I like the idea of Mario going around the world talking to his companion as though he's a real estate agent, barging into people's houses and delicately smashing their furniture and walls with his hammer going "I think this is both a bench and a treasure chest." then immediately leaving and going next door to do it again

The sewers could have been considered more,
    1. Bloopers live with you 2. If the green water deters you, place blue food coloring in in 3. The empty rooms can be used as a living room, place a carpet maybe. 4. At night you can come out and steal from the shops, nobody will know where you live. 5. Amazing access to some places in the mushroom kingdom, the blue pipes allow you to traverse easily 6. If you want you could charge people for using the blue pipes in your house getting rich enough to get a better house.
Anyways I would live in the koopa bros. Castle

Most of locations in paper Mario feel really cozy. One of the many reasons it’s my favourite game! I would choose to live in the yoshi village on lava lava island. Sure it doesn’t have the most modern houses, but it’s right next to a beach, has plenty of cool scenery’s and places explore through the island, and who wouldn’t wanna have a yoshi as a neighbour!

I know it's from ttyd, but riverside station always felt otherwordly to me, the sunset and the music pairing up really well to create a magical mood, just like sirena beach. Also the map description mentions that the area has locals but you don't see many aside from two train worker toads that just stay there, beside an abandoned and hostile infested station, after the express leaves.

    2:00 that's called a veranda, I believe.
6:00 The house with the exploding bob-omb is Kooper's house. So if you picked that house, Kooper would be your roommate.
13:40 The bridge would be great for like a massive roof party or something.
30:00 That is a record player, it plays vinyl records, great for the people who collect them.
33:00 I'm pretty sure Tubba Blubba had nothing to do with Gusty Gulch being rundown.
Also just realized, you should have done something with Goombario's tattles for the different rooms because he will usually comment on what he likes and dislikes on a room.
My picks would be Koopa village or Shiver City, for the "I'm just some average guy, looking for a place to live."
If I had the resources, I would build a house at Goomba village where Mario landed.
Also, if Peach was cool with it, I would live at her castle. Although, it does mean, I would have to get used to Bowser kidnapping Peach every Tuesday, and possibly getting mixed in all the antics of the mario gang, but I would say worth it.
And yeah, I would never evict someone.

Even better: mass produce the toy boxes and make each and every one of them a hotel. Place all those toy boxes in tuba blubbas castle, until the castle can’t hold more. Now you have the worlds largest hotel. That many rooms would solve the housing crisis and homelessness (if the mushroom kingdom even has those problems). Of course it’d be a huge investment, what with the toybox technology research and all the furnishing all the toyboxes, keeping the toyboxes safe and find a way to alert all the patrons of the toyboxes in case of a fire hazard, but if you overlook the logistical nightmare aspect, it would revolutionize housing in paper Mario!

Paper Mario is one of those games that simply no matter the location is always finding a way to cheer ya up
in some way from the glorious OST or the colourful cast like the partners or heck even King Koopa himself.
If I had to pick a place to pluck my weary head with some good folk to share my tales with, It would be the sun
baked regions of Dry Dry Desert and Lava Lava Island. They are just too adventurous to pass up exploring even if
I'd get robbed by Bandits amidst the sea of endless sand or getting looped around by the aroma of the Jade Jungle.
Not to mention THE famous duo of Koopa explorers consisting of a blue and bold adventure loving hero and
a stubborn yet foolhardy Koopa with a fine mustache have made a name for themselves out on the wilderness.
"sighs" I hope they are doing fine work out there as I have done over these last few months...
After all a bone dry desert and a mysterious island with an active volcano are an explorer's bread and butter. I mean who
doesn't like exploring an unknown frontier filled with lost history and shiny jewels?
Some expeditions just don't ever fall out of style I tell ya that!

You may want to reconsider Gusty Gulch.
Yes, the houses are small and have no structural integrity, BUT... consider that the inhabitants are all ghosts. If you used a boo mushroom and became a ghost, you wouldn't need a big fancy house! You'd just need basic shelter. You can even go through the walls if you want.
Plus, it looks like the houses aren't too hard to make! You could likely easily build a better one before you become a ghost!
With that being said, I would definitely choose Shiver City, Starborn Valley, or just build a new house near Mario's, because it just needs like a great quiet place to live. I love the cold, and the vibes that Shiver City and Starborn Valley give off are great. Starborn Valley might be better than Shiver City because there's a bunch of cool ninjis hanging around, and you won't get framed for murder!
Mario's house is bound to get hot in the Summer, but it's got immediate access to Toad Town, lots of open space, and a very quaint atmosphere.

