Respect to anyone here listening. Feeling good right now, i love Father Bong Misty.
Water Bong Spliff me
You mean, Future Left Testy. I love him, as well.
i don't see him as a singer, he's definitely a cult leader. one I'd follow.
I already drank his kool-aid...
Right on.
White Jesus
Amen
He’s the Rasputin of indie

What a set and what a performance by this amazing genius!
it's a comment why would you expect likes?
RomanSkate if it has many likes it stays on top. I dont expect likes but since I had the trouble to time mark the songs for everyone's use I would rather see my comment not fade away in the comment section... chill bro

This version of "Nothing Good Ever Happens At The Goddamn Thirsty Crow" is fucking incredible
Definitely the definitive version of Thirsty Crow. Unreal.
Nothing quite like Farmer John Misery
these snausages taste like helpless exasperation
I was at this show, second row, and after FJM says "don't you wish the internet was here, right now" you can hear me yell "It's in your heart!" and then FJM is like "this next song is called the internet is in my heart."
Happens at 1:11:05 for anyone wondering
Holy fuck, I was watching the video, scrolled to the comments, and I read this comment as soon as the part happened in the video.
Devin McAndrew-Greiner thats fuckin awesome!!!
You're a hero!
Great set. This album put a shit year into much needed perspective for me, helped me discover a true artist, and made me dance by the stereo a bit. You can’t ask for more than that really.
great for you dude, really get what you saying
Just wait until 2020
yeah, listening jan 2021 rn. How you doing now?
@@ryleuty golden years go splat
Listening in mid 2022. LoL. Bet y'all loved the last couple years
love Papa John Frito
I swear this guys on another level
10 months later, and this show is Haunting. The joy of being able to listen to it on a Rainy Saturday is real.
even more so, years later, during the waning of the pandemic
This is literally the best video I've ever watched. I love Josh, he's such a talent
It's such a small detail, but the way he pulls the mic off its stand at 3:57 and starts pacing like a comedian adds so much to that opening performance of Pure Comedy.
36:04 is also one of my favorite small details about this performance! Throws the guitar away, rips the mic from the stand and gives it his all!
1:07:57 - I love that the audience joins in to do to the laughing and applause at this point of the song. Just gives this vibes of everyone working together for the effect :)
Yeah that’s actually crazy
Don't panic everybody. Everything's gonna be ok.
I hate to say it, but eachothers all we've got 🖤
Everything was not ok😂😂
The more I see and listen to thy Father John Misty the more I endorse his methodology and talents, so don't ever stop, nor become discouraged, continue to persist without giving up and thy shall succeed.
All of his shows look amazing but this one takes the cake, he's so great here!
Gavin Drake powerful performance
And to think he is a drummer
I don't know, his show at Cains was pretty stellar. Just that tiny venue with him was amazing
he doesn't normally have this gorgeous orchestra section with him, does he?
What a fantastic concert!
Arthur Dent I think it's a new addition for this album and tour but he's always had a stacked, talented band when playing on the road
The end of Ballad of The Dying Man gives me the chills
That Bridge Though!
FJM (Tillman) is like the Dostoyevski of pop music! He's a bit overwhelming, and he asks a lot from the listener, but there are some Transcendent moments here - especially the extended version of "Birdie"! The arrangements are incredibly nuanced, and his Musicians are TIGHT! Obviously - Josh is a Task Master! Something this expansive and ambitious could only come out of a Hyper-active, Manic Brain! It's one thing to have a Vision, and quite another to manifest it to this degree! RESPECT!!!
You're so on point with that comment
--sky,
well said, all with a legendary voice
Agreed. In this way he is an actual inspiration. He was brave enough to go there...and it's a wonderful view
this is the 2nd best RUclips comment about FJM
Good god he’s amazing live. That Pure Comedy performance sounded exactly like the studio/album version! Incredible.
His time as J Tillman perfected his timing and understanding. Any fan of FJM should check those albums out
the sound quality on this is crazy good. try listening to it on headphones.
Doing that right now!
@@kdarko88 me too .. awesome!
Am I the only one who still gets chills at the crescendo at the end of Ballad of a Dying Man? My god, FJM killed it in this performance.
Facebook John Myspace at his wacky antics again. Can't wait to see him in Toronto this summer.
LeroyBrown93 best one yet
Sumbitch! this guy really lays the wood on humanity
Underrated comment 👆
love the bassist here, much clearer than in the album
maybe too clear
His energy is so infectious
this set hits so good during the pandemic/impending apocalypse
OMG I love Faster Jay Mystery!
This live performance is one of the reasons I invested in a nice pair of Sennheiser's.
Like "Live At The House" is the definitive National live set, this is the definitive Father John Misty live set
Alex Grichmanoff It needs The night Josh Tillman came.... to be considered the definitive set.
That and ideal husband. If I'm being honest there isn't a father john Misty song I'd hate if it had be done like this. The version of Hollywood forever is fucking novelty. It's like father john covering Josh Tillman or is the other way around. His version of honeybear brought me to sobbing. Something about the way he says "one more time," and let's out that orgasmic scream yet again. It's like this guy keeps getting better with age. Honey bear topped fear fun, pure comedy pretty much consolidated everything, and now father john mofo wants to give me a heart attack with yet another album. I can't imagine him getting better than this. It's too much. Lol I'm totally joshing Josh. Haha I can't wait for the new album to drop. I've been on a Misty kick for days now.
