I've had mine for nearly 9 years and done over 90000 miles 60000 of them at stage 1 and can honestly say it's been the most reliable car I've had.Its now on 150000 miles and other than a bit of rust on the sills(common problem) and replacing worn suspension parts and general maintenance it's been totally reliable and a pleasure to own.

Picked one of these up in September last year, 2010 facelift, in white with full heated leather seats, TSI version with the chain driven Mk6 GTI engine and I have to say, best car I’ve owned for a very very long time 👌🏻

I’ve owned a stage 2 tuned manual 08 yellow VRS wagon (FSI) for just over 2 years now, which is the family car & it has been so reliable & fun to drive, that I’ve just bought an 09 (facelift TSI) Skoda tarmac rally wagon co-developed by Skoda Australia & a V8 Supercar team which competed in the 2010-2011 Targa Tasmania. These cars are also criminally underrated & undervalued here in Australia where most people don’t have a clue what they are.

tbh, my first car when i was 15 was a 1997 skoda felicia that i bought for £90. the garage was going to scrap it, in my opinion, i started up (sometimes) and drove so i dont see the point in scrappy something that can be rescued. at the time i was training to be a mechanic so i used the skoda as my own little project, fixed it all up. in the end i made £560 profit when i sold it on. so because the skoda was the first ever car, I'll always have a soft spot when it comes to Skoda's. nowadays there a little less underestimated due to reliability and looks being improved by a lot. great cars.
as for your hatchback/hot hatch confusion haha the octivia was sold as a hatchback and an estate. the skoda superb was the saloon but also a larger estate model was available.

I've had mine since 2010, it's a 2006 vRS, Petrol, brought it to Ireland from the UK, when I bought it I didn't know the UK spec was actually worse then the Irish spec at the time.
I've 182k miles done, it was sitting up for 3 years outside, put battery in it started drove no issues, done belts, full service and a ball joint.
The car was a bit lumpy when I parked it up, so went through it to find the issues....
Coil pack cylinder 2 was done, got 2 new coil packs and will get another 2 soon to have all the same, changed the cam follower which was in it since new, it was definitely worn, scratched and marks but definitely had some more life in it, but it's definitely worth changing as they can fail.
The car is fully standard and I hope to do some mods, need a new back box, the tips have actually come off, would love to do the forged air system, exhaust and a bigger turbo, that would be fun.
Car always liked oil so I check that regularly and top up often, service every 10k and it's always started, drove home after 2 coil packs failed, absolutely flying.

I had one of the Limited edition octavia vrs estate for a few months. Number 40 out of 500 made. Was the same one my uncle bought new in 2009 and then I was the third owner. Was a lovely car and well equipped but even after fitting coilovers it felt more like a motorway cruiser. Didn't think it was as fun to drive as my Fabia monte carlo.

It's nothing like a golf with a boot . All the work that went into making the rear end stiffer but yes it is a hatchback saloon . I find golf's are too soft at the rear . And don't handle like a saloon . Where the vrs does very well . Much better than golf great car .

In work we have a guy with a blue mk2 like this who comes to us with 145k miles and it is a total bucket and a nightmare to work on. He spent a £1k last year on it and a further £600, it's not even worth £500 tbh. I really like this gen of VRS and that 2.0 tfsi engine is 👌, but I am totaly put off it purely because of that bucket I've worked on.
