Omar Sy was part of the amazing movie Les Intouchables, the original French version of The Upside. No offense to Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart, but NOBODY can touch Omar Sy and François Cluzet. They have an amazing chemistry.

Americans don’t know this but this man is filthy rich. It’s true that his new show Lupin is doing great in the US but he has been rich for over a decade. Omar Sy doesn’t need the us market to stay wealthy. Jimmy talks to him as if he just made it because he moved to America. He bought a 7 million dollar house in LA before Lupin. That goes to show how good of a career he has had in Europe and mainly in french cinema. One of my favourite actors of all time. I’ve seen most of his work. I understand and speak french and to appreciate his acting work it is necessary you understand what he is saying.

That is in fact close to how a native French speaker of the Americas would pronounce Lupin. I imagine a lot of Americans learned Louisien/Acadien/Québécois/Old French pronunciation rules in schools, and people who actually make the effort to learn French growing up ended up learning Parisian/Metropolitan French instead.

Funny fact it was remade a few years ago for US audiences with "the Upside" where his character was interpreted by Kevin Hart. The original is way better. I'm Senegalese and honestly we couldn't be happier for Omar. He deserved all the success, he really worked for it. However I wish Jimmy would ask him more about his career but I have to say American people are quite self centered, ( I do have American friends don't get me wrong) everything he is asking is like do you know about us?

I am American and I agree with you. I would have loved to hear about his Senegalese and French background and experiences. As well as his other acting performances.
