eri139 this comment is quite the stretch. I wouldn’t say they wanted you to think “snow” with the music. A “Full” sound is almost always the objective when it comes to music. Big open vocals and big open sound for instruments! I don’t think their thoughts were, “let’s make it sound full cause snow is full and soft cause snow is soft.”... He also said “trembling strength” to describe how the suspense had been building. I don’t think the objective of the music was to make you feel snow.
It'd be cool if you actually reacted to a song by Aurora herself. I've watched many of your videos and I don't think you've really reacted to anyone like her. I'd recommend The Seed, personally.
Your theory at the beginning about Elsa's situation on the balcony was more or less correct. Without spoiling as much as possible Elsa is still very much a loner, even as the queen of her kingdom with her family with her. In the first movie she felt isolated and alone, in this one, even though she has everything she needs she still feels as if she doesn't fully belong in her own kingdom because she is so different. This weird voice she hears is an excuse for escape and adventure and to possibly finally find out why she is the way she is.

But since the first movie, even though she has more freedom to use her magic, she doesn't want to put everyone in danger again to follow a yearning to test herself and discover who she really is.
As a Scandinavian American, I ADORE this song. The " eerie" sound is called lålning. It's how women would call animals down from the mountains and fields to be fed. Also how mothers and wives would call to children/husbands in from the fishing boats or fields for meals, or to communicate in areas where the population was small. It works really well in this song for this part of the movie. I love that little bits of my families culture is being brought to the world. It’s the big beauty of the movie they kept hushed for the audience to feel to the fullest on first watch. I’d love to hear your reaction to it. And you were spot on with the intent of the song in relation to the story. 🖤
I like this video. I never realized how much moving lines and just beautiful instrumental music was in this piece of music because I was just focusing on the vocals.
insomnia is me That’s just the really beautiful part about musical production. They leave so many hints and clues about the movie throughout many of the melodies, chords, and notes, even where and how the voices mix in with the instruments. Most people who don’t know music/don’t pay too much attention to it won’t notice all these bits of information you can gather from the music, but anyone with a keen eye can pick up the cookie crumbs left by the outstanding musicians. Music is truly another language. (And, of course, the visuals helped clue him in when he noted that she was looking into the darkness when the music swelled up)
Into the unknown is like, the “Do you wanna build a snowman”, like the opening song and it also has the popularity of “Let it go”, but honestly? Show yourself is much more powerful and it’s for me, the new let it go.
It is the new let it go. I absolutely love both into the unknown and show yourself but it's obvious that a large part of into the unknown's popularity comes from the fact that it was realised before movie came out I think, and the when the movie was still in theatres Disney released into the unknown's music with movie visuals to give people a taste of what frozen 2 was bringing to the the table. Show yourself is the climax, the culmination of everything that Elsa feels in into the unknown gets concluded beautifully into show yourself. I hope people realize that show yourself deserves just as much if not more attention as into the unknown.
That Dorian fantasy vibe in the intro, but lingering on the 4 chord is such a nice suspended feel. I haven’t really heard that done. And the usage of a major 7th at certain moments instead of a minor one. Beautifully done. I can’t really articulate what’s happening harmonically in the rest of the song, except for a key change, but it’s absolutely amazing
I love how it ends on such an unnatural note. It just feels so alien? Especially with the supporting vocals. A perfect summary of the feelings shown in the song
You were pretty spot on with her feeling. This song is at the beginning of the movie when Elsa feels that she wasn't where she was meant to be and she needed to seek out where that voice come from and find out who she really is.
I mean, he’s not wrong. That string MAKES the entire song, it’s beautiful. Can I also just say how your analysis of when the “eerie voice” goes from a minor to major key during the big harmony part, that actually makes so much sense given the context of the scene!
Him: she looks like shes not where she wants to be or something. Me: i mean the 2nd verse.... The song: WHO KNOWS DEEP DOWN *IM NOT WHERE IM MEANT TO BE*
The voices mimic the character growth: beginning empty, quiet, and almost timid. Leading steadily to the crescendo and eventual climax of the “narrative”. ~ coming from someone who has never seen either frozen movie
My thoughts were that the words weren't matching the musical emotions on the balcony, but that's because she was suppressing them in her words, which she then lets them go by the second chorus, so your thoughts of her being trapped seem appropriate.
This video is exactly how you know music is an art. Because he hasn’t seen these before. And he knows exactly what her life is and what her story is. This is art and it is amazing.
You were point perfect on thinking she felt trapped and wanting to escape. I was impressed with what you noticed. Disney hides so many micro details in their soundtracks, it's nuts. And Idina's voice compliments it perfectly. The part where she starts to harmonize with the voice spoke to me. She was no longer ignoring it, but dared to embrace it. She was getting in touch with her power enough to reach out to that voice, connect, and feel the kind of freedom to her that it offered. It took her already apparent need to escape and launched it into space. She got a taste of what she's been looking for all along, and what fulfills her and makes her happy. Also, if you're a fan of classic rock ballads (think some Queen here - you'll recognize some homage shots in the clip), then you'll love Kristoff's song. Josh Gad gets his time to shine, and it's glorious. The Frozen duology is my favorite princess storyline, and the haters can hate me all they want. :)
Watching you react to and analyse this song was so much fun. Can you do "Show yourself" and "All Is Found" too? The former being my favourite song from the movie, though it is very spoilerish, so I recommend an audio-only version, if you want to see the movie.

