@BizznessBox well.. that we do not know yet. The story is made more mysterious on purpose and giving away more context and information over time, which has both positive and negative effects on how we see it as it is slowly released on a weekly basis.
So either Torben knew more than Sol for some reason we don't know yet, or he was suspecting Mae would survive and was waiting for his time to repent. Percieved guilt can make us "wait for something" that way.
And well.. it's not a new concept that certain force users can identify others based on heir imprint on the force when they stand before them, while others can feel specific people even through vast distances, but can't quite locate them.
It could go both ways at this point and either be a plothole, or something that will get revealed later.
I personally don't see plotholes everywhere in a show using mystery as a main hook, before it isn't further along the way and they truly are plotholes after all.
But you do you, if that's how you want to approach it.

My current theory is that the coven were in contact with a Sith who showed them some power that helped them conceive the twins. That's why they were so worried that the Jedi might find out about how the twins came to be because they might find out where they learned to do it. It might also explain how Mae came into contact with someone who appears to be a Sith to begin training as an acolyte.

This episode DID shred Anakin's birth and his purpose.

No it strengthens Anakin’s story. It shows him as being of the light side and created naturally by the force whereas the witches used dark magic and could not put a spirit in one body. Anakin was natural and the twins were unnatural (although the force may have intervened there a bit too).
It’s vague because it’s telling the same story from different perspectives and the dialogue has to be vague enough for other characters to misinterpret lines.

Kenobi went from Padawan in epsisode 1 to Master in epsiode 2, which is 10 years later. We know he was made a Jedi Knight at the end of episode 1 but we do not know when he became a master. So assuming Torbin becomes a knight not long after these event 6 years appears fast, but possible. Honestly we know very little about the average time it takes to attain the rank of master, of Torbin himself etc. This is a point of the Acolyte I wouldn't dwell on too much.
And just for fun: Dwight D. Eisenhower needed 5 years to get promoted from Lt. Colonel to full Colonel. After that he needed less than two years to get promoted to Brigadier, Major General, Lieutenent General and then full General.

Thor and Naboo, I LOVE your optimism, and that's why I still enjoy your content even though I am no longer interested in Star Wars. I believe you two are genuinely giving this a fair chance, but personally, I don't think Disney deserves anymore chances (my personal opinion). Here is why:
Kathleen Kennedy has recently acknowledged that Star Wars was a male "dominated" fan base. If this was something they were fully aware of, you'd think they'd lean into it and let the cash roll in, but no. I believe Disney wanted this property so they could buy a fan base that they knew would show up. They wanted this to push a new agenda on the fan base in hopes we would slowly give into their message. This may be a reach, but I genuinely can't think of any other reason to do what they have done.
I do genuinely believe Star Wars is pretty much completely dead to the original fan base that had previously spent loads of money on the franchise. I hope it's worth it for Disney.
Thanks for the terrific content Thor and Naboo, I will keep watching because I support you both, but Star Wars is dead to me now sadly. This is no longer Star Wars, it is instead an imposter standing in its place.

the Jedi serve the Force, Dark Siders _use_ the Force… and these witches definitely use the Force.

    Alright hear me out here..
The bunta tree. The emphasis on the bunta tree in the beginning with the sisters and again at the end with Mae saying "Osha" while looking at the tree. We can see the dead witches on the ground who appear to not have been burned nor killed by lightsaber. I think they were poisoned by someone, Either Osha, Mae or Torbin.
When Mae went to kill Torbin the first time he did not awake. It was only after she went back the second time with the bunta poison that he woke up and decided to take his own life; to gain forgiveness from Mae. When Osha was in the apothecary Qimir says "Torbin needs something only YOU can bring him, absolution" all while looking the bunta leaves. I believe he wanted full circle redemption from Mae through death in the same manner in which he helped to kill the coven. Bunta poison.
We also have the question of the scenes in the trailers with kalnacca attacking Torbin, why? I think its that Indara instructed her padawan Torbin to kill the witches and Kalnacca rejected the proposal, standing up for the coven.

I don't understand the notion that you have to work out who is the bad guys in this set up.
On one side we have Jedi who it has been established are definitively the good guys in the Star Wars Mythos. Its as certain as water is wet. Its the rules of the setting its fundemental to what star wars is and always has been.
On the otherside we have the bad guys. who we know are the bad guys because in Star Wars the good guys are the jedi.
I'm not even watching the show and I know this has to be the case because otherwise it isn't star wars its just some knock off of people in robes with laser swords but none of the established setting.
Having clearly defined good and evil (including factions) is a little limiting in an IP sure but if you want to do a mystery shade of grey thing don't do it in an IP that was made popular by being the opposite of that. Its like if you want to make a period drama don't set it on Pluto in the 43rd millenia of the qu'elocks dynasty kind of simple

Some of the issues I am seeing with this series comes from the story telling itself. The viewer is deliberately denied information that would normally inform the viewer so that they could know if the decisions characters make are good, bad, or indifferent and why. So now we as the viewer have to make these wild guesses. Given the lack of information re: Jedi concerns about this group training force users we have assume that the Jedi's fear that any one not trained under their rules might fall to the Dark Side and become a Sith. It always falls back to 'Fear.'

