I REALLY like this theme. I love how it seems like the techno electric stuff kind of seems like it’s encroaching on Skarner’s base theme, and he’s the strings almost fighting the void off. Super sick.
They never fail to give such a well rounded experience with these characters. Like it perfectly embodies their being. Like the tempo going to skarners walk pattern. And the sadness of his backstory*chef kiss
My interpretation of the theme: The theme starts as a predator waiting for its moment to strike (it feels familiar to void champion themes), then the chase begins followed by the act of a predator catching his prey (happens in rapid manor, pointing at how strong of a predator it is). From 0:50 it sounds like an ode to the predator, a marvellous tone in primeval world (possibly a reference to Brackern species as whole). At 1:51 there is a twist (the invasion of void and the fall of Brackern), it follows with uneasiness until 2:28 where whispers appeared (Skarner himself getting paranoid and conservative). 2:32, what once was an ode now transforms into nostalgic and melancholic composition of fallen majestic species and the last one of its kind consumed by fear and rage towards the threat that caused it all (the Void). 3:01, a reminder that Skarner is still that primeval being nobody should toy with (A sovereign of an Ixtal region).
I don't know, giant earth-bending scorpion what digs trough the wall to snatch you and drag you into his grasp seems like an A+ grade horror material. Kaiju movies are horror too, after all

Came back to hear this theme and DUDE, this might still be in my top 5 favorite musics with aurelion, velkoz, jhin and aatrox. The sense of dread and fear is heard very well in the melody, showing an imposing yet powerful person oth physically and politically, with a tribe feeling Fitting ixtal very well. And the whispers spawning more and more as the time goes on in the music giving a sense of paranoia, i actually feel skarner's fear of letting ixtalis run onto danger, afraid of leaving what's only left for him. He's definetly one of the most misunderstood characters in the lore because unlike conservatives who want to keep the culture for themselve or else it'll get replaced, skarner is afraid for his PEOPLE and how they could die by the void or war, old skarner wants to avenge the injustice that happened, new skarner doesn't want this injustice to happen

I remember first loging to league, and I was petrified, by how amazing his music was.

In truth, all I ever really wanted was a revert to his pre-Juggernaut rework, with a few things kept (like the health scaling on the shield.) Sadly, we can't all get what we want. Another interesting thing to note: at 1:30 I hear a bunch of what sounds like scuttling, like a crab or scorpion. Very nice detail :)
This theme blew my thoughts on what it could be out of the park. It sounds so good the whole way through. Every instrument blends so well together. I'm going to miss my main of 5 years, old Skarner, but I'll gladly welcome this new version of him. I also always love seeing the behind the scenes footage of all the work that went into this.
I love how this shows that as they were redesigning skarner they just, kept making him bigger early on in the redesign he was still huge, but not HUGE huge then he just kept getting bigger

The updated kit and design I'm optimistically neutral on. Just not sure why the lore needed to be changed. Arcane and Skarner can both exist. :( The idea of an entire race being the source of hextech, and the stones being used for both important and trivial things is an amazing ethical concept that could have been explored. Now it's just giant scorpion protect city. :|
I think you could have had both as the recent piltover expansion into ixtali jungle could have uncovered ancient brackern resting sites abandoned due to the isolation of ixtal. The exploitation of the Brackern also fits really well with the themes of exploitation of Zaun as well
i really dig the theme, it sounds awesome. at first i thought it would not fit Skarner, as an Ixtali champ thats ancient and wise, but i get it. the Ixtaly jungle sounds are in the background still. in the forefront are all these agressive sounds like the chant and or the distorted guitar, so it fits for a wise, old mind that is corrupted by paranoia. i think thats another banger from the music theme all in all :)