A runner up is perhaps Goomba village ^^

  • @elias0240

Here are the places I would choose:
1: Mario’s crash site. It is very close to the Goomba village, so you would have great neighbors. The free goomnut is nice as well, and it has access to toad town. The reason I choose the crash site and not the Goomba village is the real estate. Build a house where the crash site is and you get all the villages benefits without disturbing the locals.
2: The mansion. It has all the good parts of living in amansion without feeling isolated like in Tubba Blubba‘s castle, due to the tightly knit community of boos living there. (Great roommates!) The shop is also very advantageous, as you can shop without even leaving the house. Having a butler around is also great. Sure, you could get lost in the haunted forest for all eternity, but you can just use the warp pipe to get to toad town. Plus, the forest is a natural defense against intruders, giving you the security of a fortress with the comfort of a home. Also, imagine having a board game night with the boos (it’s always nighttime, so the monopoly round never ends!)
3: The shooting star summit/merluvees house. You get the nice purple grass and the cozy comets flying by without being so high up in the air as with the star haven. It’s nice and quiet, the interior design is great, and you aren’t that isolated as a town is nearby. While it isn’t as spacious as the mansion and you do have to walk a bit before getting to a shop, living here has its merits.

Only you would think to do a video like this XD and now I low key wanna see videos of various games but you pick a place to live. Reminds me of SwankyBox and his "house" in Zelda Ocarina of Time.
As for choosing a house, ya know, I was thinking I was going to choose one of the typicals, like Boo Mansion or Shiver City, but you got to Shooting Star Summit at the end and reminded me how much I love that place. Your connection to the place holds a lot of the same sentiments I do as well, and that really resonated with me ❤️❤️ Heck I even bully a mini shooting star summit on my Animal Crossing island!

    Dry Dry Ruins:
The "trampoline rooms", as you call them, would be great bathrooms. The hole in the floor would be a perfect fit an in-floor bathtub, and they only have 1 door. You would need to make sure they don't leak, but if they did leak, then the sand filled rooms below could be turned into small, indoor oases, which would be cool. Oh, and that pit you have to jump down to get to the basement is BEGGING to be turned into an elevator.
    Boo's Mansion:
29:40 That's called a gramophone, I believe. 30:00 vinyl records. The gramophone plays vinyl records. Also, Bow's (I hope that's how you spell it, I've only played TTYD, [please make a sequel to this video in that game]) room would make be perfect for a swanky ball. Large dance floor, with a stage large enough for a small orchestra. Could also be a throne room, since the mansion seems to be effectively an entire town for boos, and buying it would make you the mayor/king over them.
    Tubba Blubba's Castle:
It isn't nearly as bad as you make it out to be. Nice high ceilings give it an airy feeling, and if you fix the size of the furniture, doors, and railings, it would be pretty cool. Besides the lack of boos, the large halls have plenty of room for décor. Heck, you could actually install bona fide chandeliers in them, with how tall the ceilings are.
    Flower Fields:
I'm not allergic to pollen, but can you imagine if you were?
    Cloudy Climb:
Since you're above the clouds, you're also above the rain, so a roof would be unnecessary. Also, for the same reason that deserts are hot during the day and freezing at night (there are no clouds to block out the sun during the day, or trap its heat at night), it would be fairly inhospitable to live here.
    Star Sanctuary:
Wait, I recognize those guys from Mario Party 5!
    Mario Bros' House:
The score board would probably list your height, weight, age, bank balance, credit card debt, and what not. But that brings up the question: how does that score board work? Does it automatically update through some kind of magic? Is someone watching Mario's every move and noting it down there? Does Mario just keep track of everything he does in between visits and note any changes? If so, how accurate is it, I mean, can we trust his memory? Cause if it does automatically update through magic, can you imagine how awesome that'd be? Keep track of your finances, from the stock market to your home's value, all automatically tracked and readily available in one location! No more counting calories or steps by manually, it's all written down in white and green!

I gotta go with Toy Box. Quick access with Toad Town is huge, especially since I wouldn't have to go through the sewers. Also, it looks to have the most square footage with the easiest way to get around being an entire train. Not to mention that I could probably live with the Shy Guys or train off of them to become strong. Finally, while I would have to build furniture, there are plenty of toy blocks I could use as materials.

Okay you might have difficulty clearing out the lava from bowser's castle...but would you even want to. It looks sick. Also the castle can fly, so if you ever want to visit toad town or anywhere else you just gotta pay off whoever's flying the thing. Honestly just contract with bowser and the enemies probably won't bug you either. Are you now siding will the villanous fire breathing turtle...yes but it's worth it. Then maybe add a few doors to make the place less confusing, have a map, maybe add an elevator. I feel like it could be a very cool place to live
My top picks are probably: Boo's Mansion, Shy Guy Toybox, Shiver City, Star Haven, and Bowser's Castle

Alot of room to store stuff or have a party and quick access to anywhere you want to go! Can't Belive you didn't see the amazing potential of the sewers!
