- It turns out listening to the podcast on the Bain family murders before solo camping was not my finest idea... Welcome to Chapter Nine of my experience thru-hiking the 3,000km Te Araroa of New Zealand.

absolutely stunning! i've been going back to your pct videos and love seeing the growth you've made in storytelling and cinematography.
I am a consistent RUclips "skimmer." Your series is always an exception. They are the only videos I watch end to end! :-)
I had issues with that plant as well, I used to call it the spiky bastard plant. I lost count of the times I cried "OW! You spiky bastard" when meeting one. I walked about a dozen trails when I visited in the summer of 04 so your adventures have brought back some memories.
I later learned that the early Europeans who visited your islands also had a name for that plant as well, they called it the horrible Spaniard, as in their day a Spaniard was the spikiest thing that they had previously encountered
Thoroughly enjoying your videos
Seeing the title "Chapter Nine" on my feed made my frigging day! I absolutely love this whole adventure you went on and has inspired me to add this trek onto my list of must do's...thank you so much for being such a great storyteller and creating this master piece. I can't wait to watch the last chapter (even though it will be bittersweet) and I wish I could download the whole series to watch all over again on my flight to Alaska in July...keep on keeping on and I hope all is well with you and yours.
Amazing views, I admire your spirit and inspire me to thru-hike. Have you ever thought of a montage of all times you fetched your camera?
Another stunning combination of video and story telling. Every time I think I can’t possible enjoy the next chapter more than I did the last, then I do. Thanks for taking us with you on your journey.
This is one of the best episodes in terms of great shots/cinematography. Sad to see it coming to an end.
Not sure why when I watch your videos it brings tears to my eyes...
I literally googled longest hikes in New Zealand today and found out about the TA then proceeded to RUclips and stumbled on your channel and have watched all the chapters in one day! I’m so glad you did something productive during the lockdown and an epic journey. Can’t wait to go on a few hiking trips myself around the world. Much love from Melbourne.
Loving the series Elina. Super inspiring stuff. Thanks very much.
Beautiful, beautiful images. The panoramas are amazing.
Thank you for sharing your journey with us
Hi Elina,
just finished watching your video series of your walk of TA! Firstly well done you you did an awesome job, loved your videography and the humor and the privilege of walking with your two bros!!!...I too have walked it- albeit solo... for charity in 2019 @creativetrail2019 (my ability on the camera wasn't to your level though) but what got me the most was your mothers struggle that you showed as you reached the Cape, I lost my mother the same way 20 years ago...when I saw your last video I just lost it....really appreciate the effort that you went through to complete the walk (I did it NOBO), so completely understood your video "pain" and "joy" lol....
You've inspired me to walk it again...
Many thanks
J aka creativehiker
Genuinely one of the best series on youtube! I've fallen in love with my own country all over again thanks to your videos. Not an avid hiker myself but man you've made me want to give it a crack!
your videos have been my source of comfort during the pandemic. from the pacific crest trail to the length of NZ. i always looked forward to your uploads. your TA series was my source of joy during the grueling preparations i needed for my licensure exams. now im a boards certified civil engineer. and i want to thank you. keep making this vids Elina. much love from the Philippines💕
Looking forward to, but also sad that there's only one chapter left. Been an amazing journey so far.
Love it. Note your "diminutive" dig at both Stewart and North islands. #mainlandforever
This made me so homesick for the place I lived 2016/17.. what a lovely video, thank you so much!
You make me feel like I'm walking with you, your talent is second to none, thankyou so much for giving to us 😊
I tried your voiceover technique on my recent video release, thanks for showing us emerging tubers a more beautiful story telling style 🎬
Really enjoyed watching this while isolating at home with COVID. Even if I was unable to go out, I was still able to enjoy the scenery :)
Always love seeing you Elina...youre amazing !!!
So so so beautifully told, VERY sad this series is coming to an end… but that means my TA journey is coming soon ❤️ See you down there hopefully!
Thank you so much for the great deal of effort you take to share your adventure with us, and so beautifully presented 🤙
Inspiring stuff Elina! I completed two of the three thousand kms in 2018 and hitched the rest. Your videos are like nostagia for me, cant wait to give it another go one day. ❤ from Canada
So much appreciation for you Elina for putting your passion and creativity into this Te Araroa chronicle. I started following the series to imagine what my own TA thru-hike would be like during prep, then following episodes on my phone in-town on the trail itself, and now re-living my journey through your eyes after finishing. The parallels and differences between our journeys are both incredible, and so profound! This mahi will stand forever as one of the great accounts of the TA odyssey, and of any thru-hike for that matter, period. Ka pai, ka pai, ka pai, congratulations!
Kia ora Elina and thanks for another stunning instalment! Makes me long for the summer and for future planned adventures. Having binge watched every video you’ve now made I feel like a bit of a crazy stalker but love your storytelling - definitely the best out there. Nga mihi and happy trails
Thanks for finding the time to get another one out. Love it.
Thanks again for the great video series! They're too good to watch on a phone or a tablet so I always save them to watch on TV or a large hi-res monitor 🤓.
So much love for these areas covered in this video. My neck of the woods. ❤
you used a drone there too? cant recall you carry that. great episode as usual
You and your crew are absolutely killing it! I just crushed my first 33 mile hike on my usual trails over here in SE Washington State, and I think I'm finally ready to hit the PNT to warm up for the PCT (hopefully for class of '23). Your journey really is giving me that much needed push to chase my own thru-hiking dreams, I can't thank you enough. It only made it even better that I got to cap it off with your new vid tonight!
P.S. Your friend's aioli peanut butter tube is straight up Boujee asf lol. Cheers from the PNW🤙🌲🏔️
Would love to know if you are stretching everyday? What are you doing for warm up and cool down?
Absolutely have loved following your journey on this trail after the PCT. You have a great energy and I love your style of video.
Yay !! You have yet again made my day. I’m sad that it’s almost over. Thank you for another wonderful novella of sight and sound. That little beach played in such a key scene of LOTR. Such a topographical plethora of pleasures. I’m sure I speak for many when I ask, “What’s next?” Selfish of me I know, but like a hand fed puppy I’m ready for another treat. Tootles.🦋
Magic as usual, I don't want it to end.
There is the 5th kind of people on trail: the people who just want to enjoy life in a pure form
Amazing 👌👌 dreading that the series is almost over cos these videos are magical
Was suppose to start the overland track today but it has started to snow and visibility is almost none existent(will start tomorrow) so watching this instead to feel better!
best episode ever, imo...thanks! it's awesome! :)
Beautiful, thank you. I am sad it's ending soon. I wonder what your next project will be?
it's all beautiful & 14:37-15:37 made me cry a little, such wonderful humans
You're amazing. Love to follow along with you!
Wonderfully addictive!
Awesome, I love when these episodes get posted! I want to know about how the music is selected for these videos - is it chosen based on lyrics, or melody, or sentiment, or something else? Was it what was on the playlist during the hike?
WOW, what an incredible section of scenery, looks so peacful. thanks again for the inspiration! that shot at 7:46 😍
Bravo! ❤️ Otago :-)
Nooo I selfishly don't want them to end! Especially after finding the girl gang of dreams 😯😯😯
Great video! 😊
Love love your story.
I dont want this to end
I love that in this section you are hiking in a girl gang. How was it hiking this way verses when you are the lone gal in a group of guys?
Wow, you met Veronika!
Brilliant!
Well made video. Very suggesting....good girl..... top
How many days do you hike till you wash cloths?
I like your watch..