Most people who don’t know music/don’t pay too much attention to it won’t notice all these bits of information you can gather from the music, but anyone with a keen eye can pick up the cookie crumbs left by the outstanding musicians. Music is truly another language. (And, of course, the visuals helped clue him in when he noted that she was looking into the darkness when the music swelled up)

i completely agree!!
i was SO excited for his reaction to the bridge and Idina and AURORA’s vocal trade off cause that part MAKES the song
Him: It sounds like she's not where she wants to be
*10 seconds later*
Elsa: I'm not where I'm meant to be
Into the unknown is like, the “Do you wanna build a snowman”, like the opening song and it also has the popularity of “Let it go”, but honestly? Show yourself is much more powerful and it’s for me, the new let it go.
It is the new let it go. I absolutely love both into the unknown and show yourself but it's obvious that a large part of into the unknown's popularity comes from the fact that it was realised before movie came out I think, and the when the movie was still in theatres Disney released into the unknown's music with movie visuals to give people a taste of what frozen 2 was bringing to the the table. Show yourself is the climax, the culmination of everything that Elsa feels in into the unknown gets concluded beautifully into show yourself. I hope people realize that show yourself deserves just as much if not more attention as into the unknown.
im multifandom okay - you legit copied the comment with 2k likes pfft
im multifandom okay Show Yourself has like the same chord progressions as Let It Go, just scrambled
SAMANTHA?!
pfft, I don't even know a Samantha!
Pfft,i don't know any Samantha!
We were watching frozen two for my friend Sam (Samantha’s) birthday. We were all dying of laughter
ŽIŽI TM 雨の中の花 lmfao!
SAMANTHA IS REAL
Please react to more Idina! She's a Broadway legend.
Ehem LEA SAYS HI
When he notices %99.9999999 of the stuff you didn’t even know existed after listening to the song for %90 of your daily time...
ok but that french horn is the most underrated character in the movie 👁👄👁
You called it, the development of those notes “Ah ah ah ah” and the phrase “not where I want to be”
Joey: Who master this song?
Disney: Some EGOT guy :P
You got the feeling right. This song is the moment where her mind turned and start a journey.
No the singer just sounds like that. The singer is a Broadway Performer she sounds like that live.
elsa: "into the unknOOWWWNNNN!!!!"
arendelle: our queen always disturbs our sleep by singing so loud
I love this song so much, gives me chills every time
AURORA's voice is no joke. It's like the soul of nature is in her body uwu
Her family? "her parents are dead" as olaf explains to everyone
I love how it ends on such an unnatural note. It just feels so alien? Especially with the supporting vocals.
A perfect summary of the feelings shown in the song
No one:
Literally no one:
Idina Menzel : *hits the high note*
Joey: *woo, those strings!*
When he was talking about the trapped feeling and how shes not where she's meant to be like BRUH HE WAS SPOT ONNNNNN!!!!
You were pretty spot on with her feeling. This song is at the beginning of the movie when Elsa feels that she wasn't where she was meant to be and she needed to seek out where that voice come from and find out who she really is.
How many people that want frozen 3
👇
Bernardo Kiamco It will probably be another 7 years. XD
Bernardo Kiamco 72 people
It would just be too much
@@cutiesos if Kung Fu Panda has more than two then frozen more than should
8:27
me: HERE COMES THE GOOD PART
We got another Elsa here..
4:28 Kinda looks like they're looking at each other
I mean, he’s not wrong.
The song: WHO KNOWS DEEP DOWN *IM NOT WHERE IM MEANT TO BE*
*.depressed_potatos.* meant** I had too
Gold Nepomuceno its fine all my friends do the same thing ill fix it lol
The songs from this movie just remind me of theatre music which I enjoy so muchhhhh
Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez wrote the songs for both the first film and second, and they’re absolutely amazing❤️
Music is, an amazing thing. The range of motions it can put you through to the mood that can change in an instant.
10:20 "That made me wanna watch the movie, but I'm not going to because I didn't watcht he first one."
Me: *Then watch them both*
You were point perfect on thinking she felt trapped and wanting to escape.
Joey, you should make a remix of this song
Ayy I agree. Wouldn’t the instrumental go hard as a rap beat? I would think so
Wow, I see you everywhere!
Dude! Stop Stalking Me In Yt! XD
Why I ALWAYS see you everywhere??
UwU person yeah same
I think the piano melody in the beginning is a kind of throw back to do you want to build a snowman. the chords remind me of it
I really like how you react to completely different things
I love that you pick out certain key points in the change of how the music flows and you start to notice it yourself
Nobody:
Joey: *Get hit by headphones*
Also Joey: I almost died
I can still not get over that animation towards the end, makes me so excited everytime. Disney always outdoes themselves. They really do.
Am I the only one getting anxious Everytime he pauses
idina: hits the high note
him: THAT BASE AND STRING DOE
Watching you react to and analyse this song was so much fun.
Can you do "Show yourself" and "All Is Found" too? The former being my favourite song from the movie, though it is very spoilerish, so I recommend an audio-only version, if you want to see the movie.
You were accurate with the guess of the narrative there actually, damn
I remember when Let It Go released, everyone was so crazy about it, gotta love them movies that built your childhood
as a trombonist, that b flat at the end was so beautiful!
