I own a 2018, petrol manual 245 challenge edition with 35,000 miles which comes with all the addons. Reverse camera, heated seats, upgraded 19 extreme alloys, black details all round and red paint. We have a large dog and a child and I can honestly say I think we will just run it until it packs in and can't drive anymore. Perfect balance of practicality/space/power will struggle to find a better spec'd car for the price.
I have the same car In Silver and too forgot that they don’t get any golf r/gti attention from police they ignore them as they use them, you also get people slowing down and moving out your way
much bigger, much cooler, much more reliable (idk how Skoda does it as they share parts with VAG) still fast, not as sharp a steering response but still fun..... it's just win win win in my opinion
Yeah they do seem to be more reliable. I guess this will be down to using tried and tested “old” parts. Less revolutionary things, more stuff that just works
I've got that exact car and have had an engine and gearbox remap. I've also straightpiped it. The sound is so much better and it now has 328 BHP, 506 NM
@JoeTalksCars yeah the difference is night and day. The only down side is not being a 4 wheel drive. The 0-60 isn't exactly world class, but rolling down the road is interesting when you have certain cars that want to play and end up losing 😂
Great review, like your style and manner. Just bought a 2017 vrs estate with 19' rims, not a 245, and love it so far. Cracking car that offers so much bang for the buck, ticks most of the boxes and looks great in quartz grey.

I have a VRS 230 (pre-facelift, so it has the extra equipment like LSD, new sports exhaust, electric folding mirrors etc.); I personally much prefer the look of the hatch version but am sure if you need the space, the estate is welcomed! The 2.0L TSI with the manual gear box is great, too. Short gears with a nicely weighted clutch...this engine is very strong, it surprised me to be fair! Great review!
@@JoeTalksCars DSG is great, until it breaks lol… nothing like going down bendy roads at speed, having to manually change down the gears, lots of fun & is abit more engaging!
Thanks the video helped my decision I bought last week a 2019 VRS 245 Manual Estate to replace a 2014 C Class Estate as my dog outgrew it! I can forgive the lower spec as it is so engaging and involving to drive. I like the understated looks and it's not trying to be something it's not.
I'd rather not have a digital dials. I like old school analog dials. I've only got a fabia but that has a digital dial between the anolog ones and that seems great to me.
I have the 2019 Skoda Octavia VRS sedan with virtual cockpit. However for Singapore market, there are NO sunroof, rear two usb ports, Dynamic Chassis Control, Adaptive Cruise Control and rear wiper options. I love the car though. An all-rounder.
heated seats, heated wheel, and mostly important...applecar play..... Prefers digital dials instead of analog....your priorities in a car are the opposite to mine. First time it happens to me in a car review
Don't discount the hatch model, the boot is still massive, it's a bit cheaper and unless you have a dog or need the estate space you won't be disappointed.
Yeah they look pretty good to. The estate is just cooler looking. Don’t know what it is about sporty estate cars but I love them. Audi RS6 would be a dream come true.
Their other wheel design is nicer, this one is a bit weird. I like the 19's. Love the car though. The 2021 and 2022 versions looks so much like an Audi. New front end design and headlights.
It looks quite decent. Pretty powerful, great performance. But never,,,, ever as "ICONIC" as GTI or ever an "R". Still though fairly reasonably priced.

They are fabulous cars and so much better value than the VW counterparts. Fun car to drive too!

Yeah so much less or a yobbo car. Not that I am one but the GTI draws that little bit more attention in.

I have the 2019 MY20 version which has the digital instrument cluster instead of the analogue dials.

Maaaate, not even the leather seats. Also you can get a panoramic sunroof as an option, I've got one. It is massive, so nice.
I know:( but to be fair the fabric is quite nice. Seems a fairly low spec car for the money to be honest. Drives well tho.
