and 70s thanks to my father.I was a little late a 79 baby. But i have something in my time with true vision of whats happening now in our time.Thank You Joshua Tillman!!!!!
Check out videos of him playing it live, the string section is more prominent and just makes the song fucking excellent. I didn't like True Affection at first and it really grew on me.
This is the best thing i have ever heard. From start to Finish. It takes you to a completely different place when you close your eyes and listen to this.
I can't believe it's taken me til now to discover FJM... they're so amazing I can't understand why this isn't played on our radio stations instead of the garbage that is played on (the vast majority of) FM these days.
It’s really cool the fact that each person I shown this album to, they randomly call me honey bear. Must have been like 10 different people! Someone just called me that today. Makes me proud to spread this joy around❤
David Hoggan Absolutely, that's totally who I heard from minute one. Like the Mull Historical comparison too, but don't hear any Sufjan Stevens..........guess we all hear things differently eh.
+derek Mckenzie If you liked this, I suggest Fleet Foxes (as I'm kinda pretty somewhat sure that he was actually a drummer for the group when they were together), Sufjan Stevens for a varied sort of tone and composing, Iron and Wine for more solemn stuff, and if you want to go old school, you may like when Bob Dylan turned electric (Highway 67 Revisited).
This album is amazing! It was awesome to hear the complete album on line first, before purchasing. I have a hard copy on the way! Seriously, I can't stop listening to it. What a great songwriter. Beautiful!
I got this when it came out and I wasn't really feeling it, but I tried it again a few weeks ago and this shit hit me like a brick. Probably the best singer/songwriter album I've heard in years. Second favorite album of the year behind Kendrick's
+Jeff Penn TPAB is amazing. I agree that this album is another front runner for my AOTY. I would also include Foals' new album "What Went Down", The Dear Hunter's new album "Act IV: Reprise and Rebirth", and Sufjan Stevens' "Carrie and Lowell" on that list. Amazing year for music.
Thanks for keeping it real Father John Misty and Sub Pop records. I've been so fortunate to receive this album via Vinyl Me Please. Working it's way to be my summer 2015 album. In the top 5 for sure. Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing...
Fucking love the guy! Been listening to him for about 4 years now & I would say he's been the pearl of the 30 or 40 new artists I've listened to in that time. Just hope he makes it to tour in the UK soon!
I saw a cute pink vinyl at my local barns and Nobel and when I pulled it up I was shocked to see honey bear, didn't even own a record player and I bought it right there.
wow! this is the coolest album in years that I've heard! I'm practically speechless..... So good! Wow just wow! Remarkable depth to this desire
I'm really enjoying my first experience right now
This hit me like a brick.
I was driving home from the record store with my buddy and he found the instruction book inside and we were dying laughing doing mad libs n shit
From someone who just listened to the entire album for the first time... Holy Shit
Best line:
You left a note in your perfect script: "Stay as long as you want"
I haven’t left your bed since
Love it!!! :D
there's Many lines like that in this album, his wife is truely beautiful!
I love the double meaning of script here
In what song?
I love too. The whole bridge in fact is one of the greatest I’ve ever heard.
He was your pillow yes.
The quarantine has added a brand new layer of meaning to true affection.

VMP and SUB POP are the real MVP

Lunatic Prodigy +nsablue8 that is such a true statement
Sub Pop if you build it, they will come. if the music is amazing, the people will pay for it. this is genius subpop well done.
One of the most beautiful albums I've ever heard. Tillman's exceptionally honest lyrics and ambitious arrangements are inspiring to me.
I Listen to this Album all day while I am working. I work about 8hrs a day, 5 days a week. I listen to this album about 88 times a week...
2nd day here and I'm not even bothering counting. The only times not listening to this album being at meetings I had to attend earlier today..
I'm going to buy this album and listen to it in the middle of the Canadian wilderness with a bottle of whiskey and my friends, all around a roaring fire.
be my friend.
+Adrian Pieroni we do the same thing in Georgia, USA and its always a good time best of times my friend
***** you're not happy
+Adrian Pieroni I heard one song, Honey Bear. I'd have to be drunk to hear the rest. Pretentious caterwauling IMO.
+D. Robinson I really liked Fear Fun a lot. So I was excited for this and really wanted to like it. Honey Bear is unbearable. The rest is kinda boring. Gonna give it more tries than the 3 times I have listened so far but i might need more than whiskey.
I just love the kind of woman who can walk over a man, I mean like a godamn marching band. That hits me every time
This album is a masterpiece. Every song, every chord, every note, every word are amazing.
"I love you as you are when you're alone" that's so important omg
it took me about 7 years of ignoring this release... but here i am, loving this album to the fullest.
Long may you run, J. Tillman...
You never cease to amaze me.
Listened to this on LSD but slowed down the lyrics, probably the most beautiful thing I have ever listened to.
Without It still a fascinant album
Dear Chance the rapper, here is how you dedicate an entire record to your wife that sounds amazing and doesn't have cringe lyrics.
Oh this has cringe lyrics alright
@@Bryan-ce6bo But not cringy throughout the album
Truth…

the only moment which i would like to remember from that day.
may everything bless you Father John Macy.
When You’re Smiling and Astride Me - Ohoohhohhh-mygod what a song. Making me weep
"seen you around, whats your name?" *bursts into tears*
i went to the store one day
+Parking Curb (ParkingCurb) RIGHT!!??! lmao
me too Fuck
With a single line, Josh takes us back to that very moment of hopefulness and naivety that gave rise to everything.
so glad to see someone who felt the exact same way :,)
it seems to me that his album is rather good. I shall buy it.
very good choice sir
Neil Griffiths buy pure comedy too. It's different but in my eyes equally as good.
reading the different lyrics that people feel most fervently about, it really shows his talent. Each song has their own individual life, and story to tell. But it all ties to a feeling we can all call bliss. I love that
just got into this artist sooooo good!!! im seven months pregnant and every time i play this i can feel her move around way more...love!
Quarantined in NY and this is the album I’m going out to if it ever comes to that. Been listening to this album on repeat for about a week now.

This is just one of those albums that you find and hold onto
I swear that those were 45 of the shortest minutes of my life. I never wanted this album to end.
Just beautiful.
can't wait to wither and die out in the sun to the beat of this album repeated over and over until the cats start clawing at my baked corpse
Don't we all?
so edgy
If this was your tinder profile, I'd swipe right. Maybe even up, if you caught me in a good mood.
this album is so lovely. Track 5 gives me some chills
Thank you for putting the full album up! Two complete listens in 12hrs and now I am buying it on iTunes. What a soul-quieting sound this man has.
Just bought my hard copy after listening to this feed about 15 times. Thank you Subpop. FJM is my new favorite artist without a doubt,.

I love the humor in the lyrics
Absolutely, never mind the dubbed laughter in 'Bored'. And what a voice! This and Radical Face as peers... We are lucky eh?
I thought that was a genius addition actually, like the sitcom scene in Natural Born Killers
Grahame Green when I saw him live and he played this song, I forgot about the dubbed laughter and legitimately thought people were laughing behind me and I had to turn around lol

This is hands down the best album I've heard in several years. I like every song on it. A very rare thing in this day and age.
This album has such a 60s/70's vibe to it. It feels like I'm listening to a collaboration album by Elton John and The Beatles. Great Album!
This album makes me think about my ex. Trying to reclaim this album and separate the two so I can continue enjoying it. An absolutely beautiful album.
The Ideal Husband. what a banger.
I agree with both the capitalized and uncaptialized versions of this statement
