Nothing beats that homemade broth. I like ground sage in my dressing along with the other spices you added. I also add the eggs. Celery, onions and garlic are essential with a little bell pepper if you want. That soupy mixture darn sure makes good dressing. I drescribe my mixture prior to baking, the texture of cooked oatmeal maybe a little wetter.
There is really no set recipe for dressing. Once you get that cornbread & some good broth, it's on. Just throw the kitchen sink in, with 2 pots, & a couple of seasonings in there & it's on. I did not learn how to make it until I was an old lady, but my dressing is gold ribbon good. Sage sausage, cornbread, white bread, a little Pepperidge Farms dry stuffing homemade broth, celery, bell pepper & onions cooked in butter, 2 eggs & Lord, you'll want to eat it raw. And yes. make it soupy. My Lord, is right mama.
I didn’t know you can add the celery and onions without cooking them down!!!…. I’m 50 years old and had no idea! Wow you learn something new everyday LOL ❤❤❤Thank you
Pastor Teresa, your dressing looks delicious. My mom added sage and pulled the meat off the turkey necks, chicken liver, and gizzards, boiled with the celery, onions, and bell peppers. Tell Mr. Eric, we missed him today.
This is the closest recipe to the one my Granny used to make. She did put a box of Stove Top in her and a lot more onion, but everything else is still the same. Now I am the one who makes it and I was trying to find a video of how much stock I'm supposed to put in it bc I was afraid I was making it too soupy - but I'm not!!! Best dressing on the planet. ❤❤❤
I just stopped at 12:24 and saw you get the bread. I remember sometimes my Granny would toast bread to put in the dressing with the cornbread. GREAT IDEA. This year will be my first time making it and I'm 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 that it turns out ok. Your video is the second one that I am comfortable with because it looks like the dressing I was raised and grew up eating. The first video I watched was from @danirose and she made this video a few years ago and I liked her video as well. Thanks for sharing this video
Please join us Sunday at 6pm EST for our LIVE where we get to know you and talk about it☺️❤️ Turn on the notifications so you won’t miss out. Let the journey continue….
Thank you so so so much when I say your cooking the old school way is everything, and your calm voice is easy to listen to and hear your instructions so clearly❤❤❤❤❤ it truly reminds me of foods I grew up on,,Thank you so so much❤❤❤ Mrs Teresa could you please do one on giblets gravy, thank you again and many blessings to your family HAPPY HOLIDAYS
Miss Teresa...I can watch you cook all day. First though thanks to you and Mr Eric for praying for me. I am doing much better. I have to cook 2 pans of dressing every Thanksgiving. One with Turkey in it and the other without. I like both. ❤😊
Every video for cornbread dressing that I have seen have shared their mothers or grandmothers recipe. So I guess I'll share my mothers. She always saved "stale" or day old cornbread, loaf bread and/or crackers. The rest of her recipe is following yours. One thing I changed was the aromatics were cooked with the cornbread. My children requested that I make sure the veggies were not still crunchy in the dressing. God bless you and your family. Sherry from Alabama.
My name is Joy cox. You are the only person I’ve ever seen do it this way with bread other than my Great grandfather. Mine is in the oven now. Thank you. God bless you
Your dressing looks amazing! My Mom used to make huge pans of boiled water cornbread that sat in the pantry for days drying out, before getting chopped fine. Everything else the same. Cornbread dressing is a complete meal, I could live on it! Thank you for sharing, Teresa!
Ms. T. Thanks so very much for sharing your mom’s recipe. I was in tears thinking about my mom it was a blessing to see you and your mom in the kitchen . I wished I could’ve had the opportunity to do something with my mom.
I make mine similar. I add sage and Tyme. I love how you are cautious about your salt intake. I will try this year adding a bit of chicken bouillon. Keep bringing us these amazing videos. WE LOVE THEM ALL 😊
I was going to ask her if she used sage and/or poultry seasoning in her Dressing. I'm glad you commented on the sage which is a normal ingredient in homemade especially southern Dressing, imo! Gladly, her Dressing looked delicious🤗
I love watching how others make broth for their dressing. I season the backs, spine/carcass and necks of a bird heavily...broil it under the broiler for pronounced flavor then boil the carcass in water with veggies, celery, onion and carrots bay leaf, thyme, etc. Flavor from the bone marrow is epic. It's much better than boiling white meat in water with seasonings because the bones carries the flavor.
S. Teresa you and your eating that amazing delicious 😋 yummy dressings and closing your eyes. I miss your hubby. I will try this for thanksgiving. 🙏🏽👍🏾🥰 God Bless you and your family . 😊
Looks delicious I use cream of chicken and celery and chicken broth or the broth from the turkey and chopped celery and onions and sage I don't use poltury seasoning I will try the complete seasoning and I will put some ground sausage in it too
Thank you for your mother's recipe. I have made dressing (for myself) and have failed so many times. I think this recipe may finally be a winner. I'm gonna try it this weekend!
