What did u need to fix?
These are the most under rated, the DSG box is so fun, and some mods ( dump pipe and muffler delete ) its a good fun daily car
i have spent around £2k average to maintain mine. 3.4 BS. most expensive cost for me was replacing microswitch for tipbox, replacing oil sump pan and new door sill and respray. then second most expensive costs were 4x new MPS4S, running 285 in the rear, and then £800 Top gear non valved exhausts as the original one on the car was properly corroded.
Hands down one of the best super saloons you can buy!!! Great video ❤
🍋
Ive always loved these... had the pleasure of driving one on 5 occasions in total... every time its been smile central. Im an alfa fan anyway but these are just my top car to own. I love the back to basics.
Well done ... and keep going
Keep up the great content
I'm massively proud to be one if your first subs. Onwards and upwards Joe, as Ive said to you before. Delighted to see you've done a bit of presenting coaching. The very best of health and happiness to you and your family🇮🇪
Great stuff Joe. The best of luck for 2025 and keep up the great content.
Another great year Joe! It’s been a fun ride from year one. Being US based, I really enjoy seeing your adventures in the UK and Europe. We need to get you over here for Porsche’s Werks Reunion Amelia Island Florida and the Amelia Islands Concours. All you’ll need is the plane ticket. 👍 Looking forward to 2025.
Huge smile on my face Joe, I have watched you grow this channel from day one, and yes my friend the production quality is very evident now……a massive well done to you for this great channel and the thoroughly enjoyable content……oh and a happy new year to you…..cant wait for 2025 and more content
I'm no filming expert, but your one to one camera presentations and editing are spot on. 👍
Great stuff Joe, always enjoy the 987 content 👍🏻
Great work, Joe... Always appreciate your genuine, earnest, and honest approach to your content!
You’ve done a fantastic job, can’t wait to see what you do next year. You can’t go wrong with a Cayman/ Boxster.
Thank you so much!
Joe if you ever want to drive my Evora just let me know...👍🇬🇧

@JoeTalksCars 👍👍
I own the same car as yours but live in Dubai. Pretty sure I have some version of bore score but have done nothing about it (except keep oil topped up) and have owned the car for 5 years. Liability insurance cost me 200usd a year. Fuel around 250-300usd a year. Service, parts and labour - around 2,500usd a year on average. For a grand total of 3000usd a year. We don’t pay road tax here. I think that’s a relative bargain compared to your cost of living in the UK. One thing I find here is the weather and roads are conducive to longevity. Cars don’t rust or wear as quickly as they would in the UK.
@@faizahmadali wow. Love Dubai, want to return soon. I guess it’s a rare sight on the roads over there! Hope yours doesn’t have bore score:( if you aren’t putting much oil in hopefully you will be fine. Yeah I think the damp weather here doesn’t help with wear and tear on these cars.
What a waste of time that video was👎
You’re welcome 👍
feel sad for you my friend....i might think your mechanic might be it.
What are you wittering on about now? It’s been expensive as it’s an 18 year old car. Nothing wrong with the mechanic.
if your gear box is not giving you problems DONT BE CHANGING ANYTHING no oil no filter which by the way is intergraded into the transmission oil pan. oh btw... bore scoring is cause cheap oil... use motul 5 40
Erm it had a rotten sump
Have a 2012 987.2 this this is built like a tank. I have not fixed a thing in 11 years just use good oil. i use Motul 8100 MAX only! no mobil1 no shell no liquid molly JUST MOTUL .
987.2 is known to be a better engine. I use millers oil as recommended by the builder
All i hope is 987.2009 987.2 doesn't have bore problems
The .2 should avoid most of the issues:)
Piece of crap, Maurice will be turning in his grave, as will every past farmer, soldier, marine or workmen who knows what these brilliant vehicles were actually designed for, spending £50k on a trick Defender does NOT make you cool, it makes you a fool !
Brah, you're super cute and great vids Although, all guys watching are thinking wash the car before shooting your videos, and yes the PCCM+ is totally worth it. It allows for adjustments options on your Porsche. Sub'd.
Love it great video I’m going to check mine in the morning !!!
aliexpress in a porsche I wouldnt even put one in a skoda
Sorry, Joe, I disagree with almost every point you make 🙂 1. Bore-score - apart from YTubers, I don't know anyone IRL who has had a bore-score issue. I've only had my 987 S for 15 months but I'm a member of several FB groups, meet up with loads of owners weekly - nada. Just read the comments on this video - I scrolled through a few pages, not a single owner has had it (just you and JayEm). 2. I changed my head unit in the first week of ownership, just had an after-market exhaust fitted - no-one bats an eyelid. Stripes, spoilers, skirts - I've seen loads of mods. Some say they prefer to keep their car original but no-one is immature/anal enough to get worked up over it. 3. Stuck with a Porsche? They are good but I know loads of people who have sold their Porsche and bought something else. Yes, Porsche are great but many people (like me) may get bored and want something very different (I really want a Maserati GranTurismo, for example). I think you are spending too much time talking to the Porsche Owners Club and Porsche dealers - get out into the real world with normal people.
