Hi, I have a size 8 boot, the nitro Dinghy smallest size is 155. Is that too much board for me esp since its volume shifted?
The sashimi is literally the best purchase ive ever made. It was oversized for me but i’m used to pnw concrete so am comfortable on big boards. 11/10 and you can sometimes find the old years for cheap
I got me a Sashimi too and that thing freakin rails turns.
+1. Best board in my quiver.
Another vote for the Sashimi. Amazing powder board, one of my favorites!
But, “Sierra cement” was right there! 😂
Me too! I have the sushi and the sashimi.
I am surprised the Nidecker Beta APX is not on this list given your past reviews. Also, the NS Swift has been getting some great reviews, but not honorable mention? Any thoughts or preferences on these two boards.
Did you see how stacked this list is? It's Top 5, not Top 25. Because Never Summer can't build a good board to save their life. Fucking Lasagna Camber.
Hey Angry, need a new pow/ freeride stick. Im mostly in sierra cement
6'2, 185, size 10 boot
Need a Pow focused board but can handle rutted out snow and doesnt mind getting air off some side hits. Should i go 58 or 62 Select? Or something else entirely
Go with the 62 that added surface area and stiffness will help you in that heavy wet pow.
@AngrySnowboarder thanks man 🤙 also meant to ask if there is any changes to the Select next year or is it just a name change to "Pro"
I bought the Sahimi some time ago as a solid and a split and I love both of them. Only downside is the missing tail.
What do you think of the Super Sashimi that was just released?
Didn't even know they released it.
Which do you think is more versatile when conditions are not great and you end up cruising on groomers and hard pack, k2 excavator , ravine select or mind expander ?
Take your pick.
Hey quick question. I ride a 150 park board I’m 5-7 185 size 10 boot should I be looking for a powder board in 152 154 or 156? Thank you
Yes
hi... I have the greats as my daily driver....you think either the ravine select or PYLUNINC or dealer's choice to make a two board quiver? either board good with my katanas or a more aggressive binding ?
Katanas are great on either. Dealers choice on decks, can't go wrong with either.
Hey quick question, you said we knew there’d be no Burton on the list… I’m newer to snowboarding, can you explain why?
Because we don't work with marketing companies that make snowboards and yoga pants.
Expanding on Avran's answer, Burton as of late has become more of a hip lifestyle brand akin to like Lululemon or some shit, putting less and less emphasis into making good, standout boards and instead just kinda different variations of the same board. All of their boards lately have been just meh, nothing really you'd drop that kind of money for when you can get something that is literally 3x better from other brands
What do you reccomend for japow between the rome sds and the pyl uninc? I love to hit park jumps and side hits as well as tree runs. Main concern is float-ability through deep powder and a fun playful buttery freeride feel.
PYL UnInc.
Thanks man, just pulled the trigger on it. What bindings would you recommend for me with this board?
Bataleon Astro Asym, Ride C8, K2 Bond.
@@AngrySnowboarder i got the pyl uninc in a 155. I’m 5’9”, 175 lbs with size 9.5 boots. do you think i should have gotten the 157 or will i be alright with a 155
Your requirements are insane. Just get two different boards
Just wanna congratulate you on your intro song. I have a hunch you wrote it yourself, and you did an amazing job capturing that nostalgic feeling.
I did not, that's Karl Casey.
Hey i am thinkin to go with k2 excavator but i want to ask what you think about the Burton Tree Gril Master. Any idea ?
I don't think about it.
So solid, thanks man. You should have triple the subscribers-soon come Ras Angry
While probably not as good as last season, El Niño should make this season above average for pow
Last season definitely set the bar high
El Nino was a fucking wreck on Europe. Hope the weather decide it's our turn for powder.
Last year was one of the best seasons I've seen since the late 90s. Let's hope the predictions of another heavy El Niño are even close to on point
It’s been dumping here in Japan already
Yeah this comment didn't age well😂
I’m going to order an Archetype. They should be giving you a kickback. Are you riding the 158 in deep powder? I’m 185lbs and debating between the 158 or 162. I’d like to ride the 158 for tree riding but still need to float on a deep day
Get the 62
What’s the best shallow and deep powder-specific board that can deal with various types of and angles of powder (steep or Japan style)? I looked at a 420ph/super float an Endeavor Archetype and a Korua Uberegg. I really want it to take to Japan. I'm a solid intermediate, 190 in gear, size 12. I ride a Yes Standard and a Greats.
Archetype.
Rad dad here. Picked up the Ravine Select last season and it quickly became my daily driver no matter if it's pow or hard pack.
Have you rode the regular Ravine too?
@@PacketOfCereal No I have not.
