Plain an simple yet amazingly interesting an intelligent , Total binge watcher ! Im 60 an retired , i can't wait till summer when i get my Kayak in tha water an explore like Barry LOL. Stay safe Buddy 🙏
The quietness of those lapping waves around the boat brings back to me all the sensations of the sea, its smell, a distant outboard motor, people chatting on an anchored yacht....such special memories. Well done Barry.
True, it's the small things like that which make it magical. Stjepan Hauser's 'Alone, Together' cello piece -- starts & ends with lapping waves -- is mesmerizing. It's my favorite classical piece now.
Thank you for taking us to another interesting place, Barry. I had an old friend who used to say that if you want to know a town and its people, visit their market and have a meal. Waiting for the next one! Thank you.
Barry, you have broken all the RUclips video rules, You have no Bikini girls, You're an old Sea Dog, You're a Solo Sailor, You only put out fortnightly and You don't have a sponsor. But yet your numbers are phenomenal, Your subs are exceptional, and Your views are wondrous ... It must be the honesty angle people like!!! Keep it up!! Stay Safe & Fair Winds!!
You probably know this, but a small spray bottle filled with 50% water and white vinegar, is excellent when you don't have an iron. Hang T-shirt or Shirt on hanger, spray, leave hanging until dry! Works for me even on sun dresses!
Oh Barry, love to hear the ending Melody. It takes me way back to when you first started. I've heard a lot of adventurous mysterious things about Tahiti. Love to watch your food parts, especially when your ordering something and you shall it. It makes my mouth water. Love to watch the waters. Thanks much old friend and I'm old too. Look forward to your next❤
You and Sam Holmes are such an inspiration for me in my little 14 footer keel boat doing the nooks and crannies of Brittany and the La Rochelle area. It is tempting to defy the weather and the sea, but they are always stronger than we are. "La mer nous apprend la modestie".
nice to see you back like the pre pandemic vids, exploring, good sailing, history and day-in-the-life. thanks for taking us along, Barry! cheers shaddy looks top notch
A very cool life if you love the water, sailing, and the tropics! I love the fact the island residents are environmentally conscious, and actually care about planet Earth.
I’ve spent many a long afternoon at the Waterfront Bar in Port Vila. Vanuata is a lot more ‘developed’ these days than it used to be, but still has great charm and the locals are wonderful.
Thanks. Looks like a nice place. Yes, I was cruising when we just had a compass, sextant, binoculars lead line and barometer. That was pretty much it. No gps, ais, radar, chart plotter, computers with weather reports via satellite, just in-accurate paper charts (sometimes miles off), and celestial fixes (when weather allowed) with 3-5 mile accuracy. Oh and can’t for get the occasional guide book with hand drawn sketch charts. Also had to walk butt naked, in the snow 5 miles to school and back, up hill both ways. Ha ha. OK, maybe this last sentence was a little (or a lot) exaggerated. But believe me, I was the first in line to get a GPS even though it was crazy expensive, 2500 dollars on 1990 dollars. WORTH IT. It was absolute magic.
hmm, Tusker that's a Kenyan beer yes? If it is same beer, i have seen the brewery, and let me tell you, there were many many drunk rats at it. This was around 25 years ago, everything rusted and awful, so hopefully brewery has been cleaned up mate!
Ahoy Captain ! Do you ever get land sickness ? Have you ever had to send an SOS ? You have never talked about these things . Always a pleasure to see you again . Fare winds and following seas my Brother . Until we meet again ,,,,
Another great video, Barry! As always, you’ve inspired me in my own sailing challenges and reminded me that good days and rough days are all just part of the journey.
Ahh yes, clandestine garbage redistribution. I've done it myself. Doing yardwork I would accumulate very large plastic bags of weeds, dead grass etc. I would have my utility trailer full of them. Near my home there's an elementary school with a row huge dumpsters butted up to the parking lot. I would quickly drop by with my trailer load and pop them in. I didn't feel so bad because I live in the area and pay huge property taxes which fund that school as well as others. We're like pirates but instead of stealing, we're giving things away.
Proper geezer you are, Baz. Loved this vid, like all the others. Nothing tops the pacific, where you were on your own for all that time 👀. Hell of a guy 👍🏻
