No. They give you pain killers. If you mean pain during surgery, no you don't feel it beecause you are under with anaesthesia. When the surgery is over you are still under anaesthesia until it wears off and then they give you pain killers. Laproscopic is good as there is low pain. It isn't scary. Most wake up and don't remember going under anaesthesia.

I'M SO TERRIFIED OF THIS OPERATION!! I'm set to do the operation within a month. I'm so torn about whether I should do it or not..
You can never take a gulp of water again. Not even one gulp. I love to go water I love water so much..
You're going to have acid reflux horribly if you already have it even worse, you going to be malnutritioned and you have to take the correct vitamins for the rest of your life.
If you look at a lot of people on RUclips who had the surgery. THEY ARE SO WRONG AFTER YOU ARE HEALED YOU ARE MORE HUNGRY THAN EVER!!
All you do is think about food all day and night.. you have to be sipping your water all the time having things with you all the time.
The bizarre thing is. IF YOU DID EVERYTHING THEY TELL YOU TO DO PRE AND POST WITH NUTRITION AND YOU FOLLOWED IT WITHOUT THE SURGERY YOU'D BE SKINNY IN A YEAR WITHOUT THE SURGERY!!
You're constantly trying to get your hydration call me nutrition in all the time All you think about is food.
And then what about the gallbladder. HIGH NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVE TO DO MORE OPERATIONS AFTER THIS OPERATION!! A lot of people have to have their gallbladder out and alarming amount.
    Things they don't tell you..
I really don't know what to do..
Not to mention what about your LOOSE SKIN I'M 50 YEARS OLD!! Now I'm going to have loose skin everywhere. Therefore this could make someone feel just a self-conscious as being fat not wanting to go out.
    This is so hard..

If you don’t want the surgery don’t get it! But based on my own personal experience, it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.
I’m 9 months post op, and I CAN take a gulp of water. Can I chug a bottle of water? No. But I was never doing that to begin with. I can take normal sized sips. It’s not like you’ll be taking tiny sips the rest of your life.
I’ve never had an issues with acid reflux. If you already do pre-surgery, many doctors will actually recommend bypass instead. I take one multivitamin a day, and that’s it. My lab work comes back great, no issues with malnutrition here.
Def not more hungry either. I actually have to remind myself to eat. I never get past a slightly hungry feeling. I haven’t felt that starving feeling once since surgery. I think about food SO much less now, but I still enjoy the things I love in moderation. The way I look at it, it’s just medically assisted portion control. If I could have done it myself, I would have. I’ve been lucky with the gallbladder issue so far.
At the end of the day, you have to do what’s right for you! All I can tell you is VSG has been the best thing to ever happen to me, and I have zero regrets other than not doing sooner. Yes, I have loose skin. But I’d take that over being 100+ lbs overweight any day. My quality of life has increased 10 fold, and the things I’ve been able to accomplish are things I could have only dreamed of at one point in my life. I’ll deal with my saggy tummy later, but it’s not urgent. I know it’s been a month since your comment, so I hope you ultimately decided to do what was best for you! Don’t let the fear stop you. I was terrified, but I pushed through and I’m so glad I did ❤
