Glad to hear this. I've been reading over this scenario for a month and it seems like an amorphous blob of a lot of plot threads. I'm thinking about tossing about half of them to make for a better adventure

Well said, the complete sense of dread is what killed it for me. No matter how heroic we tried to be in the end it was just too much, and well sometimes thats life. Thanks for running it for us.

Thanks for this, Rob. I've been waiting for this vid to come out. I won't pile on... but I surely could. :-)

Great review. About to run it and this helped a few things. One thing about the belt and the PC...I've read it's based on the author's grandfather who was exactly like this...including using the belt as such.

Unfortunate about the softcover, Free League do seem like great people. All the oversights seem to my eye like this was rushed through testing, unfortunate. Maybe a product of COVID and working from home

      It is unfortunate indeed.

@@AdventuresWithDice Just finished the review. Damn. I'm definitely gonna still try and run it eventually but your criticisms seem very valid

Well thats why I put them out there. Just trying to help others not go into it blind. Good luck with it!

@@AdventuresWithDice do you think any homebrew changes to it would be a decent way to salvage it? It sucks the android PC was killed because maybe their strength was needed

I'd have to sit down and look it over real close again. Its been awhile since I ran it. But I feel sure making some changes as GM would help a lot yeah.

I’ve used my Startet set rulebook quite a bit without a problem so I guess they’re not all that bad.

I hated everything about Destroyer of Worlds. The provided PCs are cartoon characters. The plot is utter nonsense, starting with this group of Randos sent on a high-priority mission whose revelations could ruin the careers of very high ranking people, continuing on to a planetary invasion that doesn't have any form or plan to it, and a third act that is incongruous to the timeline of the first two acts (the entire base is fine at the end of Act 1, the entire base is a resin coated hive by Act 3).
I've joked that Destroyer of Worlds is Aliens, if directed by Michael Bay and written by Uwe Boll. It is completely brainless, and mechanically bogs down by being heavily dice roll dependent, in a system where dice rolls specifically build up the Panic Cascade.
I didn't care about the high likelihood of a TPK ending. It's the fact that everything that leads up to the ending just... sucks.
I think certain groups can have fun with this. The people that will just turn their brains off, make pulse rifle noises, and misquote lines from the movie. Run by an easygoing GM, for a group of easygoing "Whatever" players, you can probably embrace the nuttiness, and not think too much about how the UPP's invasion is only slightly more intelligently scripted than a game of Warhammer 40K.
Me, it hurt my brain just reading it.