@@PacketOfCereal I’m riding both regular and Select (Ravine 20-21, Select 21-22) . Select is noticeably stiffer, especially in the tail with those carbon rods, and feels more stable and reliable at speed. Loses some of the freestyle/partyboard flair that regular Ravine has. All of these are to extent, they are almost the same deck anyways.
Have you ever tried a Pogo board? They’re too expensive for me but I wondered if you’ve tried one & think they’re any good?
Never even heard of them.
@@AngrySnowboarder They’re German. Specialise in long pow boards. I used to pass a Pogo shop when I worked in Austria & they always looked very cool
I doubt they’d even send one for us to test.
@@AngrySnowboarder Fair enough. It was only a thought in case you’d tried one. Loving your honest content. Keep up the good work!
I’m debating between the K2 Excavator, Jones Mind Expander and Salomon Dancehaul. I’m looking for something with a good amount of torsional flex so I can rip around in the trees and feel comfortable with being able to swing the tail around quick. But not so much to where it lessens the dampening when flying on groomers. I’m 6’2, 200 lbs, 13 boot, please help 😫
ARE
I own a 152cm 2021 Ravine Select. At 140lbs I was a little nervous that it might be too stiff.....it's not. It is on the stiffer side of medium but it's very maneuverable. Rode it in about 13" of low angle pow and it did great. Never sank, and cut through chopped up pow with ease. I love the 3D shaping in the nose as it really does help funnel the snow out to the side.
what bindings are you running on it?
@@rad1ataRome DOD’s
@@g-bud gotcha. I was looking into picking up a ravine select, wanted to see if I could get away with reusing my medium stiffness bindings on it, seems like I can.
Nice, bought the older Ravine Alek Oestreng version during covid or so and will test it out more in Colorado this Jan. coming over from Germany. It is probably not there with the select, but a bit stiffer then the regular Ravine - at least I hope for it 😅
Pretty sure that was the basis for the Select minus the 3D shaping in the nose.
I picked up a Bataleon Surfer last season and it's been amazing. Can't wait to bring it to SLC this year
How do you feel about the maneuverability on it. How well does it go turn through trees
@@bostonstettler3191it’s a great board but it’s not as turny as a mind expander or the pyl dcp
I also want to know how you're liking it ?
@@madcowhookerslayerdon’t know if you’re asking the OP or me but it has changed pow shredding for me, it’s totally unsinkable and it’s no slouch on the groomers
155 or 160 dinghy for Hakuba? I am 6'3 210. I am leaning towards 160.
I'd probably go 60 for that deep stuff.
To clarify, honorable mention to the Mind expander or the Mind expander Twin?
Hey do I have test ridden the nidecker beta apx and I loved and that has been the powder board I’ve been thinking about buying. I want a powder board that floats really well but is very maneuverable and quick through trees but can also rip a mountain. I feel like the beta apx did those all well. I dont know if you have ridden that board or know if the ravine select dose everything that board does and more. And if you got any other board recommendations?
Trying to decide between the Yes PYL UnInc and the Ravine Select. Does one do better in the trees than the other? Any other major differences that would sway me either way? Was looking hard at the Excavator, but these other 2 definitely have my attention. Thanks for all your vids! Love all the detailed info, feedback, and especially the sarcasm! Keep doing what you do!
@@Shishiku91 thanks for all the info! What size are you riding? I'm 5'10, 175 lbs, with a size 9 boot.
I think he is an arrogant prick. A Burton hater, & a Jesus mocker, but yeah he does seem to know his shit.
Thinking about getting a Trapper Trout pow board instead of a sashimi or sushi
Late reply ... I've had a Trout for four seasons now and it's a sweet ride! Really good float in low angle fields. Trees are awesome just weight the front and you're basically pivoting the middle of the board. Has a bit of camber and a practical running length so it carves well enough but the nose definitely starts flappin' at mach chicken. Fun party board when slush slashing and popping ridiculous wheelies on that tail block. Greg is a pretty stand up guy and puts a lot of pride in his boards. I'm 6'-0", 180ish lbs, 10 boot, running fairly stiff with Salomon Echos and Union Atlas.
I was kinda leaning towards the sushi for ripping through the trees. Should i go sashimi ? Lol
Your call.
my sushi rips in the trees
Yes!! This is the review I’ve been waiting for this year ❤
Re: the Yes Hybrid being right there with the PYL UnInc for that #3 spot, how does the Hybrid compare? What does it do well and/or how does it fall short of the PYL UnInc?
More volume shifted and better in low angle pow as it floats better.
What am I missing about the MC Wayfinder that keeps it out of conversations? On paper and in an old review it seemed like a winner.
There’s better boards
@@AngrySnowboarder I didn’t ask the question in a good way I apologize.
