      Thanks Duck Fan! Yes, I just came across it a couple months ago and I really enjoy it. Has a much more unique character to it than a lot of other DSLRs. I'll be doing more with it soon! Make sure to check out the waterfall video as well with the K-70!

    I like my K70 have had zero problems with mine I have used it for wildlife, astrophotography with the astrotracker module as well as Protrait photography and landscape photography. The flip screen gives me more options than my other fixed screen Pentax cameras. It is a good all around performer camera.

      It's good to hear about the longevity of your camera. Mine has over 57,000+ shutter count, but feels brand new to me (a testiment to the outer build quality as well as internal). I've convinced myself I'm going to try the astrophotography next spring but not sure i want to make the investment in the astrotracker. I have the winter to consider! Thanks for stopping in and taking the time to comment!

    I can’t believe this camera is considered a beginner camera. Sure it is not a sport camera but with shake reduction, the Astro features, weather resistance, it is above many of the new more expensive cameras. I love mine.

      Very under-rated. But that might also be what keeps the price affordable lol too much praise and the demand goes up, as well as the price! I'm def enjoying mine though!

    Hi from the UK,i've just bought a K70(yet to arrive)so been hunting through youtube vids and found this,i'm impressed already and cant wait to play with it,i'm converting from olympus M43 because of my love for vintage lenses,to which pentax have 1000's,have you tried vintage lenses on theK70,also would you know what the shutter life is?

    • @DozierGraphic
      @DozierGraphic  2 года назад +1

      I've only used the 18-135mm so far. I prefer the sharpest lens available but it's certainly fun to experiment with vintage gear for sure! No idea on shutter life, think I looked it up before but can't recall. Enjoy!

      Thank you. He is a good example of not wanting to take advantage of someone, but not wanting to pass up the opportunity for a unique photo. I sent them to a restaurant that he suggested, and they confirmed he liked the photos. So win-win!
      My only regret is not using Eye-Detect on him. For those that might be wondering, as you can see in the video, I used spot focus, and focused on his face, and while holding the shutter button halfway down to lock the focus, moved the center-point to frame the image. Thanks for the comment CW, and thanks for watching!

    Hi Jason!!
    I enjoyed the video! I have heard good things about the K70. I have always liked Pentax cameras. In fact my second camera was a 35mm film Pentax ME Super and a MG.
    Best wishes

      Right! I had (and still have) my Pentax K1000. Was kind of inspired to try the K70 for that reason, but that weather sealing is what excites me, it's a REALLY strong camera tech-wise regarding the sensor and some of the functions. Having a good time with it. I think the K50's are similar in some regards for anyone thinking about one, but only wants to spend a couple hundred.

    Do you see any similarities of the k70 and GR image quality. There is something with that k70 that makes the photos pop

    • @DozierGraphic
      @DozierGraphic  3 года назад

      Glad you stayed with me for the video Steve! I was thinking of you when I was out shooting this lol It's hard to say there were or weren't similarities given the complete different makeup of both cameras, but I feel like the images are a bit sharper from the K70. Stands to reason given the lens and sensor quality. Nothing wrong with the GR, but as you pointed out, the K70 colors do seem to 'pop' a lot more organically before editing. The raw files just felt like they contained more detail to work with. All these were edited in Lightroom, but I found I used a lot less contrast, clarity or vibrance on these than I usually have to on the GR3. This is definitely a keeper, and I haven't even had a chance to get out in the rain or snow yet, that will be a real treat!

    My first Pentax camera was a Pentax MX film camera. Loved that thing until it was stolen 😞 Went on to a Pentax ME super, then a Pentax K10D, K5, & now the K-70. It's been quite a journey but still loving it.

    Do you have an opinion on the K70 vs the KP? Would like to get the KP but not sure they are available anymore (new), so am thinking of the K70...thanks!

    • @DozierGraphic
      @DozierGraphic  2 года назад

      I've not used the KP Dan, but it seems to me, given that I can find an almost new/or at least in good condition k-70 w/18-135 lens for less than $500, but the KP seems to be closer to $1000, yet the K-70 typically scores higher than the KP. Without knowing details, and only at a quick glance at features/price - I'd go K-70! One difference is one may prefer the dials on the top of the KP, which is understandable, but I find that to be cumbersome and require constant checking the dials, instead of easily adjusting a digital setting via the viewfinder and one dial. Also, the KP has NO flip screen, only tilt, I prefer flip and unidirectional (not a real term), But I'm not a professional, so take it for what it's worth! lol

    You know I was looking into the d810 Even thow it has fixed screen and no touch but i'm interested in quality of photos so
    Torn between k70 and d810 what do You think?

    • @DozierGraphic
      @DozierGraphic  2 года назад

      I've not used the d810, but the swivel screen is a huge plus for me, I would have to vote for the K70, but again, you're the one using it, so good luck in your choice my friend!

  • @EricFullwood

    Pentax is beautiful. Their only fault is weak marketing. They don't pay money to all the "10 Best" lists.

    • @DozierGraphic
      @DozierGraphic  2 года назад

      It's kind of like back in the day when I was a U2 fan before they went mega-popular ... even though no one else knew of them, "I" was still able to enjoy and turn others on to them. Kind of the same thing with Pentax, other photographers' opinions mean nothing to me, as I don't hang out in groups or cliches, so the marketing/promotion is irrelevant to me, but I'm just happy I took the leap and made the purchase. The only problem with mass marketing and more promotion is they have to raise the cost of the camera to cover that extra marketing cost. So it's a win-lose, win-win, not sure lol guess who's perspective we're looking at it from. Thanks for the comment Darren!

      I understand that Ton! There are times that being 'hidden' can work very well (as you know with the compacts), but there are times when I like to be a 'photographer' and bring out the big guns lol Hence, my video about different cameras for different moods and results. Using the same camera every time sort of stunts my enthusiasm. I need constant motivation lol

    God that side hinged flippy flappy screen is a disaster for street. They should be banned.

    • @DozierGraphic
      @DozierGraphic  3 года назад

      lol hey thanks for the comment/opinion Chloe, regardless of how wrong it is! LOL j/k. I LOVE that little 'hinged flippy flappy screen,' typically referred to as a 'Vari-angle LCD display.' If I were buying a camera for street, this wouldn't be it, and I wouldn't use the flippy flappy screen for that. I only pulled it out for video purposes (but it couldn't be seen most of the time due to my terrible video 'skills'). But my next video with this camera, at a waterfall, wouldn't be possible without the flip screen, as I had it only about a foot above the water, and was looking down at the camera. That's where that 'disaster' of a screen made the entire shoot possible. But that's just my opinion, as you have yours Chloe - just never heard anyone complain about the flippy flappy screen before LOL