I found you this morning 🤗 I'm from Mississippi originally. You're adorable! Your chicken and dressing look delicious. Most folks don't know how to make dressing.Cracked me up, we need to brown her a bit more 😆😅 you have beautiful hair, and the style fits you. Only think I would recommend stirring your broth right before you pour it into your mix... spices and heavier broth sinks to the bottom of the bowl. A lot of good spices have settled on the bottom. Swirl that broth to get all of the spice mixture. Thank you for sharing your treasured dressing 😘😇🙏🫶
Hey Teresa, LOVE your camera sweetie! Don’t know what you have but when you moved it in for a close up, it just adjusted so quick and worked wonderfully. You must be a little wizard, the way you edit and fix everything. Love watching you cook. I would have loved me a bite of that dressing! Can’t wait to let you know how my attempt worked out! ❤
I make my dressin the same way as your mom did and that was the same as my grandmother and mom did theirs. Thank you for sharing and God Bless you and yours
Yummy 😋. I fix my veggies sautéed before adding it to the cornbread mixture but I’m going to try it your way this year. I was nervous to try it because I didn’t want any veggies uncooked with a crunch in the dressing but you answered my question in your video. I like the fact that you didn’t say cream soups is a must to make the dressing taste good. I do like it with cream soups but I have had dressing without it and the dressing taste good, either way in my opinion. Thank you for sharing your delicious looking recipe. Happy Thanksgiving.
I’d love to see a true southern homemade caramel cake, nothing pre-mixed, not sweetened condensed milk cooked down, I’m talking stand at the stove and stir the sugar then add the other ingredients to finish the icing. Do you have a recipe?
Looks delicious Theresa. I put gizzard n turkey meat in it. Thanks for sharing. Happy Holidays. I miss Eric hope he is doing ok. God bless you n family
My mom made stuffing. To me it's the same as the dressing but not much liquid because we would be basting the Turkey. Also no chicken added. Both are delicious. I going to try your recipe with the chicken thighs and make the homemade broth. I'm not liking the store bought broth anymore. Also we use sage and poultry seasoning. I enjoyed the video...✌🏾❤🙏🏾🍁🌾🍂
I have to have Sage,Poultry Seasoning and Bell Peppers and I Saulte my Vegetables before mixing it with my Cornbread.
Are you from GA? That is exactly how my mother used to make her cornbread dressing. You have my vote.💗
I'm from Georgia and I concur!@jean8435
You are the first person on RUclips that I came across to make this just like my mom...it's identical all the way to the sliced bread.
Yummy😍
Nothing beats that homemade broth. I like ground sage in my dressing along with the other spices you added. I also add the eggs. 😊😊
Love sage in my dressing and poultry seasoning. My grandmother use to add slice boiled eggs.

GARLIC OH NO
I know no sage r pounty seasoning it not dressing... without it but to each its own.
I didn’t know you can add the celery and onions without cooking them down!!!…. I’m 50 years old and had no idea! Wow you learn something new everyday LOL ❤❤❤Thank you
Yes, we all do ☺️
This is the first time I've seen dressing without poultry seasoning or sage. In my family that is what makes the taste.
No it’s the season broth, and the sage is not missed. Try it sometime 😉
🤢
Praise God! finally somebody who don't use cream soups and stovetop. Stuffing mix! This is how I was taught to make dressing❤🎉
Just like that, but I gotta have that sage and poultry seasoning!
☺️
Pastor Teresa, your dressing looks delicious. My mom added sage and pulled the meat off the turkey necks, chicken liver, and gizzards, boiled with the celery, onions, and bell peppers. Tell Mr. Eric, we missed him today.
Looked Absolutely Delicious 🤤😋🤤😋
My grandma used to use a hen for her dressings and your dressing reminds me so much of hers. Thanks for sharing. Peace and Blessings to you all.
Thank you Teresa, you are such a beautiful woman with a beautiful spirit. Love you and your family. Blessings.
Hi Teresa,,Thanks for sharing your dressing recipe,,My mom never put cream of anything in her dressing either so good..
I don't use the cream of chicken soup because they have such high salt content that you really can't taste but it's there.
Looks delicious making me hungary will try your receipe regards georgia
Mrs.Teresa, your hair is so beautiful and thick
Thank you☺️🥰

My husband use to eat it like that while growing up in Virginia 🤔
I can imagine the smell, I fall in love with the triad! I use my mom's version, it's all about the broth indeed. ..dd&m. 😊
Thanks for sharing. Your dressing reminds me of my cousin’s growing up. She used a hen also for her “Chicken Dressing”.
Hi, Lady Teresa. I like the ingredients you used in the dressing. It looked delicious, and the cranberry gel by Ocean Spray is a favorite. Thanks