Run 5w 40 on your next service 👍🏻
Does that reduce the consumption?
@ yes mate consumption with be reduced. I have an edition 35 which has the cdl ea113 engine I run millers nt+ and use about 100ml every 2k miles.
Love the video. Man math is on point - just remove the biggest expense!
Haha 🤣 thank you!
Having owned a 147 GTA and a 156 GTA, it took nearly 10 years for me to get back into an Alfa Stelvio QV after moving to the US. Just like the GTA 3.2 Busso, the engine is what gives these cars so much but the difference is the handling on these Quads is amazing. Def an event every time you drive. Love it.
Can’t wait to try a Stelvio, il be trying that soon! Love the 147 GTA. Remember that car coming out and being on top gear too!! Would love an Alfa and one day I think it will happen
Color options look like UIS8581A-2-32 or UIS8141E-2-32 not sure which one is the right one. Edit: also does it have backup camera compatibility?
Not sure either, on a photo they look identical. Mines getting sprayed so not overly bothered at the moment. It does support a camera but I’ve not bothered with one.
Think it actually will take up to 4 cameras 👍
Really cool. Obviously love what they do and do it well.
They certainly do. The team and set up there is next level!
Why did he make such a song and dance about it being a four seater?!? It’s only for kids and is really designed to get by the purchasing committee (the wife) . It’ll do the school run if you really have to…this is not new news?!?! 🤡 this guy is super annoying 😅
@@ChrisW-uy7qn because I have a cayman. I’m annoying, maybe so. Your comment tho. Now that’s the annoying part 👍
@ I really don’t think it’s anything to do with the Cayman - great car. It’s really about the attempted takedown of the rear seats - they are small…this is not new news 🤷♂️
Why do we need to look at this guys white legs?
@@ChrisW-uy7qn you are aware that commenting on this and other videos means the algorithm is going to think you like it and deliver more. So why do you need to? You don’t. But now you will have to, you’re welcome.
@ to be honest I had high hopes for the review - but in the end I found it very whiny and didn’t bring anything good, insightful or new to the table. I hope you take on board car enthusiasts comments, I really have no emotion towards an algorithm. Good luck with future reviews
Saludos
its not just bore score and IMS, its also all the plastic parts glued together, such as engine coolant control valve. Its a german car full of plastic parts. hence the reliability is not as great as if you buy honda accord
Oh no another 'Underrated' Video. Toodle pip.
Had 2 of these and a dc2 type rx if you think the dc5 is good go and try the older car, a decent one of those will blow your mind they are sooooo much more engaging than the dc5
It's all personal taste. I had 3 jdm dc2s ( 1 turbo ) and 2 dc5s ( 1 supercharged ) and around 12 years driving and owning them. However much I love a dc2 the 5 speed gearbox let's it down in both 96 and 98 spec versions. The dc5 has a perfect geared box but the car does benefit massively with a remap to bring vtec in earlier, a fast road set up on some eibach springs transforms how it feels. The actual chassis is very very good tho.
@ yeah my 2nd dc5 was quite well modified I just preferred pretty much everything in my dc2 it just had so much more character, not saying the dc5 is a bad car far from it 👍🏻
Do you have install instructions?
You could only buy a dc2 in the uk with twin round lights where as Japan had long lights . You could never buy a dc5 in the uk , only import it . Reasonable blog but should have done his homework
I had an 02 dc5 rsx type s.... and was sadly taken away from me due to someone running a redlight... miss it so much. .. such a good car .
This Honda gen was never an icon.
I just love the analog feel of that 2006 Cayman S. Total driver's car.
the DC5 is just a smaller version of the e46 M3 haha
I find it strange that you say you’re a massive GTI fanboy and when you started talking about the MK1 Gti and you were playing the black and white video of the car it happened to be that the car isn’t even a GTI and not even a Mk1!. It is a MK2 Plan Golf! Did you notice that ? But loved the video thanks!
Heya, OG M2 has none of all that and is reliable ;)
Im only compaint is the gearshifter, i swopped it out to a hybrid racing one and it transformed the car.
Yeah those Porsches are beginning to drop like flies. It turns out they have a significant flaw in the engines. Sadly it's all on the owners to repair the issue. Over here in the States, our performance cars have V8 engines and in general, are pretty reliable.
