My friend Taylor loved playing this album at work. Usually he was listening to country and singing at the top of his lungs. I hated it. But man I miss it. And I wish I could walk in hearing this album playing knowing that he was there. Taylor was killed in a car accident about a week ago. I went through a lot to try and find this album and I am so happy I finally did. I cried as soon as I heard the first note. I can still hear him singing along. RIP Taylor. We miss you dearly.
Sorry to hear that.. Poor boy, I’m sure he’s in a better place.. This album was playing the day I chugged an entire bottle of Smirnoff vodka in the shower when I was like 16 on the swim team cuz I didn’t know that I had a limit haha and I showed up at one of the team meetings so drunk that I blacked out and apparently projectile vomited everywhere and cussed one of my teachers out and apparently told this one girl she had really nice boobs. And one of my friends drove me home before supposedly the cops came haha. I was the swim captain and they kicked me off the team and I just went to online school after that🐬🐬
I first heard this album when I was on a burn run and was really stoned. I remember the music took me to the most peaceful place I have ever been in my life. Even sober this mans voice is just like sex to my ears. Will forever be apart of me and my college experience.
I am a fan of alternative rock, grunge, hard rock, but FJM, but FJM, but FJM... I just can't believe it is so gorgeous, amazing, beautiful, lovely, pure. Truly amazing. Masterpiece.

From the first moment I listened to this album while tripping, the particular lyric that seemed most relevant was "we should let this dead guy sleep" love it.

Yeah, there's something resembling there, yet different. I'm almost positive he left because he wanted to make something of his own. Either way I just love it.
ever since I started listening to FJM I can't listen to anything else. I'm so grateful for his music. can you imagine if he stayed a drummer in Fleet Foxes? Imagine how many other geniuses are out there not putting their work out there. God, I can't wait for the next album.
I love the guitar pieces in here come sally hatchet i hear george harrison influences all over it!!!!This whole album is master work of a brilliant musician!!!Yes oh Yes.Joshua i love all your work.
+FRIED CHICKEN agree with you. The more I listen to the new album i feel my opinion change. I love the "country/folk" style on this album so much.....I just like the overall theme of the new album better.
Picked the album up at the music shop on a whim because of the incredible album art. In this case I am glad I "judged a book by it's cover", my favorite impulse buy to date.
Saw FJM at the Wiltern while visiting L.A. recently. WOW. What a show. I had been listening to Fear Fun a little bit here and there, but his live show was really eye opening. Very talented and very funny. Reminded me of a very sober Jim Morrison jumping around on stage.
First song I heard was “Holy Shiet” & it was one of the most uniquely painfully beautiful songs I’d ever heard. Listening to this album in its entirety; this individual is one of the best musicians I’d ever heard, regardless of genre or year
Drove across i-40 from NC to California in a beat up VW van and when we finally got to the highway between LA and Santa Barbara this was the album that we rejoiced with. No A/C, 58 MPH tops, best summer of my life.
Whoa what sounds. Feeling like I'm stepping through the door into a radically different chapter listening to this album...maybe a better description is I feel like I'm about to fall down a whole new rabbithole than the one I've been in for a while
On how the album came about Tillman said: "I got into my van with enough mushrooms to choke a horse and started driving down the coast with nowhere to go. After a few weeks, I was writing a novel, which is where I finally found my narrative voice
such a pleasant surprise to pick this record up and see that the record itself was pink, very much in the way the record sounds; not too serious, but it still doesn't sacrifice the quality of it
I posted this guy on Facebook. It's great to hear someone thats everything your not as a songwriter and just go shit yeah! So many ways to grow. Bloody awesome.
There is nothing else like this music, if not for the local coffee shop where I frequent, and hearing it playing on the needle, I wouldn't have found it.

huge hugs 🤗
What a sweet comment. All the best.
you’re a good friend, I’m glad this world has people in it like you. I awoke 20 min into this album to scroll n read your memory of a dear friend ...
List of FJM's anguished screams: 10:53 12:17 13:04 28:37 29:14 29:50
Logan Ace fucking funny when played side by side
The last three get consecutively more intense
I love you
You are a true apostle.
much appreciated, noted lmao
I can't imagine living in this man's head, but I love what comes out of it.
+countrypaul like swimming through a tub of acid on a perfect day,
I'll buy that....

This album just gets me.