I can’t seem to find any reviews or opinions on it since they made the MC Wayfinder II: electric boogaloo. Even Libtech recycled the clip of Austin Sweetin from last year in the ‘24 hype clip.
Having the 155 and 160 option and the larger sidecut radius would have it preforming entirely different I imagine and minimize some of the shortcomings of only having a 153.
Generally speaking I’m looking for something that’s going to be fun on the day of the storm and the couple days after doing trees and weaving the bumps on steep terrain yet not miserable riding the groomers in between stashes. Wasatch snow and I’m a heavier rider, daily driver is a dynamo 162. I’ve been using a sushi for my powder and tree board the past three seasons but I want more versatility.
On paper I come back to the mc wayfinder II, orca, and mind expander but now the excavator seems like a winner too.
Realistically the bumps and tree performance is priority over untracked powder performance.
What direction would you go with that?
Mind Expander or Excavator.
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks dude. What’s the right amount to size down on that excavator? Is the 158 capable of hauling and floating 225 lbs? Will my dynamo get jealous?
58 is perfect.
Deciding between a K2 passport, Rome ravine select, and ride deepfake. I like to go fast, carve, find side hits, ride trees etc. Which one would you choose?
All of the above.
All good choices, try before buy?
Quick question: what about jones hovercraft vs k2 excavator.
I ride the hovercraft, but was wondering about the excavator: it seems the excavator has shorter radius and is on a different stiffnes / whereas a the hover is little bit more of do everything.
Could you please share your point of view? Thanks in advance :)
There's literally a review of the Hovercraft you can go watch and one of the old Excavator.
@@AngrySnowboarder hovercraft already seen, thats what made me decide to go for one ;)
Ok for the excavator, will take a look ;)
By the way, without going into monthly payment, is there a way to do a single donation from time to time, as you helped me a lot for my boards and bindings choices? (And thus I think it is time for me to give you playback ;) )
What? How is Korua not on this list? Pin tonic, pencil, dart? Best pow resort boards out there. Not made in China either ( last time i checked) 😅
Simple there are better choices.
Great review
PYL UnInc or Ravine Select to pair with K2 Alchemist daily driver?
Take your pick.
I bought a new22/23 Excavator for $375, can't wait to try it this year!
No Telos Backslash?
Did you see it? No? Then it’s not there.
Hey Avran! How would you compare the Nitro dinghy to the K2 Passport?
Way shorter, wider, different camber profile and sidecut.
Waiting to hear anything about the arbor Brian Iguchi pro camber
Going to be waiting a long time for that.
I've only seen 2 mervin made boards in your top 5 for 23/24. Was expecting to see more.
Well then maybe you should become the script writer since you clearly want that.
He loves the T Rice Pro. Should check one out!😎
@@AngrySnowboarderis that a job offer. I ACCEPT!
@@James-fe1lh write the fucking script, lets see what you got.
No Nerd Superposition??
Do you see it? No? There’s your answer.
Orca didn't make it?
Did you see it?
Ooh I like this top5!
if you get the chance ride the Slash Vertical, would fit nicely here or maybe more party board/powder
I would be all over a Ravine Select if they came 1 cm wider.
Cut your toes off. Follow me for more medical advice!
@@AngrySnowboarder Instructions unclear, board is now 10 cm too wide.
@@EssenceOfTrance Use crazy glue to reattach!
Found a DC Supernatant still wrapped in plastic. Gonna be my main powder board this season 🥳
Avran since it’s probably too late to make any more top 5 vids, what are your top 5 snowboard graphics of 23-24?
Who cares.
@@AngrySnowboarder me
Graphics don't mean anything. Never judge a board by the graphic. You can't argue with someone as opinionated as @AngrySnowboarder
Dinghy let's go! Hyped for this year!
Now this customer segment group talks to me😂
@1:16 that’s what she said
such a shame that they don't make wide version of the ravine...
Ended up with the stalefish and absolutely no regrets.
Yellow glasses. Needed
No navigator this year? New profile ruined it?
The archetype didn’t make the list?? I thought that was your favorite pow board?
It's literally sitting in the honorable mentions.
@@AngrySnowboarder but didn’t quite make the list
WW proud.
❄️
Would the excavator be too wide for females?
Have a female friend on one. It should be a unisex board iirc. Unless you are really light and have small feet, I would consider for sure
Unless you have leprechaun feet and are trying to ride the biggest sizes, it's a unisex board.
If you choose any other pow board than an orca you're just poor
Can confirm, am poor and orca-less (not that I would ever get one)
i feel bad about making this reality based joke but my life would be nothing without my orca. We are a cult which you cant leave by choice. Help@@AnonymousBoarder
Peasant pod!
if you choose an orca your just a fan boy or a sheep!