Maybe there was a clue to the fire in the first episode. The younglings were asked what came to their mind when pondering the force. What came to their minds was basically the elements. One of those elements was fire. Could Oshu's fear and connection to the force have manifested the fire physically? This would answer the question as to the way a largely made of stone structure could burn. It would answer who started the fire, that is, not Mae. Could this mean that the fire was actually via unrestrained use of the force, maybe that is what the dark side is, and therefore maybe the acolyte will be revealed to not be Mae. But Oshu
Not actively choosing the dark side, But 'revealed' to the dark side (because of the level of fear in her reaching out to the force, and fear being a path to the dark side) to be a focal point that other dark side users were able to perceive and seek out? And by taking Mae, Maybe the baddie just took the wrong identical twin.
We don't know why Oshu left the Jedi order yet. But obviously something happened to make her leave...we will find out, possibly that she just wasn't disciplined enough. He dark side just couldn't stand the light, or whatever

TBH, as a tangential SW fan (never really got into the literature), I don't hate this in as much as other fans (yet).
It might actually be one of the better 'force' themed live action Disney SW productions yet. Meaning the only productions I've enjoyed in the post Disney saga is: Rogue One, Andor, and Mando season 2.
Disney doesn't seem to understand what do to with the force/force users... they're either insanely powerful, insanely inept, or comic relief. The added advantage of not having a direct OT force character to completely destroy works in its favor... though the 'vague' origins of the twins has potential to screw everything up.
Considering I'd give Disney Force user centric shows/movies an overall grade of F- (ie Entire sequel trilogy, and what they did to Obi Wan 🤮)
This show is at least graded a C (so far).
I'm at least invested in Sol as a character, and am curious about Qimar and where the plot is going..
Couldn't say the same for Rey, Kylo, Obi Wan 🤮 (D+ version, not the real version), Luke (TLJ), the force kid that could push the broom, Snope, etc...

Hey Thor, this question is based on your Roshomon ending theory for the Acolyte. This is essentially meant to be the crown jewel of FKA Project Luminous, which was meant to be the new effort at making a real canon timeline and a new story. I have a feeling that similar to your Rey is No One shot-call, this crown jewel will be pure anti-canon: Teflon that rejects Star Wars having rules or consistency. Do you think the negative reaction to this show could seriously end Star Wars for a long while? Well maybe a bit meant to be trolling and getting y'all worked up by flirting with concepts that could open to a real world discussion, but it's really not coming across to my exhausted patience as the central focus of the show.
So far, it's about revenge, wrongful arrest, remorse, life choices, trying to keep a scandal quiet and misunderstandings. There is no wokeness in this, in fact, that's leading us right into revealing what made our woke world what it is! It's gonna be teaching us about using our common sense and rationality to distinguish the truth from the narrative others want us to perpetuate.

12:30 I have another theory (which is also extremely stupid): When Torbin says he's taking a blood sample, he looks like he is lying. What if... they injected the twins with some kind of antidote to a poison they used to kill off the coven. Maybe we learn later that Torbin and Indara were on a secret assassination mission that Sol and Wookie-Jedi weren't aware of ...u know, so they can be spared by Mae when she realizes those two are innocent. That way she doesn't have to kill a Wookie because that would make it harder to redeem her in the end. Because of course this is where this story is headed!

The twins may look more like the head witch, but the actors seem to be biracial, which I think was a deliberate casting choice, that in-universe suggests the twin are part Zabrak. In other words they share DNA from both mothers. It could also just be because Amandla's biracial herself and they simply wanted child actors that looked the part. I might just be reading too deep into it.

This is such a confusing show in all the worst ways. It isn't a murder mystery, we know who did it. It isn't a discussion on the nature of the force, it isn't about good vs evil. It feels like a series of and then events. And it isn't even interesting. The only questions the show makes me ask aren't ones it's going to answer. I though Jedi had an age limit what happened to that? I thought the reason for the age limit rule was because of attachments? What's the difference between these witches and the witches of dathamere? Why would any one care about a supposed rogue Jedi killing other Jedi? The Galaxy is a massive place why do they care about these witches. And with all the trillions of people born in the healthcare how and why would anyone assume only the Jedi train children.
The thing that I find most frustrating is that there is no through line or consistency between any of the star wars shows. It feels like random stories being told that have no connection to anything that came before, and doesn't care about what comes after. I just don't get it