Jacob Nova Thanks :)
I haven't been able to get over this album for two years now.
This is my first listen after being obsessed with funtimes for three weeks. I can't wait to hear the rest ^_^
I still haven't, and i listened to it for the first time exactly 8 years ago.
@@Abrahamhamham same. has great memories for me. makes me sad and happy!

Nine years later I hope you are doing well. Steve, US Army veteran brother.

Nothing's perfect? Wrong. This album is perfect . From the first note to the last lyrics. Absolute musical genius .
agreed man, a modern psychedelic classic if ever there was one
Agree. Pure musical genious. My son tracked it down on vinyl. Enough said
This was my favorite album until "God's Favorite Customer" which is just another level of genius.... we are blessed musically by FJM!!!
From the first moment I listened to this album while tripping, the particular lyric that seemed most relevant was "we should let this dead guy sleep" love it.
haha, that seems like the most relevant lyric when Im sober.
I agree with you not only because your right but because you are friggin Ian Curtis
I think it's the first lines of I'm writing a novel or the first verse in Nancy from now on
iM CRYING
+Matthew Cranford its from Hollywood Cemetery Forever
That is Father John Misty's greatest albums! Pure poetry.
The more I listen to his whole discography the more I’m inclined to agree
He is extraordinary. I love all of his work.
As I listen, I'm happy, sad, excited, self-reflective and philisophical all in the same moment. This is what music is all about. Thanks FJM.
I haven't felt this calm and peaceful in years after listening to two of his albums in a row. He's amazing.
This album honestly is like an anti-depressant to me, I'll love it forever🥲

Sub Pop Doin' god's work. High five*
Lukas Suzzi :)
+Lukas Suzzi FJM is agnostic/athiest.
+Sub Pop Thanks Sub Pop
+lilkck13 He wasn't responding to FJM directly, he doesn't run this channel. Also, it's just an expression. I think it's used mostly ironic anyway.
Greatest album I'vbe heard for atleast 10 years
I've got this album on vinyl - it is perfection.
This is a beautiful album. Thank you, Father John Misty and gang, for reinvigorating my love of music.
"... Joseph Campbell and the Rolling Stones couldn't give me a myth, so I had to write my own ... " Great lyric!
Got a huge fleet foxes vibe from this, then found out he drummed for them
they're both really melodic songwriters
+Steph Ler no way!! I love fleet Foxes..they do sound similar
what in the fucking fuck! no way dude!
Yeah, there's something resembling there, yet different. I'm almost positive he left because he wanted to make something of his own. Either way I just love it.
@@st33nb3an4 I agree. Not really similar.

I discovered 'I love you, Honeybear' first, and I'm now in love with this album as much as its successor, which is saying something!
same. can't wait for the new one.

Just saw them at Outside Lands and they killed it. Best show of the weekend.
Picked the album up at the music shop on a whim because of the incredible album art. In this case I am glad I "judged a book by it's cover", my favorite impulse buy to date.
"Cemetery Sings" was almost too much for me but thankfully "I'm Writing a Novel" came on and saved me from tears.
perfect dynamic choice huh
pretty much a perfect album
Josh could take a sip of water and spit out ice cubes, hes that cool.
with a comment like that you must be a white boy.
Alex Mistera Yeah man.
***** What are you babbling about? Put the lower shelf booze down; Slowly move to the couch without tumbling over; and sit the fuck down and STFU !!!

Wow this music is really calming while on shrooms, the lyrics are beautiful, such creativity and Soul in them
I love you Father John Misty. I have listened to this album at least 10 times, your music gives me a sense of nostalgia to a time i am yet to visit.
Hey Sub Pop, thanks for streaming your releases like this. Always appreciate it!
It's like Fleet Foxes and Harry Nilsson had a love child, beautiful stuff
Right on.
Blessed by phil spektor
just when you think music and art are dead, something like this comes along.
Always relevant and so so perfect! Thank you all for the love, peace, and joy you spread with this little bit of infinite creativity!

Easily the best album made within the last 15 years.
I can't get over how much I like this album. I'm a fan thanks to Duncan!
Track 2 and Hollywood Cemetery are where it's at. This whole album is amazeballs.
the most talented alternative indie musician today after damon albarn
I've listened to this album for four days straight, can't stop!
I haven't been this impressed with an album from front to back in a long time.
I can't stop listening to this album. This stream on my laptop and CD in the car. Stunning.
Badass album.
