- With worst fears being realised, could it be the end of the hike? Welcome to chapter seven of my experience thru-hiking the 3,000km Te Araroa of New Zealand. And yes, Dion and I almost died from our sandfly-infested interview.

Big thanks to Macpac for supplying the gear, and the TA trust for all the hard work to keep this trail alive!
This episode had more of that lightheartedness that I loved so much in the PTC series. One of my favourite TA episodes yet!
Dang, girrrrrrrl, you are a very talented story teller. I do a happy dance when I see you've posted something new. you are doing EXACTLY what you are meant to be doing IMHO. Can't wait for chapter 8
I laughed out loud as many times as I got choked up. Brilliant piece of documentary here. Please submit to film festivals.
Wow, a beautiful new film Elina. the look of it, the emotions, the beauty of nature everything fits perfectly, I really felt like being out there with you. Outstanding work. You are a brave hiker, an awesome storyteller, and a great filmmaker. Stay safe out there. Best wishes, Mario
I hope that the awareness that we look forward to your videos as much as we do never feels like a burden and that they bring the same joy for you as they do for us.
While the rest of the hiking world vlogs you are making movies. What a treat it is to watch your art.
I fully loved the Richmond ranges section. No drama just sore legs and great view, hardest 5 days ive eva had tho.
The force is strong with this one!
Probably my favourite chapter/episode to date for the TA. Great mix of hilarity, pathos, angst, danger and philosophy. Loved the sound track on this one too.
Moar plz!!
This vlog makes me realize there is more to life. Thank you for opening my eyes ❤️
@Troy Booker, Life is beautiful.Blessing from Poland and my channel 😊
You had such a good crew, that's priceless!
You are a master of this type of filming. It's an absolute pleasure to watch these videos. I cannot wait to get back and hike in your beautiful country. Thanks for sharing!
You keep catching me off guard with the mid-section cliffhangers....killing me! I love it!
Always love it when I get that notification. Awesome series!
Elina, your videos are such a piece of art. I don't watch them as youtube clips, but as a movie that absorbs me completely. I switch to full screen, lean back and dig into the images, the atmosphere, the people. You are a great storyteller and I wanna thank you to share all those intimate moments with your audience. Keep doing what you are made for!
Each chapter feels like getting another Christmas present or maybe finding a special Easter egg. I love how each episode feels so unique yet still part of a continuity. Thank you for the beautiful vistas. And thank you for all of the work, the thoughtful efforts you put into every minute. Like your PCT adventures I know I’ll watch these more than once.🦋
Loving the LOTR vibes many of your videos have! Time for another movie marathon! And a walk in the bush!
This is hands-down one of the BEST series on youtube and it's making me miss my home in NZ so much! You've captured the raw beauty of our little slice of paradise so well and it's making me appreciate the beauty the place has. You've even inspired me to explore my own backyard when I get back this coming summer... maybe not tackling TA first as I'm not a seasoned hiker but it's certainly something I want to work towards one day.
2:28 I remember having lunch there before summiting Rintoul haha, great to go back through some memories. That mid>top wairoa section was horrendous.
Found the TA series a day ago and I'm hooked. Really looking forward to the next one, keep them coming.
This is such a beautiful series! Very different compared to the PCT series but just as or even more inspiring. If covid allows I'll be in NZ next year to hike TA. Love your videos, can't wait to see this beautiful country with my own eyes.
My favourite episode so far. Lingered on the hiking, and a cliffhanger to boot in a foreboding landscape avec matching soundtrack!
Glorious weather. Great hike. Amazing panoramas.
Thank you Elina for this new video
best episode yet. I love how you let the scenery speak for itself, beautiful
seeing a new chapter pop up in my subscription feed always instantly lights up my whole day :D
Thank your for sharing your story! My wife and I hiked the TA 15/16 and the RR was the best, the challengeing and hardest part of the trip for us! Stay safe and enjoy your time. All the best from Germany
Awesome again Thanks "Fumes from the Bunk below!" Oh such sweet memories Haha
Lots of great experiences and footage!
Have been binge-watching your vids, Elina - brings back fantastic memories from my own TA through-hike in 2015-16.
... Such an amazing production ....The AWESOME location ,, the wonderful narration and story told with such feeling ....... Thank you ...
Really hoping New Zealand opens up for hikers this coming Dec... Richmond’s look spectacular
I love your videos! They are beautifully put together while still being honest and raw. I did the trail back in 2016/2017 and watching your series makes me relive it :) Thank you so much! Can't wait for Chapter 8!!
Loved this chapter Elina. Watched it twice.
amazing. storytelling is top tier, cant wait for the next chapter!
Love the community snippets - very cool !! Can u make a video on how you met everyone / ur trail buddies - I would totally struggle with that lol
First lesson - Richmond Range and Nelson Lakes absolutely teaming with wasps in mid summer. I avoid tramping there at that time, or head straight for the tops to get out of range!
That bridge is the part that scares me.
Thanks for sharing Elina👍
l love your story! thanks
Nicely done. This is where it gets interesting.
@Dean Nilvalli, I agree 😊. Greetings from Poland 🇵🇱 and my channel!!
@@agnesskibicka I will check it out. Greetings from your neighbour to the west.
@@deannilvalli6579 :))
Nice to see a sign for Christchurch, I live in the other one up north from you guys. Can NZ’s beat our town slogan…. ‘Where time is pleasant’ Great episode as always 🤲
SO MUCH TYPE 2 FUN!
The suspense was high in this one, even a cliffhanger! I guess the cabin zero was your chance as kiwis to experience a "proper" lockdown ;)
Elina is like the female version of David Attenborough:)
That voice sounds chill:D
Congratz Elina.
This is art
You have walked both PCT and Te Araroa... If you should recommend one of them as a persons first thrue-hike which one would it be and why...
I sound like a broken record, but,.. these keep getting better and better. :-)
❤
Wow, a swarm of wasps?! What, they didn’t like the weather?
What are the 2 green huts at 13:17?
I'm allergic to bees and wasps. NZ was the last place I thought I'd encounter them.
Still tip tapping along.
I've missed you
❤️
The TA series makes me feel so many things…..
The sickest I have ever felt was with food poisoning. Worse than anything … even covid.
Yes. . .
Shit, I dunno mate, I've been tramping and trapping in this area for yonks and have never had a wasp sting. I assume those dudes were buggered and not that alert? Spaghetti is a very low-value food, and the dehydrated packages are of insufficient calorific and nutritional (protein) value for 84kg me. I suggest brown rice and lentils soaked in a screw top polycarbonate jar during the day then brought to the boil at day end, simmered for 15 minutes at a very very low heat with the lid on (a tea light candle is sufficient to simmer once it's brought to the boil) and then add your seasoning or fish etc after all the water has been absorbed. A kg of each will last you at least a week including breakfast made of leftover dinner.
12:40 whats the song called ?
Still wandering (String version)
you lost me at the headphone cord. Getcha a blutooth m8
What’s your favorite peanut butter
Cry cry cry
This video has convinced me not to try to do the trail barefoot!
Your right my children and that is what life is ,you have my respect always and good luck
Epic!