HammerToof Too bad he'll never play that song again live like he's said in many interviews and to a concert goer when they requested it at one of his shows.
@@HammerToof and "I Went To The Store One Day"
I wish I can see Papa John Fist Me live but I don't think it'll ever be possible :(
why not?
Oh god now i’m wet.
For real though, why not? His shows aren’t that expensive and they are TOTALLY worth a drive.
@@Sound8VisionVibe because the chance of him coming to my country is pretty fucking low, and even then, I'm a student with low income so I won't be able to go out of my way to his concert if I wanted to.
Best rendition of Nancy out there. Good God
I like when he drives his voice when he sings “oh it’s something that a madman would conceive”. He should do that more 😀
This was my little daughter's first gig experience. She said: father, it was great.
That's awesome.
I've seen my fair share of concerts, but Father John, whom I've seen twice, is by far both my favorite shows ever.
Gosh, I really intuitively believe "Father John Misty" possesses incredibly unique and fantastic singing potential; and I truly do wish him the very, very best. (He doesn't know yet, but his postentials are absolutely unlimited; just wait, you'll someday see. God bless this singer and intertainer, give him the outstanding recording needed to bolster his incredible rise into fame and fortune. I'm not a very religious, nor spiritual soul but I 'd risk it all on this wonderfully blessed individual. Don't ever give up or even slow down. You'll find what is missing soon!!! God bless you! Richard D. Gaither, B.S., D.M.D.
I want this so much to be a live album. It's gorgeous.
On vinyl 😮💨
This guy's material so exceptional it literally moves me to tears thanks thanks man everyone that's been involved in any of these recordings
Wow. Portions of that concert were absolutely unfathomably mind blowing.
i watched the first half of this video during Pure Comedy era and another half during God's Favorite Customer era. Imagine how long this live performance is. lols
I got lucky enough to see him tour this album twice in 2017, one of the best gigs I’ve ever seen in my life, hope anyone reading years down the line loves it just as much ❤
My word what an amazing set! One fantastic version after another, especially Thirsty Crow is mindblowing.
Absolutely love the orchestra accompaniment.
This live rendition of Birdie is transcendent and mindblowing.
Thx again Pitchfork! I always support you guys~!
Wow this performance was stellar! Bravo!
Goddamn pitchfork uploads the best sets in terms of camera work and audio quality. Top notch stuff
This man is so ahead of our time.
Best song ever 28:25 -- Strange Encounter
Hollywood Forever... is just beautiful! Amazing
Misty is the *definition of cool* in my book! His demeanor and style as he sang Pure Comedy was just screaming his passion!
In Twenty years or so... Oh man, takes me to another dimension...
Hollywood forever... was EPIC. The lights, the tightness
Out of the question gorgeous. Everything. I could faint away.
I feel so lucky to have been a part of this audience and to continue to experience it with this recording. Papa John signed my first paystub (all I had on me) and spent ten minutes talking to the crowd after the show. Once in a lifetime performance.
Simply outstanding!👏
Oh my god, this is phenomenal
him dancing to true affection is such a mood
Saw him live a few weeks ago. SO fucking Heavenly
Fabulous....absolutely fabulous!
This is the best Father Josh show on RUclips
Lucky to be at this show. One of my top 5 concerts.
Miss the show in Paris (sold out!). Get my revenge on that one, good shooting, nice mix. The tracklisting is just perfect and FJM looks just what I expected him to be: friendly, humourous, deep and bittersweet. Thank you Pitchfork, god bless the internet!
Every time I listen to I love you Honeybear I cry. He perfomed this song with so sentiment.
He has an amazing voice and mind
Uno de los mejores videos en todo RUclips.
When i mess up my eyeliner and I already did all my makeup : 1:07:49
this is gold!
This is pure.
1:23:40 . Best second of the whole show. When when the underlying patterns of music align with human expression.
He's so amazing.
This performance is legendary 😜👏🏼🧡!
this is beautiful
took me awhile to realize but during Bored in the USA i realized this is the same venue where Bo Burnham's Make Happy was filmed and knowing that makes me want to cry. hearing the laugh track in Bored in the USA... these two are on the same level
So brilliant.
The "Ok..." in TIWHBHTKBTR is so funny.
Spectacular.
Holy Shit is such a great closer
Boy I love Further Jock Crispy
Magnífico.. !
that performance of when you’re smiling and astride me ..
Oh my beating heart. ♥️
Looking forward to seeing him live at the Piece Hall on Saturday night 26th May in Halifax, Yorkshire, England.
Pure class
Amazing set, I've listened to the whole thing I don't know how many times! Best version of Smiling and Astride Me?
I find it comforting that Josh’s mannerisms during Strange Encounter are exactly what I do when I listen to the song lol 29:52
I luv you Josh Tillman 😊
When the audience actually laughed during "Bored on the USA" :')))
Incredible
mr tillman sang his heart out for us in Santa Barbara
I saw him at ACL and he was amazing
The bass player tho
YES
Right?!
Love that humor father John
so here is the thing, i really have to pee. But I am unwilling to do so because I am enjoying this so much. thanks daddy aka Mr. Tillman
I love the audience participating in Bored In The USA
Fire, pure radiant flame, this version of "Nothing Good Ever Happens at the Goddamn Thirsty Crow". Electricity, goodness me.
wish I could buy this thing on DVD, I'd drop cash money.
Just download this video lol
He is the new Jesus of Pop & Rockmusic and he is damned good!
I'm going to die if I don't see this guy play before I die
Masterpiece
I was there!
