Oh my goodness! You are the first person to make cornbread dressing the way my mother used to make it. I have watched soooo many cooking shows but NOBODY made it like my mother did. I wondered how in the world she came up with it. I have worked off memory of the things I saw her do and I have come close. Really close. Now I have met you! Thank you so much for this video! While she never added the meat to the dressing, she had it in her Giblet Gravy. All of the Stock, Cornbread (the exact way my mother made it), Pepperidge Farms Herb Stuffing, sautéd in butter, onions and celery (no peppers here either) Chicken Bouillon, Seasonings... Wow! 😥 It just made me miss my mother so much! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! 😊 This is going to be a wonderful Thanksgiving thanks to your inspirational Thanksgiving Cornbread Dressing video! Happy Thanksgiving! God Bless you and your family.

Thank you, Ms. Carrie! Your videos teach people the old school, tried and true methods.
There is no place for any "Cream of *****" in dressing. I think that was introduced as a modern day shortcut, trying to do everything "fast & simple".
The joy of holiday cooking is the time, effort, and love that goes into developing flavors that were classic before canned soup was invented.
Please continue to share with us! We appreciate you!

I am so glad that I find your channel when I was looking for a Southern Cornbread recipe....there are a lot of them....and I watched quite a few of them ..... I am an 84 y old transplant from New England and was familiar with my mother and grandmother's bread "stuffing" and had earned a reputation for making excellent "stuffing' with my sons, relatives who came for T day at my house and church pot luck dinners. But I live in Florida now and have been wanting to make corn bread dressing.....I have not had the same reputation when I tried to make cornbread dressing in NH for a transplant from GA who always missed Southern style dressing.
I think you and several other TV hosts have emersed me in how to make Soul Food Old Fashion Dressing. I am pretty confident that this year I will have the success that has eluded me. I am ready to bake my own cornbread, stock with turkey necks and gizzard and will pick and chop the meat to add to the dressing (I usually havent added meat to New England stuffing...sometimes chestnuts and other times (sausage or oysters). The one ingredient from my family's style stuffing that I find indispensable is Bell's Seasoning.....it is a poultry seasoning that has always been part of my thanksgiving.....(I also use sage and thyme and garlic/onion powder. (I think Bell's has a little ginger in addition to the usual poultry seasonings). I also will add a bit of savory.....an herb that is popular with French-Canadian cooks---especially in traditional pork pies which are traditional for xmas.
Anyway.....I want to thank you for your channel and for your wonderful recipes and your charming personality and accent. I feel as if I know you.
Blessings to you and your family.

I miss my mama & my Mamaw & don't I envy your children gathering in your home to enjoy that meal!!! My son won't eat dressing! I'm gonna make myself a little pan but it won't be as good as yours. What a delightful person you are!! You were a joy to watch & have such a wonderful personality & it came through loud & clear, here. Blessings to you & your family, today & everyday...have a wonderful Thanksgiving & stay safe & well too! Loved your dressing recipe too...I'm almost 74 & I make mine just about like you have, here...I just don't add any eggs in mine. My late husband's favorite holiday was Thanksgiving...he loved it when I would get up in the middle of the night & start baking everything...most things I had prepped the day before & I would get up & finish off the dressing & stuff the turkey with it, etc...bake it low & slow & he could smell it sleeping. For some reason, that gave him pure joy! I loved cooking for him; I haven't done a lot of baking & cooking like I used to do, when he was still here, with me. I just don't feel the joy in doing it for myself. We only had one child, but she passed away at not quite 8 months of age, from a disease, so it was just he & I & we would go to the military base, where he was stationed & pick up any guys & girls that couldn't make it home for the holidays & bring them to our home to share dinner with us. It made our Thanksgiving so much nicer, to share with others that couldn't be with their own families.🙏💖

I live alone also, so there’s really no one to cook for besides myself. I try to cook a little something and decorate for the holidays in order to make it not feel so gloomy. I hope all is well sis, take care and start cooking for yourself, you deserve it. ✝️🙏🏽❤️

I hope your family respects all the love and skill that goes into this. You are amazing. Watched this twice with tears in my eyes both times. Your family will always have the memories of this beautiful skilled angel working magic in her kitchen just to make the day special for them. God bless you and your family, they are so lucky to have you. Tell them for me They will regret it if everyone of them do not hug you and tell you just how incredible you are. One day they will give anything to look into that kitchen and see you there with all those smells and all that love you supply them with. There is not substitute for you. I am sure they already know it. God bless you.

Ms.Carrie I only use cornbread for my dressing no herb crumbs added and neither do I add egg to my dressing. My mother taught me to make dressing. I only add broth from the gizzards I boiled and can broth when extra broth is needed. I season the dressing with my seasonings. I Sautee the vegetables like you. Hi Ms. Carrie, first off, my dad’s mothers first name was Carrie and I have a niece named after her. Enjoyed watching because you remined me so much of my mom on Thanksgiving. She would be up way before the chickens getting the Tuckey in the oven, why because it was big bird around 25 pounds. The reason for such a large bird was because counting mom and dad there was ten of us to feed and later years a lot more once we married. Dressing, our mom had to make a lot and I do mean a lot. Again, thanks for taking me back home, you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving!

@joan ~the stuffing she made went into the bird & baked (otherwise we stuffed the bird with onion, bell pepper, celery & stick of butter). However the Cornbread Dressing was always baked separately as well as the Rice Dressing. Sometimes we would cook rice dressing from scratch, cooking the gizzards & meat mix halfway done before adding Raw rice and finished cooking it with homemade stock on top of the stove [time consuming Fo sho]! The old folks did their thing but over the years I found shortcuts (like cooking my rice in a rice cooker) and adding it to cooked meat mixture ! But it’s all good ! I saw someone add MUSTARD👀 to their cornbread dressing and others add boiled eggs AND Cream of ‘Something’ soups 🤷🏽‍♀️ I guess different strokes (I’m gonna try that one day) too

Oh yes, Ms. Carrie. we got the good stuff in there. The dressing may be in your mouth, but I tasted it in mine. Thanksgiving can't get here fast enough for me.

Boy, I have made white bread dressing for years but am amazed at the spices and herbs you are using! Especially love butter, celery, onions and sage! 0:00

Momma is clean. Love how you wipe up when you run the water. You wipe your seasoning tops off, etc., too. I pay attention to the small things.

Ms. Carrie my mother also says no to the garlic and bell pepper. Her recipe is similar to yours she uses the stuffing mix, toast or croutons and it makes a difference. Thanks for sharing.🤗

Hey Cassie! I do my dressing very similar to yours! I don't use eggs though! I'm disabled so I make my stock/broth in my Crockpot! I can't stand for long periods of time! I also use Pepperidge Farms, but I use Cornbread Dressing Mix Crumbles! I use a food processor/chopper for the gizzard and necks! It helps me cut down on the time in the kitchen! ✌️❤🙏

My mom always used Mrs. Cubison’s Cornbread Stuffing mix (instead of Pepperidge Farms) [not the bread stuffing though]. Talk about good 👍🏽