I'm sorry Barry, but I felt like I had to make my previous comment. On the positive note, though, you are the good part of the seafarers who do the right thing and this pose dirt trash the best way they can, with the environment and others in mind. And I always enjoy your sense of humor and attitude. You are an amazing dude!
Barry, I have just been rewatching your Pacific crossing series. You my friend, are a deadset legend as we say here in Oz! If you ever make it to Adelaide SA the pizza and beers are on me!
I have had "mal de terre" in similar many situations so I empathize but it is the luck of the draw and transitory to boot. Enjoyed the vid - thanks & cheers.
Running aground with dirty dishes in the galley is akin to having to go to the doctor's office with dirty underwear (as mum would always warn about)! 🤣
Wonderful episode. Wish I could visit that market. I was discouraged that you felt it necessary to lock up the dinghy and its engine when ashore. Never considered that in French Polynesia. But I guess there are needy and/or dishonest human beings anywhere.
Skipper of all times! So fun to follow. What A Market!? Super Cool with these ladies making food like that. Getting hungry 🤤 Shaddy’s looking good too. Fantastic adventures. Exiting the least. Buy some greenery for the cabin. It’s very soothing. Healthy when sleeping. Fair Winds ⛵️
Hi mate I live in Port Vila and thought I saw your boat. Thanks for the kind words about our home sorry I missed meeting you. From one old bloke to another stay safe and enjoy life cheers Ian
Hi Barry, If you attach a tube to the end of your funnel (food-grade silicon might be best), you could get water from public beach showers without having to lift your heavy jerry cans up high. Hope this helps
The VERY best video that you, or indeed anyone else's that I've watched for showing what the lifestyle's really like. I guessed from the initial shot that you weren't going to get to the fire-dancing - how long are everyone's lists of the things they've had to pass on because it wasn't safe, or at least sensible to leave the boat. If the weather's threatening but the anchor's secure and the shelter's good, you stay aboard and right where you are until it's passed. Stay safe Uncle Barry
One old guy to another, you rock! Stay cool stay safe my stay in the now , we need you to keep us going and to show the the next generations to keep the waters clean and and adventures start only when you set the foot forward. Thanks Barry for making that step for those who can only dream. As they say here, you da man! God be with you and calm seas ahead.
I come from The Seychelles .the orrigial Moke was horrible broke down every other engine will die when you hit a puddle of water because someone had the bright idea of putting the distributor at the lower part where it will get water, here now we have electric Mokes lol.
Barry. You are blessed, my man. What a life, and well deserved. The entertainment you’ve provided me, taking me to places I’ll never get to go, are worth to me far more than I could ever give. Gonna find a little something to support you, though. It won’t be a great amount, as my wife would have a hard time understanding why I’m supporting a stranger in the ocean. 🤣 Just kidding, my brother. She loves you too.
Always fun to listen and see you talk to the camera like an old friend😊
I liked how you showed the everyday realities of cruising life, such as getting water, daily chores, and disposing of garbage.
Beautiful water, fresh produce and a cold beer! A trifecta!
Plain an simple yet amazingly interesting an intelligent , Total binge watcher ! Im 60 an retired , i can't wait till summer when i get my Kayak in tha water an explore like Barry LOL. Stay safe Buddy 🙏
watching your videos makes me dream, and that makes me happy
Great comment 👌
No frills, just keeping It real. You the man, brother.
you crazy old man

When I lived in Antigua as a kid we had a 1960's Mini Moke. I agree, that thing you showed was not cool like our old one.
Thank you for taking us to another interesting place, Barry. I had an old friend who used to say that if you want to know a town and its people, visit their market and have a meal.

Beautiful Barry, I hope to retrace the waves one day. One day , it cost nothing to dream and everything not to
Well Berry ya done it again. You found another slice of heaven and was willing to share it with many of us still on the HARD. Smooth sailing to ya.
Amazing how you can make the rubbish trip so fun!!!🎉

A Van der Stadt 36 sloop. Cool! Last year I nearly bought a 1975 Cheoy Lee 33 ketch. Ongoing bon voyage.
Another great video, and the fish and rice looked lovely. Pity about the pizza.

Great video, no frills or fluff and telling it how it is. 😊
